Hey Woody,
What an intriguing dream with a nice twist at the end!
What we have got here is a hoverboard-raft hybrid, flowing along a riverbed, on some murky, but warm waters. It gets awesome in the beginning because the river is just going at this pace you appreciate and it just seems someone is helping you along the way.
Say you would not happen be making a decision that your a little doubtful on would ya?
From what I can understand, the raft is your approach to things and is your intuition. The beginning of the trek is easy going and your able to make things go the pace you want them to be at. I would say that your keeping yourself a float, your own inner feelings, but it could also mean that your being guided by someone above, maybe a relative who passed or someone above whose taken interest in keeping you alive and well.
The part about hearing your friends behind you, but you could not see them: This could be a meaning that your friends' opinions (and your own) are filling your thoughts, even when you can not see them by your side, but their words are there.
This may be an indication that you have a good link with your buddies/family, and that you'll continue to see them as those that keep track of your progress and help propel you in the right direction... or a distraction that can cause you to slip up. (Saw all the puns I placed in there in relation to the dream? No? Yeah, me either.)
Then, the river changes its pace, propels you toward a nice batch of Crocs while your friends behind you only warn you of whats ahead, you lose your raft-hoverboard, and right when you give up going against the current, the Crocs just snap their jaws in intimidation and you go on living for another day.
Have you been presented in a situation that you felt as it could be the end for you? Your friends (Which, again, can represent yourself) told you what is ahead, so it could be you already know the danger that is ahead of you. You may also think that your raft (Guidance and Gut feelings) has sunk, that protective feeling from the elements is gone. You try to fight against what may happen...
But the current keeps pushing you along, and the Crocs, only are there to intimidate you. To teach you a lesson.
This interpretation might sound a bit 'jumpy' but overall:
I feel that you have to flow with the river and accept the consequences that shall arise, but they will not be as life-ending as they may seem. You've got support all around and even if you believe you've lost, your still going the right way.
Hope that helps.
