      Dreaming of the dead

So I am very new to this and i am trying to get someone to help give me some answers about a dream i had the other night. I have read that if you dream of the dead and they talk to you all it means is that someone around you shouldnt be trusted... or something like that. but i think this dream meant more.

My real father died of a heart attack when i was young and he wasnt around, so i dont remember him at all, and i dont know very much about him. all i have is 2 pictures and a birthday card from him. The other night i had a dream about him and it was so real i could see his face and he picked me up at my house and i remember feeling nervous and wanting my booyfriend to come with me to meet him. we got into a very distinct car that was alot like one my uncle who passed away had. My father talked to me and asked me if i liked to birthday card he got me and then in my dream i saw the picture that i have of him, me and my mother. we drove around and met some woman who he was breaking up with, and she was very strange. But most of the dream happened in this car. The dream wasnt really in color but it also wasnt just black and white. I am 19 years old and i have never ever dreamnt of him before. So i was wondering what this all meant.

The fact that it was in black and white leads me to believe that it didn't mean anything. Those are early dreams that are usually just random snipbits of memory that your dream mind ties together.

I don't think it means that you have someone in your life that shouldn't be trusted. I'm a big believer that most of what a person dreams comes from what Freud called day residue. Perhaps you watched something on television that made you think of your father, and that produced your dream.

Stay in this forum and learn to lucid dream and you could ask him. Dream characters always (as far as I've seen) tell the truth if you ask them to interpret something for you.

well think of other people who could represent him. Another male figure.. poerhaps your boyfriends father.. somneone whom you would treat in the same way.. worrying a little about how to act and needing your boyfriends support. See how the dream fits with the day before. an extremely important time period in terms of your mind.. your firt chance to think over thats days events amnd feelings. who have you been nervous to meet or too talk to..

One way of telling how vital dreams are is to study people who are deprived of sleep and dreams.Sleep deprivation is very dangerous if it continues for extended periods. If you are deprived of sleep for several days then you will slip into madness. The reason for this is that sleep and dreams are linked to vital brain functions.
During the day we store up new thoughts and experiences within short term memory blocks. So if we are deprived sleep these become overloaded. The mind has no more space to store new feelings so these are merely forgotten.
During sleep vital brain waves emerge. Beta waves and theta waves are only ever detected within the brain at night. These help us process through those new feelings and experiences stored in short term memory. We integrate these new feelings into long term memory blocks. So if you do not sleep then you will not be updating your thoughts. You will not be building a bigger picture.
