NON-DREAM DREAM LUCID
this dream took place on a fictional hill in middleburgh. it was if instead of going down a flat road into the suburbs as you turn past the telephone company, you went up a hill which would round a few turns, go past a large facility - a school or factory of sorts, then you would find isolated houses further up the road. the driveway of our house was on this road and circled around the back of the house. i was on this driveway when the dream began. i was sitting in the sabaru talking with mom. we were waiting for frank to come out. mom and frank were aout to leave on a trip. i was being left to take care of the animals. it was a grey early evening, it looked as if it was about to rain. a dull grey blanketed the sky. frank came out and asked if i was going anywhere because he wanted to use the sabaru instead of the Z because they were going to be crossing the border into canada. it then began to rain and i though it might begin to storm. when it got darker my parents left. i was too involved in talking to them that i forgot to get out of the car. i was telling frank that if he was going to canada i wanted some gas money, because that was gas that i paid for in the tank. there was an unidentified person in the back seat. frank did not say anything only gestured with his hand and asked me "are you coming along? i thought you weren't coming with us?" "No," i said and as frank slowed the car down i opened the door and get out into the rainy night.
the car pulled away. i was at the bottom of the hill by the telephone company. i started walking. it was dark now and raining pretty hard. i looked behind me and saw the schoharie county bus puling up next to me about to go up the hill. a lady had signaled the bus already so i walked over and boarded the bus. before i did so i remember very vividly looking at my hands, dripping wet, counting the change i had in my pocket. i saw quarters and some nickles and dimes. i didnt know for sure but i thought i had enough. the old lady in front of me stood at the top of the stairs. i thought she had finihsed paying her fare. while waiting for the lady i dumped all the change i had into the fare collecting machine. then the lady, who i guess had been counting her money put hers in too. the total went past a dollar for hers and i was nine cents short on my own. the bus lady was very nice and said, peculiarly, "thank you, erich, you did very well." "thanks i said, and sat in the front. i was dripping wet. i remember the feeling of the bus jolting forward as it started and rolling to the side as it made the right turn. rain droplets pattered the windows. i saw the orange lights of the factory as we passed by. i was comforted by this setting. i was almost home.
