      UFO dreams

My most common dreams are ones of UFO's for some reason I don't really understand. Their is sort of a formula to how it goes, usually, although the situations differ they all have a few things in common.

      1. I see the UFO in the distance
      2. I react to the UFO, thinking that its the coolest thing ever
      3. I try to run away and as soon as I take a step the UFO is on top of me, and I am abducted. I never know what it is like inside the UFO, sometimes the dream just ends and other times I wake up (in the dream) in a different location, and a new 'plot' starts up.

Sometimes I spend the bulk of the dream trying to get away from the UFO (hiding in the house and eventually forgetting about it, stepping outside a while later and then getting abducted) and other times its on top of me as soon as I acknowlege it.

My latest dream didn't adhere to the formula, but it was intersting none-the-less.

I had a dream I was at a summer camp I work at, down at the beach at night. I remeber thinking about how since the new world order started UFO's started to come out more, and they weren't afraid of us anymore. (I have no idea who or what the new world order would consist of, or any details, I just remember being scared throughout the dream that the leader would find me doing something wrong and kill me, and when I finally went back to my tent and fell asleep, I was happy because I didn't die) So someone shined a flashlight into the sky beacause we all saw an odd shaped light in the background. UFO's came-and this is the order it always happens in my dreams- one comes first, then darts away. I feel a little less freaked out because I think thats it, but then more come. In this dream, after the first one came, the rest acted like they were pulling some sort of show- they would dive down and pull up, dissapear and then dart back, untill they started hovering over the water, and everyone freaked out. I hid behind a lawn chair, and they started sucking the water from the lake and we all got sucked up too...then appearantly they dumped all the water in an empty bathroom stall, some like demension or something, because I was lying on the ground, cold and wet. I walked back to my tent, found my kids who I was in the tent with and they were all saying "I hate it when they do that. Its so annoying," and I was like "Shut up, he might hear you! Its time to go to bed." and then we all went to bed and I went to a different dream.

      Hi Summerdreary,

I went through a period of UFO dreams years ago, which seemed to be related to the fact that I was reading a lot about them at the time, especially Whitley Strieber's books. My dreams weren't so scary though, and I think it's probably because even then I pretty much recognized that Strieber was having some kind of waking dreams rather than literal experiences, because his descriptions were so symbolically interesting.

I don't happen to think the earth is going to be taken over by an alien invasion from another planet. I do think the alien invasion story is probably a fear of war, of aliens from another country taking us over. Or of an alien lifestyle taking over as the world changes. When you get to be my age, it starts feeling like things are changing too darned fast sometimes, so it's threatening, really, and much of it does feel alien. For example, I have a landline only, not all these new contraptions and cell phones, and all that. It's too expensive for one thing, and I really don't like talking on the phone that much! So, I guess I'm old-fashioned. But I'm on the internet.

But I'd look at where you're spending your time and energy. There are lots of groups out there on the internet obsessed with aliens who are either going to take over the world or save the world. If you spend a lot of time reading that kind of thing, and listening to the paranoia that comes with it, it will infect your dreams.

The water being sucked from the lake is interesting. Water relates usually to emotion, to the Collective Unconscious, or to unconsciousness. It may be saying you are somehow taking in ideas from unconsious people, or you are emotionally distressed by this situation, or you are afraid to really delve into the Collective Unconscious, because you don't know what you're going to find there. Any of that feel familiar?

Also, when you suck someone in, you're basically getting them to buy your ideas or your product, even if your ideas aren't worth anything. Is someone sucking you in, maybe to beliefs in aliens? Then you're all wet and cold... unconscious and frightened. I encountered a lot of attempts at selling these kinds of ideas on another forum recently. Rantings about aliens and Planet X, which is seemingly non-existent except in the minds of people who like to hype this stuff, but don't bother to look for the scientific facts of the matter.

Your kids attitude in the dream is rather cool, really. It's not bothering them much at all. Just go to sleep and go to another dream...

      Moving on!

Thank you very much for your reply. I am facinated with UFO's and for as long as I can remember I have been afraid of aliens and things. It is a fear that has been with me all my life- but the fear has evolved into a curisosity that is mixed with fear- its like looking for something, and wanting something, but knowing you are going to be terrified when you find it... Its weird to be so facinated by something, yet so afraid of it at the same time.
And I have been researching UFO's, but the dreams were there way before that time period. I have heard some weird therories, but I don't buy into them because I just picture them as far too outlandish for my tastes. I am on the forum AboveTopSecret alot, but it is a forum that encourages scientific study and research, and mostly condems blind faith and charlatans, so I don't think that is the cause.

And the weird thing is, I rarely have a dream when I'm actaully 'scared' like a nightmare. In the dream discribed I was a little bit scared, but it wasn't like I shook when I got up and thought about it the next day. My 'bad' dreams usually involve me waking up crying or dreaming that I'm crying. I'm not usually terrified in dreams, it seems like my nightmares manifest themselves in sorrow sometimes.

      Hi Summerdreary,

Well, I did a search and found "AboveTopSecret" and it looks to me like the usual joyful Conspiracy Theory hype and paranoia. I would not choose to fill my head with that. Do you know that when I did the search a whole string of yahoogroups email lists came up that formed to discuss that forum? That is really strange! Everyone I see who gets involved with the conspiracy theory stuff is plagued with nightmares, or seems to be. I think they make people paranoid. I've heard a lot of it. Or maybe it's people who are already paranoid who go there? Maybe it's both.

You would probably do yourself a favor if you changed your focus to something more positive. But, you know, it's up to you!

      Take care!

I get what you are saying, but I have been having these dreams since I was a child, before I ever knew what the internet was.
And its not like I have nightmares about what I read on the website. I actaully find some of the information informative and enjoy intelligent disscussion.
Well, I dunno, maybe the website does intensifty the dreams, but I don't think that's the case.

I suspect we don't have the same standards for intelligent discussion, as I find most of the people who get into conpiracy theories are too busy spreading paranoia to be taken very seriously. I enjoy intelligent discussion too, but if it's really intelligent, it shouldn't make people paranoid, imo. Or feel like something fake being hyped. I also know to turn off the news for awhile if I start getting nightmares, and not propagate every bad story I hear, as it doesn't really do anyone any good. I know that because of my own dreams, which corrected former behaviors in that regard.

In any case, you have to do what you feel is right for you. I just came here from a board where the Conspiracy nuts were truly nutty and disruptive, and it did not make for any kind of intelligent discussion, believe me. Between them and the End Times "prophets", who had way too much information to be real precognitive dreams, it was an ugly atmosphere. I try to avoid them. But you do your thing. I'm here to try to help interpret dreams, not to control other people's lives. Sometimes, dreams require a change in a person is all, and it's nice to know if they are suggesting that. Right?

      All best...
