Hooray for haunted houses ^_^! I wasn't able to grab anything more then fragments from the previous days dreams (Thus no updates), so it was exciting to be able to grab one today. I was surprised that I could get some rather good hypnagogic imagery going yesterday however while trying my vein efforts at WILDing. Unfortunately, last nights weren't lucid dreams, but imagine if it was!
Here is my color key
Dream,Non-Dream, Lucid Dream,
Dream 2.0
The dream starts off with me watching a television screen in a secret laboratory as it describes a horrible end of the world scenario. The narrator discusses in a sober tone that there are more microbes on this world then simply terrestrial life. That is to say, there are extra-terrestrials among us. However, beyond being simple microbes feeding off earthlings these microbes have a sinister side: recent archeological evidence reveals that they await a time when a great super-natural event will occur around the globe before becoming active... and when they do, they will rapidly spread as an airborne illness and display their rather lethal side... they can kill a human being in less then two minutes (I would later be exposed to them however and survive for days, so apparently this was an exaggeration).
After this, my dream recall becomes a little fuzzy but I don't remember what we were told to do about this wonderful piece of information we were given. In the end though, just as the video ends, it shows the viruses leaving some ancient cave (Now might be a good time to use a large anti-bacterial bomb) @_@). I rushed outside and to my shock, saw them (they looked like whispy brown clouds swaying through the skies, so apparently they weren't entirely at the whim of the air), as they permeated the city.
With great apprehension of what I was seeing, I rushed back to my sisters house. She apparently now had a child and lived in a different looking house. I'm trying to convince her that this viral thing is real and that they have to get to safety (what that safety is, I have no idea) but it took a while before they'd believe me (apparently when their infant started coughing they believed me even though... there really was no evidence that coughing was a symptom O_o). I didn't argue and they started to grab their things and left me with something to carry of my own, one of their pet ferrets which was born to them by a pair of their other ferrets (also doesn't exist IRL).
Yes... I should have checked for some dream signs by then- like parasitic alien bacteria, unknown nephews, secret laboratories, but no...I apparently only check for dreams when things are semi-normal X_X - fails.
Taking my new fuzzy friend with me I drove off (another dream sign, I don't drive) to get as far away from populated areas as possible. I had a particular destination in mind, but never ended up getting there...
Enter ghosts.
Instead of getting to the destination I wanted on the far side of this massive river that I came to (you could barely see the other side) at about dusk, I drove my truck onto a chain metal ferry to cross... Only upon getting on however, did I realize that this wasn't a public ferry, it was a private ferry. It wasn't heading where I wanted to go, but a supposedly old haunted mansion out in the middle of the water that was reported a while ago on ghost hunters (I've never actually seen it on ghost hunters). In fact, it was being used by a private group of ghost hunters (not the ones on the TV series - but some other private group) that wanted to do some "hunting" at the location.
They were low on time as they had a lot of equipment to set up and the sun was just about to set, so they decided they'd take off with my car on the rig as well. By now, my fuzzy ferret companion has grown up with me and despite the fact that I should have only driven for a few hours, he's now full grown and quite amiable. There is no logic to the time differentiation - I'm just happy that I didn't decide that the ferret became my sister by that point .
Arriving at the house, one wonders if the owners didn't create it with the thought of haunting it in the afterlife in mind. It was an old Victorian house in dead dull colors with lots of dusty windows sitting on an island... there was almost no land around around the house, just water and about four feet between the stairs and our boat. (They'd have to unload things into the house from the boat and leave their cars parked on the vessel).
The inside was every bit as creepy as the outside with at least three floors all made of creaky wood, large mirrors on the walls (I should have been able to gain a dream sign out of that) massive ornate throw rugs with lots of reds, golds and blacks... I really must compliment the color combination but I think it could use a tad bit more bone around the door frames. This place "looked" haunted. It didn't matter if there were ghosts here or not, this place was down right creepy - and I was getting the pleasure to do my first ghost hunt here !
I was content sitting on the carpet in the parlor, but sadly my inquisitive shoulder-riding friend noticed something. Other ferrets, in particular a ferret with lots of fur that stuck straight out in a way that would make Albert Einstein proud. Pouncing about in usual ferret style to interact with his new found friend. I smiled for a bit at their display of kinship but wondered where this new ferret had come from. Standing up I looked in the mirror and noticed it was dusty and rather blurry, there was an image of something white in the left hand corner that really creeped me out, but when I turned around I shrugged it off as an old broken crystal chandelier hanging from the roof.
This room was supposedly (shocking) very haunted. But whether or not the ghosts had actually hurt anyone here ( ) I wasn't sure. There was one room however where they enjoyed showing off their... more violent sides. My guess was that it was probably upstairs. The upstairs is always more haunted.
Just then however, I realized that my ferret was gone. I started looking around for him but couldn't find him and realized that a ferret could hide in so many different places in this house it wasn't even funny. If there was a hidden room, HE'D FIND IT! Now scurrying about like a ferret myself, I went about to look for my lost friend before the ghosts got to him and found to my horror that behind one of the dressers where he and the other ferret were playing by, there was a rotating energy vortex just big enough for a ferret to fit into. Wonderful >_>.
Thus began the great ferret hunt and my dream-view switched to video game mode with me going through the various labyrinths of the house, while avoiding falling down sharp drops and choosing inter dimensional portals wisely as I went about. Eventually though, I found my ferret... in the front room where we entered with an old man that resembled Lennin or some old soviet revolutionary with a bald head and a sharp gotee in old clothing... that most fit the location. The ghost hunters had a most uneventful night with only really bad personal experiences and no physical evidence.
But my arrival would apparently wake the dead as seen later.
I was talking with the creepy apparent owner of the house and was told that he recognized my ferret as the child of two of his previous ferrets that he had sadly sold but been very fond of. He had a rather large collection of ferrets that enjoyed running around the room in a most playful manner. It was just about then, that something happened. A mirror behind us started flipping and moving erratically in a most strange way that caught all of our attention, but then stopped after the old man grabbed it.
All eyes were on the wall and as soon as the mirror stopped moving, the other objects started. All were pictures in picture frames, which were remarkably modern. They had a dark frame along the edge with glass in the center that would hold up the image or picture.
One after another they started bouncing and shaking violently and caused one other ghost hunter and I quite enough of a scare and a sense of fear that we both invoked an old phrase "By the power of Jesus Christ I command you to leave!" we both rebuked. At that very instant, all the pictures on the wall fell back to their normal positions and ceased to move for the rest of the dream.
We both sighed a sigh of relief, but the other ghost hunters were unhappy. The event had caught them so much off guard that they didn't have any "real" evidence and started to find other ways to debunk the situation. Thinking about it myself I realized that the weather outside was rather windy with some storms overhead that seemed to be quite strong. I contemplated the image in my imagination (while dreaming) in my head. I visualized (which was surprisingly as difficult as it is in RL) a schematic of the frames, and noted that their design made them so that they would fit snug against the wall, with the frame bordering an air pocket behind the glass.
Then I imagined a high pressure pocket of air behind the glass and rapidly deflated the pressure from the other side. I couldn't work out numbers but if the force per square inch behind the glass were sufficiently greater then the force per square inch on the other side of the glass, I could imagine a net force pushing perpendicular to the glass that would have the net effect of lifting the picture frames against gravity. If the change in air-pressure were slow however, the two would likely equilibrate before anything so drastic would occur however, but a rapidly changing air-pressure I imagined might be able to give us just that effect. I shared it with one of the other ghost hunters and he became very irrate noting that he had overheard on the radio that one of the largest low pressure systems ever recorded was thought to be passing nearby and that it might have just hit our location at that moment.
So, in the end, were the pictures moved by ghosts or by weather? That is the question of the dream.
I was able to recall a second dream last night, but not nearly as long or as interesting.
Dream 2.1
The second dream involved watching TV once again (I don't own a TV which is most bizzare). I was watching rare footage of some crazy young man who was chasing down a jaguar... but it looked like some over-sized mangy dog from the set. The video claimed to have amazing footage of a giant electrical spark phenomena that occurred because of a massive charge build-up on the jaguars fur.
The chase went across fields and through old villages as this poor creature tried to escape the crazy human who was bent on becoming it's prey O_o. The video ended with nothing of any interest, but then claimed that the event happened on another non-released video that followed (which makes no sense). This time, I was chasing the jaguar - or at least I was in first person doing this. I don't recall why.
I went through a maze of abandoned backyard buildings from old greenhouses to tool sheds as I chased this thing down to try and X_X corner it! This chase lasted a good couple of minutes as I became amazed at how deep the maze of buildings went. I only realized how stupid this might be when I started seeing human and animal skeletons around (apparently they didn't try chasing it). Eventually I got what I wanted though and it was none too happy.
Cornered it lept at me and I found myself wrestling with it and literally trying to keep it's jaw shut by grabbing it's muzzle and crushing down on it with my fists while I body slammed the poor creature into walls. *I wasn't winning as it was trying to rip itself free and was flailing it's whole body back and forth.
It never got free from me, but I woke up before then. Who knows, maybe something else also lived back there and ate us both! (Is digested)
Well there we go... that's almost a bit too long to put in my paper journal, I have these epicly long dreams quite often - I'd love to be lucid for the entirety of them.
