      Mythic's 1337 dream journal

I'm just gonna jump right in, and post last night's dream.
I can't always recall the exact words I or other people say, so I'll just approximate the general message.

The Secret RED Tunnel Non-Dream Dream Lucid

      Dream enjoyment rating: 6/10
An interesting dream, relatively clear too. I didn't become lucid, though, and the plot made little sense.
If it had been longer and made more sense, it would be a 7.

I was in a "RED" base from Team Fortress 2. I was with a few other people.
We needed to escape - we were near a secret tunnel. I said something like "I don't know why, but I prefer our RED architectural style. Maybe if I was born a BLU, I would enjoy their buildings instead, with their industrial materials".

One of the people said "When you finally reach the other side of the tunnel and open the door, the guard will swing his shovel at you, before he knows it's you. Just step back. He is trained to do it incase you're an attacker".

I think some other things happened too, but I can't really remember. I know I never went down the escape tunnel, though.
I often think about the different RED/BLU buildings in Team Fortress 2 when I'm playing it. I saw a video about their architectural styles and differences.
Personally I think this dream was quite interesting. People seemed to be born into RED or BLU, completely different than the real game's story.

      The Vague Nightmare

      Finally, another lucid dream!

The Vague Nightmare Non-Dream Dream Lucid

      Dream enjoyment rating: 2/10
I wasn't in the dream for long, and I had no real control, because I was afraid and unconfident. But at least I was lucid.

I pinched my nose, and could breath.
It was dark, and I felt uneasy. I was in some empty house.
I tried steering the dream by saying "X person will be behind that door", but it didn't work.

Maybe it was because I was afraid. I know when I'm in a nightmare, and that felt like one. I hope that next time, I'll pinch my nose in a more friendly enviroment.

At least it's progress! I'm glad that my real-life reality checks have carried through to my dreams.

The Realistic Towel Non-Dream Dream Lucid

      Dream enjoyment rating: 6/10
I managed to become lucid, and I remember the details quite vividly. It gives me hope, as I am having lots of dreams where I become lucid for a few seconds, lately.
Although, I wish I had been lucid for a longer time. I need to improve stability.

I was in a bedroom, and my brother's girlfriend showed me some musical graph. The complex diagram didn't make much sense to me. My brother was also there, sitting at his computer.
Eventually us 3 had an argument.

At some point, I went into the bathroom. There was a big tank, like a shower, except sealed off and full of water.
It looked like it had a floating body in it. I got really freaked out, and left the bathroom.
It occured to me that the argument we'd just had was really crazy, and was about things that we'd never argue about in real life.

So, I pinched my nose, and when I found out I could breath, it all hit me.
I realised that nothing even mattered in the dream. It was all in my head.
I was about to go down the stairs, which by then, my brother and his gf were walking down. I saw a lightswitch, and, stupidly, decided to press it, remembering what I've read about lights not working. The house went black. I pressed it again, and it took about 2 seconds for the light to come back. When it came back, I started to lose mental focus, and my bro and his gf were blurry. As my vision faded to greyness, and I felt around blindly, I realised I had a towel in my hands.

I remembered this thread, and tried to engage all my senses. I felt the towel, smelled it, and rubbed my hands. It was really realistic. The smell and feel of the cotton... wow.
Amidst the greyness in my vision, a simple shape emerged. A house. And some stickmen, I think...
      and then I awoke.

Thanks! I added a dream enjoyment rating feature, just for fun.

Well, I hope I have another lucid dream tonight - I think it's quite likely considering I'm having more and more these days.

Now all I need to work on is stability.

Naked Obstacle Course Non-Dream Dream Lucid

      Dream enjoyment rating: 3/10
Boring on one hand, as I didn't even exist, but on the other hand, it was quite funny, which gives it a 3.

There was an arena around a large circle of grass. Lots of women were in the arena seats.
There was an obstacle course on the grass, which had monkey bars and things like that. I'm pretty sure it was a TV game show, and I was the camera. I didn't "exist" as such.
Anyway, there was some naked guy in the obstacle course. All the women were cheering as the guy reached each obstacle. Kinda funny, I suppose.

      Embarassing Appointment Non-Dream Dream Lucid

      Dream enjoyment rating: 3/10
I thought it was real at the time. At least it didn't last long.

I was in a hospital, and, well, I was asked to fill in a pretty personal form.
About things... down there. I was embarassed to hell, and then I woke up.

So, no lucid dreams tonight. I actually woke up at 5 AM, but I was too afraid to try a WILD, so I went back to sleep.

The Strange Game Non-Dream Dream Lucid

      Dream enjoyment rating: 5/10
It wasn't unpleasant. I've had worse dreams, for sure, but there's not a lot else to say about it.

Me and my Dad were playing some game, which looked like a cross between Team Fortress 2 and Unreal Tournament III.
While it was a game, and we were playing it, I had a view as though I was in the game. Now that I think about it, it's like the game was all that existed, and I wasn't in an outside world viewpoint because there was no outside world - my attention was focused on the game.

Nothing exciting really happened. There were money orbs, which I presume you stored in your base for a cash income (I think it was an RTS. Not sure), but once, they spawned at opposite points, so I had to escort Dad's orb to him, and vice versa, or we'd have no funds.

I didn't want him to kill my soldier when I dropped the orb at his base, so I decided I'd take a bodyguard with the orb carrier. But my Dad got annoyed with me, because I took ages delivering his ball, so he had no funds.
      That's all I remember.

Yeah, a really weird dream, that doesn't make sense.
What's new, eh? But really, sorry about my dreams. Everyone else has interesting, vivid dreams, it seems to me.
Mine are just bizarre and boring. Hope I have another lucid. Something I can really get my teeth into. Something exciting.

ATM I am trying the Brain Flooder. Loading it with images of the Chinese Huangshan mountains.

Maybe I had a super long dream of the Huangshan mountains, then forgot about it, but I don't remember any dreams at all.

OH! I just remembered, in "The Realistic Towel", I used a lightswitch! That's probably what made me lose focus, the brainpower used in changing the lights.
I've edited the post now. I love it when you just remember something.

The only thing I see you're doing wrong with trying to improve your dreams and have lucid dreams is that you just apologized for your dreams not being exciting (to you they aren't, but I find them significantly and satisfyingly entertaining - they're not over the top or anything, they're just chill dreams), as well as comparing yours to others to show yours are inferior. The problem with that is that your dreams are yours dreams for a reason. If you always had giant, epic dreams that wore you ought by the time you woke up in a sweat, you'd get tired of them very fast. I have exciting dreams at times, other times I have more laid back "chill" dreams I guess you could call them, but each and every one is interesting, and for different reasons. Look for what about your dreams makes them interesting to you - if they weren't interesting at all, why would you be having them? Keep 'em coming, and don't forget - I wouldn't be reading on and commenting on your DJ if it wasn't interesting!

Also, I've had dreams where I feel like I'm actually INSIDE the game I'm playing, more often than not. When I'm dreaming about playing a game, I'm always inside it, never just watching a screen.

Yes, I believe that would be what caused that loss there. The change affected the entire environment, making you seeing nothing but blackness - which is often what one sees with the loss of a dream, so that's where your problems began. Just avoid that next time, I suppose!

Thanks! There's a time for interesting dreams, and a time for exciting dreams.
Maybe I'll have an exciting dream soon.

Good to know that the "inside-the-game" thing isn't just me. I also recall dreams where I've been playing a game, yet inside it.

Next time I won't go fiddling around with lightswitches.

      Talking Omgwtfbbq

Wow... I had a lucid dream! And it was simply beautiful. Full story.
The bit before is slightly hazy. And fragmented.
Skip to the lucid part in red if you like.

      Clarity Beyond Reality
      Non-Dream Dream Lucid

      Dream enjoyment rating: 8/10
A scary start turned into a wonderful lucid dream. This time, everything was crystal clear in the lucid part. If I had managed to get outside and fly, it would have been even better. I would have preferred it without the freaky horror-movie sort of beginning, too.

Me and my Mum were watching a horror movie. It was about zombies, except in a more bizarre way. My viewpoint was in the movie. At some point, it became real.
We were in some dark, stained, empty appartment. I am not sure what we were doing, except being scared, but in the appartment opposite, I saw a very creepy little girl.
I assumed that she was conducting a zombifying ritual, which was causing the zombies (although I never saw any. We just knew).

So, basically, my sister explains to me that it's not the case. She says that the zombies are created by people going crazy. The same as "The Crazies".

Well, I found myself downstairs and in some strange place, which I can't really describe.
I never really got a full picture on it. I think it was like a garden, but with seperate booths in the back, similar to horses' stables. My family (and my cat) were in these "stables". But they looked like zombies, all rotten and green. "Thriller" style.

When I walked back inside, there was an asian woman with syringes full of various liquids. As I walked past her (she was sitting at a desk), I thought she had injected me in the back of my neck.
"Hey! Did you just inject me?"
      "No."
And then I realised she was very important.
"I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to accuse you!"
      And then I walked away.

I somehow ended up walking into my room, which looked a bit like my room IRL.
Suddenly, I just knew it was a dream. I'm not kidding! As I looked at my bed, I thought to myself
"I'll be lying there right now. Dreaming."

I got that wonderful feeling, that I only get when I realise I'm lucid.
Anyone else get that? The feeling of amazement, the realisation that you are free to explore the wonderful world. The world inside your head.
The disbelief that everything looks as perfectly clear as it does in real life, one you start paying attention.

As I looked around the room, I marvelled at how clear my vision was. It looked perfect. If there's any non-lucid dreamers reading this, then believe me when I say that lucid dreams can look absolutely real.
      I smelled my clothes. Real.
I decided that I wanted to test my powers. My other lucids had ended too soon for me to do that.
I focused hard on willing a piece of paper to rise into the air. I imagined it being pulled upwards. It slowly lifted a few inches into the air.
Yay! That's a start! It was very difficult, though. It took a lot of concentration.

I walked downstairs. When I reached the front door, which was open, I looked through the small window in the door.
In my dream, it was one of those patterned glass windows, which are meant to stop people looking through.
      Like this:

I remembered that in a thread about mirrors on here, somebody had asked if anyone had experimented with light and refraction in dreams.
I looked through the window - it distorted the view outside into lots of coloured balls, as it should.
(The pattern was also lots of little circles. Makes sense.)

And then, as I tried to go outside, my viewpoint moved up into the sky. I lost my own body - I was like a camera in the sky.
Outside, there were a few dead trees lined beside an old path, with grey, dead ground. For a second, I was glad I hadn't managed to get outside, but then, past the path, were beautful green hills, topped with (non-dead) tall, majestic trees.
I watched a scotsman walk up to a tree, uproot it, and toss it like a caber.
It was like he was showing me what was possible in dreams. He smiled at me (even though my body didn't exist).

      Amazing.
I remember how clear my vision was. Everything looked 100% real.
I can't begin to tell you how awesome it was to be able to go anyware, and the absolute clarity.

      The Statue Dragon
      Non-Dream Dream Lucid

      Dream enjoyment rating: 7/10
A really weird dream, but on reflection, seems kinda cool. I've had worse.

I don't know where I was. The place changed slightly once or twice, and hardly mattered. I think it was a room (house?) with no ceiling, actually...
There was a gigantic spaceship, sort of like the one from Independence Day. However, this one was made of glowing, multicoloured light.
My cousins were going to fly it, I think, to let the spirits of their dead family members release, or rest, something like that.

I was also going to be on it, except tied to it with rope. So, when the time came, it rose into the air, and I was attached, but when it got high up, I fell off the rope.
Something very weird happened when I hit the ground. I can't remember exactly what, though. Except my vision turned multicoloured, I think... bah, I hate bad recall.
There was now a small statue in the room I was in. It was of a Chinese dragon, half blue, half red. It might have had two bodies, but I'm not sure.

It came alive, and spoke to me. I remember it said something prophetic, like it wasn't my time to die, blah blah, I was special, blah blah... I don't know the exact details. Then it turned back into a statue.
When I told my Dad, he said it was just a near death experience, a load of crap, and basically got angry with my for making things up.
      I argued with him.

I was upset, because if it was a near death experience, or an OBE, what explained the small dragon statue?
Well, I think I asked the dragon something. Don't know what. I pleaded with it to come back to life. It did, for a while, and told me the answer to my question/spoke with me/whatever.

Well, that's it. I think I kinda enjoyed the dream at the time.
When I woke up, I thought "Argh, don't remember any dreams..." but then I remembered!
      Yay.

Woah, you've had a lot of Lucid dreams since you joined! It took me a month to have a 5 second LD, and all my other LDs have been really short. I hope to have one tonight! Anyway I look forward to reading some more dreams!

      Lots of dreams, none lucid

Thanks to both of you! I hope you get to ride an owl, Mancon. That sounds like fun.

I'm still surprised that I've had lucids, too. I'd never have managed it without this site though.

Have you tried keeping a real life journal as well as a dream journal, Mancon?
Every single night, I write about what happened on that day. I think it must help with my recall - I started it long before I joined this site, so originally it wasn't for that purpose.
      A happy accident, I guess.

Hope you get a lucid dream soon, ThaKid. They're a blast
Last night was full of dreams for me, although none lucid

Better write them down before I forget.

Joey is Jealous Non-Dream Dream Lucid

      Dream enjoyability rating: 7/10.
Well, at least it sort of had a plot. And I was in "Friends". That can't be a bad thing eh?

I was Chandler from Friends . Joey was angry at me, because my stuff was all over our appartment (it wasn't like the one from Friends though).
I think he was actually secretly mad because I was getting all the ladies.
Perhaps he thought all my stuff around the messy appartment was ruining his vibe with the ladies.
Near the end of the dream, I walked into some library, and kissed his girlfriend.

      Looking forward to Friends Fragment

I remember looking forward to the Christmas season episodes of Friends.
I was seeing Christmas themed Friends clips, including Ross holding a bauble and grinning wildly.

It seemed that in this world, Friends showed Christmas themed episodes at, I dunno, December.
Instead of just one Christmas day episode.

Battleforge, but stranger. Non-Dream Dream Lucid

Dream enjoyability rating: 7/10. Battleforge seened really fun.

It started with me reading an update for Battleforge. I was finding it really hard to concentrate on the words, and which line I was on. It was also Christmas.
The update was saying how to get the cards for the next edition (in Battleforge you use cards to summon monsters).
It said that you had to request them, and try and develop your aura.
When you had an aura, Santa would send you the new cards.
      Hahaha!
I had a vision of Santa's workshop in a forest somewhere.
I actually felt my aura come to life, and saw a glowing blue flame. Weird!

Then, I was playing Battleforge. I remember that I had a card from the previous edition called Stone Mountain. It was just a mountain. Lol.
The new edition of cards were like glowing stone building blocks. You pieced them together to get monsters.
I joked "why don't I combine the new edition with stone mountain, and then the mountain would shatter and I'd have loads of building blocks!" and the person I was playing with laughed.

There was also a new edition with water monsters, and in this fake dream version of Battleforge, there was no Fire element. We were like "how can we counter water creatures?" and I said "we can use the fire elementals from the earth edition". Which don't exist in the real Battleforge, by the way.

Interesting array of different dream themes!

I'm not on DV much these days, but I'll try to toss a cool dream or two into my DJ.

I have tried to keep a real life journal, but I always give up on it. Maybe I might try again.

Thanks, i've been trying to have one for EVER! I've mainly been focusing on WILDing or VILDing, which have shown more results but no LD. Do you think I should try DILDing before I try the biger stuff?

I keep one as often as I can, and update my online one generally every time I get lucid, so dreams get backed up a little.

Well, there's no harm in trying both. If you have time, try WILDing in the day, as well as doing regular reality checks for a DILD in the night - have you been RCing?
I'm sure that they've helped me DILD, as most of my lucids recently have been because I nose-pinched.

      Onto the dreams.

Real Life Arena Non-Dream Dream Lucid

      Dream enjoyment rating: 7/10 (again).
      A cool dream.

I was in what looked like a huge, heavily modified, enclosed, roofed skatepark (that's the best way I can describe it). It was altered to have barricades and metal bunkers.
There was an all out arena war between 2 teams.
I had a scattergun (from TF2), and I ran along, shooting at people, and trying to stay alive.
It was fun - like a real life Team Fortress 2.

It gradually changed. It was still real, but I had a HUD, and I seemed to be moving by controlling a mouse. Even more like Team Fortress 2.
      Sort of like virtual reality.
I was running along a high walkway, next to a wall, in a seperate, secluded part of the "skatepark" (like I said, it wasn't really a skatepark, but the main area looked like it), ran into an enemy, and fired at her.
We shot at each other until our main weapons ran out of ammo.
I switched to dual pistols, and started firing.
She just crouched. I kept shooting anyway. It seemed my shots weren't hitting her.
So, I pulled out my scattergun again, and somehow, it had more ammo. I blew her away with one shot.

Lol, sounds gruesome and cruel, but what can I say? It's shoot or be shot.

I ran up to the enemy spawn, as their snipers were killing our men - but then, a load of enemies spawned, and I had to run. I don't know if I survived.

A weird dream where I had loads of cash & I was in a school, but Paddy and Selma from The Simpsons came and took all the bundles of money, and threw the notes into the air. Everyone grabbed it.
I was angry, but then everyone liked me because I was the cool guy giving out money.

Some other things happened, and there was another 2 Paddy and Selma twins, called different names.
And a small aeroplane. I can't remember, so I'm calling the rest fragments. Hence the purple.

Last night, I had a dream that I met a girl called Jennifer.
We talked about movie clichés while we walked along the muddy edge of a lake.
The sky was dull, and the ground was damp.

The dream was longer and more detailed than that, but that's all I can really explain. I'm tired & my memory of the dream is getting hazy.
But I'd like this Jennifer to be my dream guide... maybe I'll try and find her again, and talk about dreams.
No idea how I imagined her. I don't even know anyone called Jennifer.

Real Life Arena Non-Dream Dream Lucid

      Dream enjoyment rating: 4/10.
People were nasty to me, but it was interesting to see my real-life pains manifest themselves in a dream.

I was in a swimming pool. There was a lot of people swimming back and forth across the length of the pool, which made it difficult for me to swim normally.
With every movement, I ached. I felt weak. it actually hurt.
I looked at my arms - they were skinny, more so than usual. I came to the conclusion that I was malnourished.
I complained about the people swimming lengths in the pool. "Why are you people always swimming back and forth? I can't do anything - go to a sports pool instead".

They retorted and insulted me, but left one by one. The last guy said something like "I hope you're happy. Enjoy the pool on your own".
      I said "Thanks", sarcastically.

When I woke up, I was aching all over from the way I was sleeping. It's funny how I felt this in my dream.
