Congrats on the Lucid. Nice job recognizing the environment as a dreamsign. That's always a difficult one to notice. At least for me, Though I do recognize it once in a while.

I love the ladder climbing, that must have been cool. I need to remember to look at my watch more often after already being Lucid, to help get me in the habit of doing it in dreams. Plus dream watches are always fascinating.

It's fun sometimes, exploring houses, or any kind of dream place. Most dream places seem like a never ending maze, with always something interesting around every corner.

Nice job on the second one too. I love when that happens. Sometimes when you have a really good Lucid, it makes it easier to do it again in the same night. It's like your brain is already in Lucid mode or something. Or maybe your just so excited about the last one that it carries over into the next dreams.

Nice work on the long LD, sounds like it was a ripper! Two in one night is a bonus as well. I actually had an experience like that one this morning - became lucid, woke up and then re-entered the same dream without a break in consciousness. It was very cool because i've never even really tried to WILD.

Nice one, DQ! I think I'm going to start my own journal, in celebration of learning to WILD and having multiple LD's all in the same night. I'm excited.

This will open up a whole new world of possibilities for me!

Oh, I just remembered, this was supposed to be about you. Sorry about that.

My WILDs are just like the one you talked about, where you suddenly found yourself in a dream.

      Best of wishes,

      DS

Thanks for your comments guys! And DS it would be great to start a journal yourself. It's a neat way to share your lucid experiences with people who 'get it'.

Jeez Packmania your last lucid was pretty steamy! Nice work!

Hopefully I'll have some more lucids to post soon. I'm all fired up since having that double whammy! Lucid dreaming rocks!!!

      Cool On a roll now...

Got lucid again last night. I was determined to prove to myself that I could do it at will lol!

I dreamed I was with a work colleague, Anita. We were outside and I looked up at the sky and noticed a cloud formation that looked a lot like Darth Vader. I pointed this out to Anita and thought how I needed to do a reality test. Even though it felt so real I still kind of expected to discover I was dreaming as I'm so used to be surprised now! I looked at my watch and sure enough the display was all wrong so knew I was dreaming. I was now in a movie theatre and I looked at the person next to me. It was a young boy. I marvelled at the detail and vividness of the dream but then I got woken up by my husband getting ready for work! Sob sob!

That's the second time I've become lucid because of a cloud formation - quite cool! New dreamsign for me I think!

Congrats. Nothing like a good night of Lucidity to motivate one into inducing more. Too bad you got woken up. I hate that. Good deal on the new cloud dreamsign. Most of the time when I look at the clouds in the sky, they form into tornadoes. And tornadoes sometimes get me Lucid. So I guess clouds are a dreamsign for me too, in a round about way.

Congratulations. I'm sure you're happy you know you can do it at will.

By the way, where in the world did you get that amazing watch?

Yeah I can pretty much do it at will in that if I ever really really want one I can have one but it still requires so much effort that I certainly can't do it every night. It would simply be too exhausting and disruptive.

Got the watch off ebay for an arm and a leg. No longer seem to be available now though

Exclamation Ridiculous Hair-Brained Half-Baked Lucid Scheme

This really is quite a good dream including the nonlucid part and well worth reading I'm sure

I went to bed at about 1am. I woke up at 6.30am and did a WBTB. My WILD attempt - as most of my regular dream journal readers will be used to - was fairly lame as usual. I really didn’t think it was going to work and was considering getting up and on with my day but was feeling lazy so let myself drift off to sleep.

I dreamed nonlucidly for a while and then the craziness started. I dreamed I woke up in the house I lived in as a teenager. My mother and sister were there. My mum was pissed off at me for lazily lying in bed trying to get lucid and said she needed me to go to the grocery store. Next thing I’m walking up the road pushing a shopping trolley. I’m thinking about how I didn’t get lucid. Suddenly I encounter a young woman who is walking along the footpath towards me. Our paths meet and we do that thing where we both try to pass on the same side then both switch to the other side then back again getting in each other’s way. We laugh but then she starts climbing over the top of my trolley to get past. I think this is pretty odd behaviour. There’s an elderly man walking behind me and I turn and look at him incredulously. He looks rather bemused. I decide to do a reality test, however instead of performing my standard digital watch check I instead find myself holding up a five-stone diamond ring and studying it. I decide it 'looks normal' so I keep pushing the trolley along the footpath.

I then have a brief awakening. I’m lying in my bed annoyed at my stupid reality test and wondering what I was doing looking at a stupid ring instead of my watch. I decide to try and DEILD. I lie there for a short time with my eyes shut trying to imagine being back pushing the trolley. It doesn't feel like it's going to work. I feel like I've woken up too much. So I open my eyes and have a FA.

The room is bright with sunlight and immediately I think how now I'm definitely too awake to get back to sleep. (Love the irony!) Not only is everything completely vivid and clear but I feel completely conscious and wide awake. Being a bit of a half-wit it didn’t occur to me to wonder why my sleep mask was no longer on. Then suddenly I notice a whole lot of water leaking through the wall above my bedroom window. I sit up and see that rain is pouring in through the curtains. The floor is sopping wet. I figure I must have left the windows wide open so I push the curtains aside and check. One window is shut and the other is only open a crack. ‘Jeez we must have a leak in the external wall’ I think. Then even though I'm convinced I'm really awake, I know how easy it is to be fooled and so not wanting to miss two lucid opportunities in one night I do a reality test. I look at my watch and it disappears from my wrist right in front of my eyes.

I immediately realize I’m dreaming but I’m having trouble with my vision. I feel very close to waking up so I strain to keep looking around at things. I decide to fly out my window so I can at least have done something whilst lucid. I quickly open my bedroom window and remembering the rule to float first I grab hold of the window ledge and try and will my body to lift into the air. This takes a lot of effort and mind power but eventually my legs rise up behind me and I float out the window and down onto the ground below.

I’m now on a street that is not my own. It feels like early evening. There are quite a few people scattered around. Everyone is wearing red and blue clothing and I wonder where my mind got this from. For some reason I feel like fighting with a DC and using my lucid superpowers. This is not my current lucid goal. I don’t even think of my current goal, I just start formulating this crackpot plan to get a DC to attack me so I can get some sweet revenge. Unfortunately none of the DCs is showing any interest in me. They’re all just nonchalantly strolling around.

Then I see a guy who looks to be in his late teens/early twenties walking past so I go over to him and say “Do you wanna have sex with me right now?” He looks slightly startled but agrees immediately. My evil plan is to get this poor guy, whom I shall refer to as DC1, completely aroused and then change my mind about having sex in the hope that he’ll try and rape me and I can then use my superpowers on him. What a hair-brained idea! (BTW, this is how useless I am at dream control; I have to hatch an elaborate plan in order to get a DC to do what I want )

Anyway, there’s lots of people around and I don’t feel like getting it on in front of them and I also know that DC1 probably won’t attack me with lots of people around so I lead him down an alleyway. At the end of the alleyway is a grassy field so we go into it. I see a plant with a spider’s web on it and on the web are two stick insects. I marvel at the detail and how my brain has probably put them there because I photographed stick insects recently in real life with my new macro lens. I quickly remind myself of what I’ve done so far in the dream to help with recall when I wake up. I’m loving how stable the dream is.

There is a dentist’s chair sitting randomly in the middle of the field and I decide it would be handy to make out on. There is another young guy standing near the chair and it turns out he’s a friend of DC1’s. I walk over and sit in the dentist’s chair. As I do so I hear DC1 telling DC2 that he and I are gonna have sex and I can tell DC2 is envious. Then I realize it would be much more fun using my lucid powers on both of them at once since I’m only dreaming and absolutely NOTHING can happen to me. So I turn round and call out “your friend can join in if he wants!”

I’m wanting to speed things up in case I wake up so I decide to start taking my clothes off. I jump off the chair and start stripping. The guys come over to me and are now both naked. By some sort of bizarre twist I am now actually horny myself and my plan to use my superpowers on them has gone completely. I now actually want to have sex with them both! I ask them if they’ve got condoms on (which is of course pretty stupid and pointless of me since it’s a dream). They say yes and I see that they do. I’m quickly stripping off my clothes which are the same clothes I’d been wearing in real life the day before, but as soon as I get completely naked I wake up.
      What a shame!

Jeez what a hilarious dream though. It seems I’m a bit of a minx when lucid!

      Lucid time = 7 minutes

Talking Crazy Aeroplane Dream ~ Nonlucid but you have to read this dream!

This dream was nonlucid but is so hilarious and so unbelievably vivid and realistic with such a clear but absurd storyline that I just have to post it. Why on earth I didn’t do a reality test at some point during this fiasco is completely beyond me!

Basically, I’m in a car with my mother who is driving us along the north-western motorway in my home town. We are meant to be catching a plane later that afternoon to go overseas. I’m aware that we were originally traveling in two separate cars but there was some problem with my car and so I’d had to pull over and park my car on the side of the motorway and get into mum’s car. We're driving along talking about what to do about my broken down car.

Next thing I know, somehow I’m no longer in the car with mum but am in a large passenger jet which is zooming along the motorway. Mum is still in the car traveling along behind the plane. I don’t question how I suddenly got on the plane as I am too concerned about the fact that my mum is still in the car and is going to miss the flight. I'm hoping she somehow can get herself onto the plane before we take off. I’m right up the front of the plane sitting beside the pilot. The cockpit opens directly to the passenger area of the plane and there is a large space between us and the front row of the passenger area. The plane goes faster and faster along the motorway then the pilot rotates and we take off into the air. I’m a bit concerned that we didn’t have quite enough speed up and sure enough the plane is struggling to gain altitude but we finally make it.

I’m terribly worried about mum being left behind on the motorway. I'm also wondering how I'm going to organise getting my car removed from the side of the motorway. I decide I'll get a friend of mine and his girlfriend to go and pick it up since it will require two people to do the job. I start thinking about mum having been left behind again so I quickly pull out my cellphone and phone her from the aeroplane. The cellphone works completely normally. I frantically tell her to just go to the airport and hopefully they will get her on another flight and she can meet up with me on our stopover.

As we are talking on the phone I suddenly realise I can I see her sitting in the front row of the passengers. I go over to her and continue discussing how we are going to get her to catch up with the flight she has missed. Then it dawns on me that she is no longer on the other end of the phone but sitting right in front of me! I put my cellphone down and exclaim incredulously, “Hang on a minute! You haven’t missed the flight after all. You’re actually on it! Wow! This is brilliant! How on earth did you get on the plane when it was already in the air?” She replies (wait for it, coz this is fantastic) that she rang the airport and they came and picked her up because they have this taxi service whereby they can fly you onto the plane if you’ve missed your flight. I’m utterly astounded at this incredible service from the airline. I sit there thinking how brilliant it is that by being late we’ve avoided the airport queues and the rigmarole of passport and security checks.

This leads me to realize with dismay that we don’t have our passports. I mention this to mum who starts looking worried. Then I start trying to work out whether there’s any chance they’ll let us through immigration without our passports since we didn’t mean to leave them behind and it’s only because we were running late that we don’t have them. I then realize I don’t know where we are actually flying to. I’m hoping it’s not America because I know there is zero chance of getting into the US without a passport. I then call out to all the passengers, “excuse me, where is this plane going?” A woman calls out “Los Angeles then San Francisco”. I turn to mum in despair and say “we won’t get in to either of those places”. The pilot then turns around and says “don’t worry, we’ll sort something out”.

I then grab a magazine and sit in a chair wondering if I can get my husband to post our passports over and thinking about how we don’t have any luggage with us either. I start thinking it’s such a debacle that we’d have been better off missing the flight altogether and just paying for another one. I then think to myself “God, I wish I could discover this was all a dream and just wake up”. Then I did.

What a complete MORON. As for thinking ‘I wish I could wake up’… what’s with that?? What lucid dreamer ever thinks ‘I wish I could wake up’?

Funny stuff. That second dream is pretty dream typical, with all the things going wrong. Interesting how the car became a plane. That kind of thing happens to me all the time in driving dreams. I had a Lucid yesterday where my car became a sled before I realized I was dreaming. a lot of times my car will become my bike too.

That was a nice Lucid too. That must have been fun messing with them like that. Too bad you woke up. That's typical of what happens to me too.
But who made up that rule about floating before you jump?
I just go for it and dive head first most of the time. I usually don't worry about falling or anything. Very rarely I find myself afraid of the jump.

I made up the rule about floating before i jump and discussed it with DQ ages ago, as a saftey mechanism for real life. The human brain is so fragile, and chances for things like mental illness, or some kind of intense hallucinogenic experience are potentially quite statistically high.
(or even just some kind of sleep disorder involving sleep walking.)

It seems to me, wise to cover your back in case of some unfortunate future event where you are not in full control of your own mind, and mistake reality for a lucid dream. Unlikely but certainly not impossible. Makes sense to not build potentialy fatal patterns of behaviour in our minds.

So to err on the side of caution, why jump out of a window, or off a building, when you can jump into the air, float and then fly out?
The experience is virtually identical in both cases, but the risk, should you be unfotunate enough to loose your mind in the waking world, would be a disaster and most likely fatal.

Seems to me to be a small price to pay, when the odds are potentially so high.

Im rambling on, but thought i'd explain the rule.
I'd suggest it especially highly to anyone interested in lucid dreaming who also experiments with hallucinogenic drugs or has a history of mental illness in their family.

It's your brain, program your neural pathways how you see fit.

I had a similar nonlucid where I and 2 other ppl were sitting behind a single coffee table video conferencing with each other via skype, at one point I stood up and shook one of the guys hands and thought "wow, this skype is getting really good"

I see this in a different light. one of the advantages of LD-ing is that even in non lucids there is this safety line, if it's crossed and you don't feel at ease with everything that's going on you have a much better chance of turning the dream around, becoming lucid, or indeed waking up, than a dream neophyte ever would.
TAKE DV members advice with caution! some have had zero or 1-2 LD's yet act like gurus
      TOTAL LD's (almost all DILD/MILD) =160!!

Lol! That is classic! *wipes tears of laughter from eyes* I've been rather sad today but your dream story has made me smile again and has reminded me why I love this hobby so much. Thanks Yuriy.

Interesting dream, DQ. If you have trouble with control, just remind yourself that you are dreaming and that anything is possible in a dream. (Dream control is easier said than done, I suppose).

      Btw, that was hilarious yuriy.
Haven't had a lucid dream in 3 years, and I'm looking to get back into it.

      Distant Rainbow

I woke up at 5am after a bit of a lucid disaster. By this I mean, one of the most frustrating failed reality tests ever! I’d been dreaming that I was getting all dressed up to go out for dinner. I arrived at the venue and walked inside and saw all my friends sitting around a table on the other side of the room. As I walked across the restaurant I could hear them all talking loudly about dreaming. They were practically chanting “Dreaming! Dreaming! Dreaming!” So I do a reality test. I look at my digital watch and it’s blank. I decide I should be suspicious of this so I wait and see if the display comes up. The words “AT DATA” come up on the screen so I decided it’s normal and carry on dreaming like a nonlucid moron.

Naturally I was pretty disappointed upon waking up as I had been really craving a lucid so that I could achieve my current goal which is to fly over a rainbow. I lay in bed awake for about 45 minutes then went back to sleep and got lucid twice!

The first time was when a very tall guy came and stood next to me. I don’t know where I was but suddenly this guy was standing next to me and his crotch was level with my face. I started thinking how if this was a dream I would just pull his pants down and thinking this made me recognize that it was in fact a dream! So… I pulled his pants down! He had a hard-on and his dick was really long, like about 8 or 9 inches It was right there level with my face so you can kind of guess what I started doing! This got me pretty horny but unfortunately the dream ended and I catapulted into a new nonlucid dream.

I was now with my husband, Chris. We were walking along in a small English town in the evening. Suddenly I saw two lesbians who I know from work. They were going into a house for a party. They invited me and Chris to come too and said the theme was “Hippie”. They said the party was for people who weren't afraid to express themselves. I could see everyone inside dressed in hippie gear. I love hippie clothing so said that yeah we’d come but first I wanted to go home and get into some hippie clothes so I’d be back in a while. A guy was waiting behind us to get inside the house so Chris and I then stepped past him and kept walking along the street.

We came to the edge of the town and there was a field in front of us. We started walking into it and then we saw a girl sitting on a park bench. Chris went over and spoke to her while I waited. When he came back he looked really upset and was almost crying (my husband never cries). I realized that he must be crying because they’d been having an affair and it was over. That was the only plausible explanation. My heart sank in utter despair believing this to be real life. I asked him anxiously “what was that about?” He replied with one sentence but I couldn’t make out the first two words he said. So I asked him “what did you just say? I didn’t hear you” I was pretty upset and agitated by now as he looked like he had something to hide. He repeated his answer but again I couldn’t hear him clearly. I was properly in a panic now convinced that my lovely husband was in love with another woman. It was horrible. “What did you say!” I practically shouted at him in desperation. Again he replied and again I couldn’t make out what he said.

At this point I just thought ‘fuck it, I’m doing a reality test’. I looked at my watch and sure enough the digital numbers were scrolling across the screen. With great relief I knew it was only a dream! I turned back to Chris and said with a smile “Don’t worry, this is just a dream so it doesn’t matter”. He relaxed and smiled. Then suddenly an incredibly bright light started shining behind me. It was unbelievably bright. I was apprehensive about turning around as I felt it might wake me up so I asked Chris what it was. He said “it’s the sun”. I then remembered my lucid goal which was to make a rainbow appear. I figured the bright sun could be useful. No sooner had I thought this than I looked over Chris’s shoulder and saw a rainbow in the distance!

I started calculating whether I’d be able to make it over to this rainbow before waking up. Then suddenly Chris jumped backwards and looked down at the ground. He looked afraid of something. I wondered what had him looking so concerned. I knew I could just ignore this and head off towards the rainbow because he was just a DC, but it didn’t feel right to just leave him standing there afraid so I asked him what it was and told him not to worry because this was just a dream and I would be able to deal with whatever it was. I walked over and examined the ground wondering what scary thing I was going to see. The ground looked okay but then suddenly Chris reached down and put his hand into the dirt and pulled out a huge green locust. It was about the size of a football. I looked at it and thought ‘that’s weird’ then I felt myself waking up. I tried to stabilize but it was too late.

And... yes I have told my husband about my dream naughtiness and no he doesn't care! We have a great relationship!

Two lucids in one night. *whistles* Lucky you.

I wish I had more meaningful lucids like that.

Well, except for the locust part...
Haven't had a lucid dream in 3 years, and I'm looking to get back into it.
