Thread: Last night I dreamt that somebody loved me....

This is just going to be a bog standard dream journal but I felt I needed a Smiths quote for the title.

Hopefully by posting my dreams here as well as writing in my dreams journal I will be able to gain much better dream recall and eventually lucid dreams.

I also tend to have pretty bizarre surreal dreams with some logic behind them so it may even be interesting reading.

Anyway, I had a dream last night that I was siting in the car park near Northampton train station with Larry David and Jeff from Curb your enthusiam, we were just sitting around waiting for something (I'm not sure what). The car park was empty except for a blue car, Jeff went to get a burger and I really wanted one.

This seemed really weird, but my friend said that it may mean that I don'l feel that I'm getting the recognition I deserve, which correctly or not is exactly how I see things. I don't think he knows that either. Car parks seem to feature a lot in my dreams so I'm going to reality check everytime I'm in a car park.

I didn't remember any dreams last night annoyingly, I didn't sleep well either.

Last nights dream was weird and boring at the same time. I was trading insults with a teenager in a kind of sports shop. It sold football scarves (including Liverpool ) and board games. I remember there being some kind of prelude to this but I don' remember a thing about it.

I fell asleep again and woke up an hour late! I do remember dreaming about a postman cycling down a street being congratulated about something but I was in too much of a rush to try and remember anymore. Still definately an immediate improvement in recall.

I have been sleeping a few nights on my mates sofa in London so I haven't recalled many dreams although I did have a few before I left:

08/07 - I was back living at my old house and I was helping my dad throw out a few old mattresses. There were so many missed dream signs in this dream, firstly my old house, secondly I was driving my grandads car (I can't drive) and thirdly I saw myself driving from afar.

I then had one of my awesome epic dreams. As with many of these I was in a warzone. I dreamt that the train I was on (I wasn't a soldier) was being shelled. I managed to escape and started playing football on the beach. There were many more happenings but I can't remember them.

09/07 - This was an awesome dream. There was a casino in either my old school or my place of work (not sure which I recall being there in the evening). I was having a game of pool there with a few friends (all dream friends, nobody I know in real life was in this dream) when they decided to close the casino early.
I shouted a swear word at the Japanese owners as I left and as a consequence I had to go on the run (perhaps they were Japanese Mafia). I remember hiding in very run down, dark streets. I met someone in a pub who told me that everyone thought I was a hero for doing what I did. I decided to go back and face the music.
The Japanese owner demanded £1,000,000 to let me off but instead we agreed that I would run the casino in order to try and earn the £1,000,000. I woke up before the casino night was over but I remember talking to a hen pecked husband called alan and a really tall woman (she was at least nine feet tall!).

A great nights dreaming last night!!!!

They were all pretty vivid but once agaib I missed many obvious signs that I was dreaming.

Dream #1

I was playing football with a balloon with two waking life friends. We were inside a strange room with a football pitch marked out. I went one nil up despite it being two on one and I remembered thinking that there seven minutes left of the match and I would be defending for most of them. The physics of this dream were very real, the balloon floated up when I kicked it and it was very difficult to control. My dreams are definitely getting more vivid.
Later on in this dream the wife of one of my friends came over and started showing me pictures from a portfolio, it seemed that she used to be a fashion designer or something.

Dream #2

Christmas at my grans, not much happened but I found my presents at the bottom of the freezer for some reason. I remember being very hungry waiting for my christmas dinner.

Dream #3

This was full of dream signs. The dream started with me driving my friends wife (different friend from the first dream), I'm not sure where we were going but we pulled into a service station because I needed the toilet. My passenger seemed very annoyed and i hurried to find a toilet. I went into a pub in the service station, the toilet was down some stairs next to a room where people were dancing around in school uniform.
There was a queue for the three urinals and to my shock a very large tatooed man started urinating into the mouth of someone in the queue. He seemed to be enjoying it and he was a very large man so I didn't get involved. After relieving myself I left the toilet only to find that it was now attached to a hotel room. For some reason I had taken my trainers off and as I scrambled to find them I got a call from someone called Woody berating me for leaving my friend in the car (She used to go out with someone called Woody before she met my friend). I really struggled to find my shoes and I was getting a bit panicky to get back to the car. Two strange men helped me find them, I remember the shoes exactly, they were white except for a blue circle. At this point i calmed myself down, realised I was dreaming but unfortunately I woke myself up rather than become lucid.

I think I'm making progress, I remember my dreams much better now but I'm still missing big dreamsigns. I wonder why the sleeping me thinks I can drive......

It's been a terrible week for dream recall. Probably because I have been staying up late and struggling to get up in time. The only thing I remember was from lasy night:

Strange platform change

I was at a train station (looked like Kentish Town) and instead of changing platforms by taking the stairs I would get on a train, ring a bell to tell it to stop and get off the other side. I did this numerous times until it all went wrong and the train didn't stop. Then I woke up.

Dreamed on 22nd July..

Mansion Party

I was in a huge mansion for some kind of party. I started off on a stairway crowded with people, I needed the toilet and I found the bathroom very quickly. It was a huge room full of urinals and a small room behind a curtain (I wonder what was beihnd there). After I pushed my way through the crowd down the stairs, I went into a dining room but I wasn't that hungry so I just had a delicious long jaffa cake thing. This was a reminder of how vivid dreams can be because it tasted really nice, it was gooey and orangy.
I went into another room and spend some time with my friends Richard and Ben and Ben's sister Emma (who I was unsuccessfully trying to flirt with). I'm not sure what we were doing (I vaguely recall some debate and doubtless there was much drinking) but it was soon time for bed.
We were sleeping in a field of tents like a rock festival, I soon got hungry and decided to go and get some dinner. For some reason I decided to move my tent but it proved to be too much effort. Now I was looking for some dinner in an airport terminal, I found a small stall providing leftover food for the guests and got some lamb from someone who looked like Michael Palin (they also had duck but I decided I couldn't get it for some reason) I decided that I wanted chocolate as well but I couldn't take my dinner into any of the shops and I didn't want to leave it lying around or rush it.
Back at the camp site the was a man with a huge hot air balloon. He lived in it and I wondered how he slept in it.

Dreamed on 23rd July. (lucid in bold)

First Lucid

I was in a normal (very boring) dream and something caused me to look at my hands. I had an extra finger growing out of my middle finger and what looked like white roots growing out of my knuckles. Suddenly it was like someone peeled a clear sheet of film from my eyes and I was lucid!

It didn't seem strange at all and I was in what looked like a medieval English town. I saw a figure in a hood and commanded it to catch on fire and it did. I then saw a crowd of people up ahead and I closed my eyes and decided that when I opened them I would be holding a minigun and I was. I started shooting before realising very quickly that I was wasting my first lucid with such antics.
I decided to experiment and I summoned Emma Pierson (an extremely attractive actress), I'm not sure what happened next but it caused me to lose some lucidity so I decided to do something else.
I then decided to try and fly, I flapped my arms but only managed to jump high. At some point during this I saw a sign, I looked away and looked back and the writing had changed. The scene changed dramatically at this time and I decided to try and take more control.
I closed my eyes and told myself that when I open them I will be playing guitar with the Beatles, something must have gone wrong because when I opened them I was playing with Bloc Party instead. I sounded terrible as well.
I got out of that quickly and willed myself to a bedroom, I tried to summon a girl I used to be in love with but I kept seeing error messages like on a PC. I persevered but only managed to lose lucidity I saw a scene from Final Fantasy 7 and I was back to normal dreaming.

I had a false awakening about telling my dad that I had just had a lucid dream then I woke up for real.

Dreamed on 24th July.

At work

I was at work with my friend, he got sacked for having too many till variances. It was a different shop to the one I currently work at.
Suddenly I was walking amoungst a bit crowd of teenagers/kids, they were watching something from a tall building, I don't know what it was. Then I was in a changing room, my friends Ian and Phil were there and preparing for some kind of football match. Their opponants were a team of sci-fi nerds and they were a player short so I volunteered my services. I'm great at football in my dreams so naturally I scored, suddenly it was inside and I was looking for a CD of 'You'll never walk alone' the Liverpool FC anthem. I then realised that I was at work and we had a customer.

I also remember dreaming about my ex-girlfriend. We were talking and slightly flirting but there was no lust or desire on my part.

I annoyed with myself, I had a few good dreams last night but I was too lazy to remember them and write them down when I woke up.

Firstly I remember that I was playing Rugby. That is strange in itself as I hate the game and I haven't played it since I was at school. Anyway I'm a superstar sportman in my dreams and we were winning. Despite the opposition players being huge we pushed them back and I broke through and scored a try.

That's all I remember now, I did recall more earlier on but like I said I was too lazy. Naughty Bad Collin

My dream recall is truly shocking at the moment, I haven't remembered a single scrap of a dream for the past three nights and no amount of milk or bananas is helping. Hopefully I will remember my dreams tonight though as I don't have to get up for work tomorrow.

Dreamed on 31st July:

Slave in a foreign land

The first thing to note about this dream was what happened before I fell asleep. I had a few beers around a friends house earlier in the evening but I think I was sober when I went to sleep. However, strangly whenever I closed my eyes I saw an image of this message board and I kept seeing it flash through me, later on I saw strange lights. I know I was awake during all this because I could see my hand in front of me as I lay in bed. I reality tested by trying to put my fingers through my hand and of course I couldn't. I was startled by a ripping sound which definitely did not originate in reality and managed to put it all out of my mind and have some proper sleep. I don't know if this was the beginnings of a WILD or something but it was certainly strange.....

Eventually I got to sleep and dreamt of a slave in a foreign land. I'm sure if I was the slave or not but some of it was certainly in third person. I think my brain plaigorised most of this dream from a book I have been reading. Later on in his quest to get home he found a sympathiser who let him work in his restaurant. I'm not sure if he got home but he was very hopeful of doing so.

Colleague dinner

I was in a restaurant with two collegues, one of them I knew from school. He kept bringing people from school over to the table.

Improved recall last night....

Uncomfortable gig

I was at a gig with some friends including a girl I used to be in love with and her husband. I don't remember anything about the band because the dream seemed very focused on this girl. I had feelings returning for her and I spent most of my time trying to avoid her. Afterwards they were being affectionate with each other and I was very uncomfortable. I caught a bus home with some other friends. We watched videos at my house, I managed to put the girl out of my mind. I think my gran turned up at some point.

Rugby's burning

There were a lot of fires in this dream. Two of my close friends had some sort of fire based event but I can't recall entirely what. I lived in a pub in this dream and my mum was cooking me tea, she seemed very eager that I stayed in for tea. I went out for a bit and saw another fire engine, I was standing on this when a girl shouted at me. I remember this being on a terraced road much like one where I live. This girl told me that she was the "elephant man", which my dream persona know as a girl on a messageboard who claimed that she was unattractive. This girl was a pretty Asian girl, I grabbed her by the waist and pulled her close (pretty forward for me ) and told her that she is very attractive. I then noticed that she had a lot of glitter on the left side of her face. I went home and started up the stairs, there some biscuits on the stairs which had been left by my gran, I ate one and continued upstairs.


Pretty dull dreams but very relevant to what is currently happening in my life.

Didn't remember much last night.

Strange history lesson.

I was back at my old school, the only lesson I remember was history. I got to school quite early but I hadn't done my homework, in fact I didn't even know the questions set. During the lesson the teacher (not my actual History teacher) started talking to me about a sitcom we had been writing. I had some memory of this and I think I dreamt of us writing something together on a bus previously. We started to work on this sitcom which was really bad because I had saved all the good jokes and lines for my own sitcom.

I haven't been keeping a journal for the last month due to moving house. I have everything set up now so hopefully I will start recallling some more dreams and maybe even get another lucid!!!

My dream recall is shocking at the moment. I haven't remembered any dreams for weeks.

My dream recall is still bad but I have remembered the following in the last week:

12th Sep - Gang

I was in some kind of gang, we were running from the law, I don't think we got caught.

Chimes

Another very vague recollection. Chimes were important for some reason, I was in a school with some very attractive teachers.

14th Sep - Zoo terminal

I was at a weird station with my friend. We went into a golf bar within the station and my friend was interested in a girl there (despite the fact he is married). She didn't return his interest and he got upset and we left. After we left I realised that I had left my coat there, I went back to get it and walked into a cage in a zoo! The room was very familiar because I had dreamt if it before, last time it was in a basement of a house. As I reached the other side of the room I realised that there was a lion blocking my exit, I managed to excape the room and I struggled to keep the door shut before I woke up.

16th Sep - Cardboard

Really bizarre this one. I was in a park with a piece of cardboard, Somehow this piece of cardboard affects the scores of a fantasy football game I play with my friends. I have a race with these two friends and I win and get to a bathroom.

Yeah, I know. Little boxes kept popping up saying things like "Network error, Dll file not found" and stuff like that. I think I may have lost most of my lucidity by this point.

I had a very good nights dreaming last night and I managed to be together enough when I woke up to write most of it down.

19/09 - Massive gathering.

I was in a massive place with lots of people. Sometimes it was a wrestling show, sometimes it was a massive park and sometimes it was a ballroom.
I dreamed that the night before this event I downloaded a lot of stuff onto my PSP for the journey, I don't remember what I downloaded or anything about the journey. Strangely I switched between being in a room with a wrestling ring and being in a massive park with a big screen. There was football on the big screen and I remember it being Derby County v someone (maybe Preston), anyway I befriended the guy sitting next to me and we were supporting Derby. A football bounced over to us and we found some people to have a kick around with but unfortunately we couldn't find anywhere to play. Then it was time for the evening do. My housemate was there as were my parents, My housemate had a map of Richmond on his door. (The only significance this has in my life is that the train I catch home from work terminates at Richmond.) It was time for the ball but I couldn't find any appropriate clothes, we went down to the ballroom and met my old collegue and our best customer from that job. (He used to flirt appalingly with the collegue in question but he was with his wife and two kids on this occasion.) Two friends of my ex-girlfriend were also there with a very attractive girl (definately not my ex), then my alarm woke me.

This was the most vivid and detailed dream I have recalled for ages. Hopefully starting up this diary and thinking more about dreaming is re-awakening my dream recall and maybe I will have that elusive second lucid soon.......

I have been too lazy to update this so it's no wonder that my dream recall is so bad, these are the only three dreams I have recorded in the last fortnight.

21/09/2006 - Beach pub

Very strange dream this one, my housemate had to move out. He was moving back to Rugby where we went to school to take a job, this left me in a very difficult situation as I can't afford the rent on my own. The flat was a complete tip and I was sat there pretty despondant when I saw some something scuttling in the rubbish piled up on the floor. It turned out a rather gaunt looking hamster, it had clearly not eaten in a while. I decided to leave the flat and I ended up in this pub by a beach. Two of my friends where there and more people kept turning up, I probably knew about half of them. I was in a mood to get drunk so I had two drinks on the go at the same time and I made an idiot of myself by asking one of my friends who has just split up with his girlfriend whether he had heard about him splitting up with his girlfriend!

27/09/2006 - Festival football

Bizarrely I was Shay Given playing for Spurs up front at a festival, I'm not sure why I was a goalkeeper playing for a different side to real life or why the game was at a festival. I scored a hat-trick and we won three nil. I throw a piece of fruit at a yob who was shouting at me. For some reason the ball was very small again, this is a common theme in my dreams it seems. I had to run from the yob in the end and I checked into a hotel with my friends after escaping from him.

27/09/2006 - Babies

This is one of my favourite dreams of all time. I was at work (although the shop looked very different) but I was also involved in a business deal with a really dodgy bloke. He was a complete stereotype of an Essex wide boy and I was very nervous about working with him. I can't remember exactly what the deal was but it was something to do with construction. I lived in my grandads house and people kept knocking on my door and asking for me to serve them as if I was at work!! I had a wife who seemed very nice and two small babies. I spent some time with my family and all my troubles seemed to melt away , this was the great thing about this dream, I was very busy and stressed until I came home and as soon as I saw my children I felt a massive sense of tranquility and happiness. One of the babies was really hairy for an instance but he was back to normal after a few minutes, we were watching TV and I saw two girls on the screen who seemed to be my daughters. Later on my parents turned up and disapproved of the names of my children. I became angry at this and told them that I didn't like my name. I was really happy in this dream and it was one of those dreams when it is a real disapointment to wake up.

Dreamt 4th October:


More football:

Don't remember much of this really but me and a few friends were in a football team that had somehow been promoted to the football league. We were playing Chesterfield but instead of there being a stadium it was just in a field. I remember thinking that I had to do really well so my dad would be proud of me when he heard the match report on radio five.

Boogie fights:

This was quite disturbing really. I was sitting on my room on my computer and my housemate and a friend of his started messing with stuff in my room. I finally lost my rag when they started fiddling with my computer and I got extremely violent. I beat my housemates face to a bloody pulp and gave his friend a black eye and a broken nose. Later on his friend came into apologise and for some reason he started taking his clothes off. I won't go into any detail about what i saw but it was exactly like the final scene of boogie nights


Dreamt 7th and 8th

The past couple of nights I have had really epic, vivid dreams. Sadly I have been unable to record them but both dreams had such incredible scope and involved many dream charactors.

I think I just dreamt about having a lucid dream, I was having an evening nap and I dreamt that I was in a strange house. The details are vague but I was running away from someone and I found a room which looked like a pub with a bed in. I fell asleep in the bed and became aware that I was dreaming. I looked at my hands and I had stubby little fingers. This is the strange bit, I'm really not sure if I was lucid or not, it may have been a hyper low level lucid dream but I think its more likely that I was dreaming about being lucid. I decided to drive a ferrari around silverstone but then couldn't think of anything else to do so I didn't fight it when I found myself waking up. I 'awoke' in the strange room very excited about the dream and even started to write the dream down on an A4 pad I had next to the bed.

My dream recall is back! I hope it's not temporary..

Bad Holiday

I was on hoilday but I was not having a good time. This dream was pretty vague but I went somewhere on holiday and I was really bored and upset about something. I remember borrowing a DVD from my friend Ian and for some reason a very long walk was important.

The great escape!

This was dream was very vivid and exciting. Me and two other people were trying to escape from a castle. The setting was beautiful, it was a huge grey castle with a moat, surrounded by hills. I remember being struck by the beauty of the surroundings, the weather was sunny as well which made everything so much more attractive. I started my escape by running out of some kind of classroom mid lesson. I was escaping with two other people, we had no weapons so we just had to run as fast as possible and avoid the guards, the guards were Nazi's but we were trying to escape to East Germany which made no sense as Germany was not split until after the war. Anyway we ran up to the hills surrounding the castle which is where I saw the view described earlier. We realised that the only way to escape was through a building opposite the castle. At this point one of my companions got shot, me and the other other escapee found our way into the building where we attempted to avoid Nazi's through a bar, a reception area and a car park (YAY! my dream sign is back) I reached the exit but there were lots of Nazi guards there. My fellow escapee was wounded and sitting in the bar (which was full of people in modern clothes), he decided to distract the guards so I could escape. I woke up soon after this and the plan wasn't working. The commander was too clever to send all his men to the bar. I don't know if I escaped or not.

I can't believe it's been so long since I have had a dream to post. I have just woken up from a night full of amazing dreams though, lets see what I remember:

19.11.2006 - University, missing computers, tennis and sexual exploits.

I lived in a building that looked like a uni hall of residence, the dream started off with a very vivid sex scene. She was a very nice looking girl and she seemed to be enjoying herself however she left before I was finished. I remember my room very vividly. It was very similar to my actual real life room but a bit smaller. I descended to the bottom floor of the building (I think I must have lived on about the fifth floor) where there was a huge room. It looked like Stratford train station except there were no tracks, but the walkways and every thing were there. There were two cars being worked on and one of them was mine. Something started a riot, I'm not entirely sure what but everyone started looting. I made my way carefully to my room and someone had stolen my computer and my TV. My TV is old so I wasn't too bothered about that but I got exceedingly angry about my missing computer. I don't think I have ever been so angry in a dream. I barged into peoples rooms and demanded to know where it was, I made my way down the five flights of stairs in this enraged manner accusing every one I saw of being the thief. I eventually got a tip off that it was in a bar down the road so I set off that way but I woke up before I got there.

I went back to sleep and in my next dream I was in a strange house. two girls were wading through a stream, the details were hazy but one of the girls was wearing her best dress and this was a big deal. Although the dress didn't even get wet. Back at the house I was there with my grandad, my friend Luke and lots of random people. There were two tennis courts and I really wanted to play. Luke wasn't ready yet so I practiced my serve, somebod put washing out on the court so O had to stop. I never got to play tennis in the end.

Somehow I ended up back at the uni, I found my room and went to check on my computer. All through this final part of the dream I had the impression that I was on some kind of reality TV show, I was very worried what people would think of my violent rage earlier on. I got to my room and it was dark, I was very nervous, was my computer there? The light switch didn't work and I woke up before I could see whether it was there or not.

17/11/2006:

I was with two married friends and they wanted to be alone together. I went into a different room and was very upset (I used to have a real life thing for her). Later on a was going on a massive journey, I was getting on the ferry and was very nervous, I was talking to my best friend on the phone who was going on a similar journey. It was all very strange and vague.

I had lots of dreams about this girl that I used to be in love with and during these dreams my feelings were scarily real, I recall during one of these that I realised that I was dreaming but instead of going lucid I woke up.
