      Question Very Weird!!!

hi everyone, i am posting this on behalf of my wife... something very strange has been happening and quiet frankly i am very concerned about her

she has been having a few of ,what i would call, frightening dreams...

in one of them she is being chased by some kind of dark creature which she cannot see so hence i am unable to describe.

in another she says that she can see her father slashing away at her mother with a large knife, and he looks somewhat possesed!

she also tells me that both these dreams are filled with blood

but what realy frightens me is that she says when she awakes from the dream she sometimes see's a shadow or something close to it and feels a presence around her, quite frankly i never believed in all this, but she is my wife and i think she deserves my help and answers.

      please help if you can!

      THANKS IN ADVANCE

Well it's obvious that she's battling some problems that she really needs to figure out, otherwise these dreams won't go away. If she could attain lucidity in these dreams, she may be able to ask the characters what's going on.

It's pretty obvious what's happening with the dark creature. She's running away from something. Now, can she describe this dark creature? Try to do it in the simplest terms possible, and she'll figure out what she's afraid of; what she's running away from or maladjusting to. There's some emotional trouble there.

And your wife's probably having some troubles with her father. She may think that her father is trying to seperate from her mother. The dream may also mean she sees her father changing from his old ways; no longer like the old life where she lived with her parents.

Blood in both these scenes signify the ending and finality of something. That's from a dream dictionary

I'm not so sure about the presence, though.

      Hi,

I'm not skilled in dream interpretation, but I agree with the above poster. She could try to look at the dream metaphorically, what do the things in her dream mean to her. Personally though, I think that the dreams represent waking problems, if directly or not I don't know. Perhaps it's just stress?

Good luck, I hope she gets rid of her nightmares !

Could be Sleep paralysis/hypnagogia. At least that's what's usually described. Presences, usually bad experiences. If he's looking for a non-religious explanation, I'd say that's the answer, just an unpleasant hallucination.

Yes Nightmares were a problem once in my life as well, But I don't beleive these dreams have much meaning, inless she fears her father.

Nightmares are similer to a mental block, their usualy caused by fear of them, when you fear things a certain part of you always expects them, I beleive if your wife truly gave up the fear, by becoming aware in the dream that she was in fact dreaming, and then change her mood, it's very important the dream reflects the inner mood of the dreamer, once your wife becomes aware that she is having the nightmare she can take control by changing her mood.

Tell her to remember the next time these dreams happen to become aware and change her fear to friendliness, I'm curtain the dream would become less scary, and the creatures/murderers will either become friendlier or just go away/become less scary.

She could also try reasoning with the monsters and ask them why they are haunting her dreams.

And when she wakes up that is an effect of sleep paralysis, I get it often, when I wake up or am trying to WILD I might see stuff, or feel as if I opened my eyes for a secound and saw something that wasn't there.
