This happened while I was taking a nap. It wasn't a scheduled nap, and I think it was too long, but it was way worth it. Just look at this dream.
You can call it Fall, but I say I like Autumn
I was in my house and it was time to go to bed, so I did. I started to have a dream (this is now a dream inside a dream ) This is going to sound really confusing. In the dream-dream I went to Dream Views, to jot down a note in my dream journal I think. The only word in the post was "love" but I was having trouble spelling it. Loove, lovve, lov and so on. I think this is how I realized I was lucid, cause I couldn't spell a four letter word (though I wouldn't put it past me). So I tried to remember DVs lucid task and came up with going to the beach because I didn't check what the tasks for August were. *face palm*
I decided to try to the dream spinning technique because it had worked for me in the past. I started spinning, but it felt more like rolling side to side as if i were lying down. The current scenery disappeared and I thought of the beach. Nothing happened. Was I awake? It did look suspiciously like the inside of my eyelids. I slowly opened them, yep I woke up. (Looking back on this I realize it was a big fat false awakening. *big face palm*) Sure enough, I was in my bed, but my room looked odd, sort of orangey and wooden. The weirdest part was my brother was also sleeping at the other end of my bed, propped up slightly against my leg. He was mumbling something about a girl. He often talks in his sleep so that wasn't too weird. I rationalized him being there somehow, move away a little, then got out of bed. I went over to my computer and did something. Now a video was playing, I can't recall what it was but my brother came over and started watching, I closed it out and headed upstairs. The stairs appeared exactly as they do in my house. On the right wall b the staircase there was a somewhat long message wishing me a happy 18th birthday. It was eerily written in bright red lipstick, or maybe even blood, the way you would see it written on a mirror in a horror flick. I almost accepted this, but then I realized it was Aug 14 (too bad I can never remember the date in RL, eh? ) which is nearly a week after my birthday. Then my grandma came down the stairs to hug me, now I understood, it was all her doing. She told me it was special and I should be able to celebrate it longer than usual. She was excitedly talking about our plans to eat dinner somewhere. I got the picture of The Inn at the Abingtons, or some kind of similar buffet style place. My grandma mentioned it was her favorite place, although they had gone downhill. She told me she lost a friend there, and that they also stained one of her best outfits that she would always wear when they went to eat there.
Next, once I was upstairs, I remembered leaving an MRE somewhere. It was on the roof. I decided to get it before we left. Someone, (PJ's mom??) offered me help getting it down. It turns out she happened to have a some kind of cherry picker/backhoe type vehicle parked near our house. How convenient! I walked over to the machine and climbed onto a seat at the end of the extendable arm. It had those restraints that suspended roller coasters do, the kind that go over your shoulders. They were really big for me but that's okay. The arm was extended out already, and she needed to retract it to move. I started flying back, impossibly fast, and for a long time. The arm would have been about 1000m long if this were real. I started to slip out of the seat. Once it was finished retracting, I pulled myself on better, and then she started spinning. Again, impossibly fast. Around and around several full rotations, I have no idea why. It was kind of fun, but I again I was slipping out a little. More importantly I was coming really close to some trees on the side. On the one pass, I was sure I would hit them. I closed my eyes, and nothing happened. I just kept spinning. The thought of passing through objects did cross my mind momentarily because it's one of my favorite things to do in dreams. But I was quickly distracted from this logic, by my shoes! They were slipping off because of all the g force. Slowly but surely, I felt them loosen, then one right off, then the left. After this it stopped spinning. The cherry picker/salt & pepper shaker put me down. Now there was a long cloth attached to the seat. I took it and needed to place the other end on the roof.
Even after all of the excitement, the cherry picker was still across the field to the side of my house where it was in the first place. I started walking with the long cloth in hand. I noticed that there was a ton of tents set up in this field. It looked like a lot of them belonged to us, my brother must have been playing with them. (In reality we only have one tent, and I did notice it in the city of tents I describe here.) All the effing tents made it difficult to move the thick cloth through, I think I was running out of slack too. Then I found a half eaten handy snack, bread sticks and cheese, at the corned of the building next to my house. I picked it up and considered eating it for a second since it was probably mine in the first place. I'm not sure if I ever made it to the other side of the house where the item on the roof was located. I think I may have gone to the backyard instead. I saw that my family was going over our next door neighbor's house for dinner. I picked up a rake that was buried in leaves, I needed it to do something to the roof. This, however, was next to our chimney, an entirely different spot than the first thing on the roof. I thought about what a pain it would be, having to rake all the leaves that were soon to come. Then i remembered how pretty it gets in the Fall. I decided Fall was my favorite season. I pondered why, and came up with a surprisingly intelligent reason. The transition to Fall is a favorable climate change (for me at least). The transitions to Winter and Summer are uncomfortable changes, they're too extreme. Spring is a pleasant change too, I thought, but I'm plagued with terrible allergies then, so I would rather 3 more months of harsh Winter to be honest with you. Autumn is the best. Plus that's when Halloween is, which is by far the coolest holiday. All this was running through my mind as I walked into our neighbor's yard. Their dog was out, but it looked enormous, good thing he's friendly.
The title is proudly taken from the lyrics of a Barney song if anyone is wondering. (1:45) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YlXwzvc7vlo
I just realized how absurd this was after reading it again, it all seemed to make sense at the time.
I still can't believe I picked up on something as little as a typo/device failure (more like brain failure actually) but I didn't notice any of that bizarre stuff. I almost noticed passing through the trees, but look! Shoes! Ooooh
