Thread: Death in Dreams

I had a similar thing happen to me before.

Yep, nothing special. Weird dreams are weird dreams sometimes.

i didnt think you were able to die in dreams

yeah. one time i had a dream that i was kissing a girl and durig are kiss she stabbed me. Everytime i think about that dream i think about the last girl i was with. Kinda broke my heart... anyway the dream was before the girl. crazy.... Oh did i mention i died?

When I was a child I had a dream I was captured by bandits, tied to a chair, and had my throat cut. I felt my life flow out of me with my blood. Next thing I knew I was the wind blowing through the trees. Birds were riding me.

Then I was a toddler like 2 yrs. old. I wandered into a kitchen and there was a strange woman cooking. I cried "Mommy!"

I remember thinking "Oh no! Not again! I was already 8 years old and now I got to do it all over again!"

As for ontopic, yes i have died in a dream i think 2 times. Once was when i took a cyanide capsule and then started crying and everything went black. Another was when some guys ran into an office i was in, shot me in the shoulder twice, i then collapsed to the floor and felt my heart beat slower and slower as i bled out until i finally woke up right when my heart stopped.

I'm taking this from "The Complete Dream Dictionary" by Trish and Rob MacGregor, Pg 141-142 ...

"Death is the ultimate metamorphosis, the passage from one state of being to another. In the tarot, the Death card means transformation, a major change that hurls you from one way of life to another. In a dream, death is usually the symbol for the same thing.

Only rarely do death dreams portend actual physical death. Many times, dreams about death are simply metaphors for major changes happening in life. These sorts of dreams might be symbolic of your relationships, work, or aspects of personality. When you have such a dream, you need to consider whether an area of your life is undergoing transformation ...... In this sense, death dreams are not so much about death - they're more about the rebirth that comes from moving from one, old stage of life, to another stage, as you progress to a near level...... Dreams of dying represent the ending of an emotional state or situation at hand. To dream that you are going to die suggests an inattention to a particular aspect of your life...."

I'm not sure if this helps or even applies to the dream you have. I think that dream interpretations written by other people who have never met you can be completely untrue a lot of the time. I think that you're the only person who can truly interpret your own dreams because you are the only person who knows exactly what's going on in your own life.
