New poster. Only dream that ever woke me up

I had only recently fallen asleep. When the dream started it very bright like when the sun is in your eyes. Then, from in front of me a large red truck appears facing in my direction. I see only very the front of the truck it is a bright red and in front of me but to the side a bit. The brighness gets dimmer (does the truck block it?) now the dream is light grey.

As quickly as the truck appeared a dog's body flies upward. It came from below my perspective in front of me (sort of in between me and the truck) and moved upwards towards me. The dream went into slow motion. The dog was a german shepard and I could see it with crystal clarity in the dream: I could see mud on its fur and blood coming out of its mouth. The dog was limp and lifeless in the air.

For a very brief moment I had the sensation I may have been in a car. The dog may have hit the windshield before I suddely jolted awake. I woke up suddenly and with such a fright, that I am not sure if I was in a car at the end of the dream or not. When I woke up I felt very frightened. I have never been jolted awake by a dream before and have no history of nighmares so this dream was very unusual and disturbing to me.

I'd really appreciate any ideas on what this dream could mean.

      Hello there, antithesis.

A few questions: Do you feel as if the dog was hit by the car you were in, or by the red truck? This could be significant. If you feel it was you that hit the dog, this dream could be some sort of manifestation of guilt??? The slow-motion seems to indicate that the hitting of the dog is of most importance...

Was the red truck just a truck, or a firetruck... can you remember anything else?

The first part up the dream happened quickly, so it wasn't perfectly clear what happened in the dream while it was taking place. After I had woken up I had the impression the car I was in swerved and hit the dog.

I could be feeling guilty about my job search. I was given a raise at work recently. They don't know that I am looking for a new job. I didn't menchion this in my post but the dream happened earlier this week.

My boyfriends childhood dog was a german shepard. Could there be significance to that?

It might have been a semi but I don't think it was a firetruck.
