Recurring theme in different dreams

I am having a series of strange dreams. They are not normal recurring dreams but have a recurring theme. I can be dreaming about anything when this man will appear in the dream. He is always pretty close to me and seems to be greyed out and blurry (though I can actually see what he looks like) The thing is, in every dream he appears in he looks different yet I know it is the same man. Now this is where it gets weird. This man actually interrupts my dream!! If there are other people or animals in the dream I am having they totally ignore this man. He never speaks to me but seems to be drawing me to him (this is an immense feeling) I feel as though I have known him a really long time but who he is escapes me. It is right there on the tip of my tongue but wont come out. At first when it began happening I felt extremely curious as to who he was (both in my dream and when I was awake) but now its been happening a while its getting really annoying because I really feel I know him. When he appears its as if whatever I have been dreaming about has been put on hold, my dream carries on but I am watching it rather than being a part of it (if that makes sense) it just sort of fades into poor colour and distant sound. While the man is around I have a massive feeling of awe? wonder? Im not sure how to describe it, almost like something huge is going to happen. I also 'know' in my dream that he has something to tell me, I can even feel this but whatever it is Im just not getting it I feel that if I do realise what it is he has to tell me then my dream invasions may stop. I am really hoping someone can make sense of this, thank you oh and please no freddy kruger jokes, I think I have heard them all

This man is almost certainly your messenger. He is the main link between you and this world. Ill quote paulo coelho from his book the pilgrimage here, 'so the only way to deal with our messenger is to accept him as a friend- by listening to his advice and asking for his help when necessary, but never allowing him to dictate the rules of the game.' and 'when we become fascinated by his power, he owns us from fighting the good fight.' the next time that you see him ask him his name, dont listen to anything he tells you until you know his name. Never tell anyone the name of your messenger as the person who knows this can invoke your messenger and destroy you.
