Although I have had Lucid Dreams before, I have never tried to have them. After reading up on a few techniques last night, I decided to try it out.

When I first hit the sack, I told myself a few times, "You will be Lucid, you will remember." That lasted about 5 minutes and I zonked out. I guess was more tired than I thought!

I awokemuch later and after a bit, I remembered that I was trying to have a Lucid Dream. I was kinda like, "Oh ya. You will be Lucid, you will remember." Then boom, back to sleep. Oh well. At least I was getting some good sleep.

THe next time I awoke, I remember that I had just had a dream but it fadded to quickly from my memory to recall. So then I really got into it and told myself that I was gonna make this happen. I was very possitive about the whole thing since I know it should come pretty easy to me. And... out.

I woke up early this morning but way too early to get up. So I knew that this was the time. Since most of the dreams I normally recall take place in the AM anyway, I knew this was my chance.

I concentrated very intently this time but without so much effort that I was stressing myself. Just enough to stay fucussed on what I was saying; "You will be Lucid, you will remember." A funny thing started to happen, somehow my words changed from "You will" to "You are". I didn't try to do this either. It just happened. So anyway, every time I found my mind wondering, I made an effort to think about only what I was saying. Also, I found something that helped me "go under" much quicker. I listened to myself breath, in and out, in and out. I continued to say to myself, "You are Lucid, you are dreaming." Don't how that happened but I was now saing it! With every inhale I listened to it and though about 'sleep' entering my lungs. With every exhale I though about 'awake-ness' leaving my body. This was VERY hypnotic and I could feel myself going to sleep.

Now, I KNOW this was effective because a car would occasionally pass by and wake me up. I didn't realize that I was actually almost asleep until a distraction woke me. I though, "This is working!" So whenever I would be awken a little I would remember to focus on breathing and continue to do the chant.

Before I knew it images began to appear but I was completely aware. Almost like I was still awake, But I somehow knew I was dreaming. As the images got more and more clear I could feel myself slipping away. But as this happened, I was reminded to keep chanting, "You are Lucid, you are dreaming."

Twice, I was slightly startled by a very intense tingling that ran down my body from my head to my feet. I was like I was going numb, or the feeling you get when your leg goes to sleep. It was so interesting I started to almost wake-up but went right back into the chant and listened to my breathing again. It happened again a minute or so later but I was ready for it and ignored it. Then, I began to dream!
