Thread: What does it mean when...

you are unable to yell during a dream? Ive had a lot of dreams where something shocking happens. I really don't remember the details but I do remember my inability to yell, as hard as I tried. i would try 3 or 4 times and at the last try I usually suceed in yelling. Not meekly, but it isn't powerful. I have to yell again.

I tried searching aroudn for an interpretation, The dictionary meaning for yelling doesn't include "not being able to yell".

I'm curious abuot this because dreams tend to reflect yourself. Or atleast in my experience it does, I can't say for everyone else. But when something shocking happens ive always been the type of character that reacts. I rarely hesitate and I don't have a problem yelling when I need it.

First thing that comes to mind is an inability to describe og understand your own emotions.

Strong emotions that you don't know how to express or describe? But you feel a great need to do just that.

To find out what emotions these dreams are talking about, you need to look at the rest of the dream scenario.

Seeing as you look upon yourself as someone who wouldn't be paralyzed when things happen to you, it may even speak of a trauma in your past that you have kept silent about, or have felt incapable of reacting to.

Interesting reply. I tend to agree with what river has said. How about fear of expression on something specific. Something that has been bothering you very much. You said you have no problem speaking up in shocking situations though. Maybe this something is too embarrasing for you to speak up about. Only a guess. Lack of being able to express alarm. Maybe like I say just in certain areas. Or one area.

I don't know...I'm very outgoing and i've never had much of a problem speaking. ive never had anything traumatic happen to me as I was younger either. I mean - I guess there is one thing that happened to me in the year that was very painful for me, (personal relationship) but trying to find a connection, I don't know...I don't remember the dream except for the inability to yell.

Though I think I could imagine one thing...I have a very stressful relationship with my mom. and theres nothing I can do about it since I do still need a roof over my head and i enjoy eating every day, lol.
