      Someone stole my dinner

I posted the whole dream in my journal, but here is the snippet that is bothering me.

They all ordered, and as the food started to arrive, I realised that my plate that I had brought with me was not there. I looked around for it and then I noticed that Clair was eating a sausage. She hadn't ordered any food. I stood up and looked at her plate. Sure enough, it was my dinner.

I was really upset. She had publicly and blatantly stolen my food, and none of the others would believe me. Not only that but when she was eating the sausages she was making comments about how bad they tasted.

I ended up getting on the table, walking over and taking the plate from her myself. Everybody's faces showed that they clearly thought that I was the one in the wrong. [/b]
It was a very intense feeling, and normally that's enought for me to intereperet my own dreams. Forexample, I had to give a presentation yesterday, and the dream I had beforehand was fast moving, broken and generally anxious feeling.

I also understand the rest of the dream, like cooking sausages is something I was getting very impatient over when I was doing it yesterday, and I recently made a painting of my freind Maxwell, so the picture was kind of stuck in my head. And so on and so forth.

But the feeling of somebody stealing my dinner... it's completely irrelevant to the way I've been feeling!
It was something I felt waay back in junior school, when people would temporarily take things from you to tease you and them act like you were making much ado about nothing.

      Thoughts?

      Dear Kafine,

This is a new twist on a very common theme -- losing things and allowing one's self to be unnerved by it. Typically one wastes a lot of time in looking for things that are actually quite irrelevent.

Now, look at this dream of yours. You brought food to a restaurant. Decidedly bad food.

Now, yes, you have every excuse in the World to be upset, but that is rather the point of it all, for you to get over these provocations.

You could have ordered much better food right off of the Menu, couldn't you. You might assume you didn't have sufficient funds, but then, you always have to check your dream wallet. Often in dreams we have more money than we do ordinarily. One should be able to treat one's self in a Dream, no?

Anyway, if dreams like this are in any way recurrent, then you need to go over in your mind a new approach and a new attitude.

I suppose such dreams are the inevitable preparation for when we die and have to deliberately turn away from the things of the World and move onto the Higher Spiritual Realms. You don't want to be held back because of a few links of sausage... bad sausage at that.

      Maybe she's stealing your boyfriend?

If I had one, I might worry about that

I'm not sure whether the food was actually bad, or whether she was taunting me when she said it tasted bad. I may have undercooked the sausages, but I'll never know because she ate them anyway

I had been looking forward to eating it, which is why I brought it with me, instead of letting it go to waste. Also, I didn't have any money with me.

I'm a university student, the scenario isn' t that unlikely. Heh heh.

I should go to your journal and read the whole dream but, I thought I would comment on this bit that is bothering you.

A themeatic approach to a dream is often helpful. Finding the underlying theme can help one to decipher the rest of it.

Sounds like something you are putting time and effort into is being taken and rejected. Something that is personal to you, something you consider yours. And then this something of yours is being debunked in puplic and then you feel you have no power to deny the blame.

Either this has already happened or you fear it will.

Hmm... do you think it could be something to do with my lack of confidence in my artwork at the moment? I am starting to feel like it is not worth me drawing things because I know the result will not satisfy me...

That has shown up in a couple of dreams recently, it just never occured to me that the quite specific "stolen dinner" feeling might be linked.

That would make it an anxiety type dream.
