Dream about a Tiger
Hey, I'm kat I'm 23 years old. It's the first time a Tiger appeared in my dreams.
Basically the whole dream consisted of me along with other people trying to escape the Tiger, which was just wondering free
no zoo or anything like that, from time to time he would try to attack people and myself and there were also
a few other animals in the dream it's unclear to me what sort of animals exactly but the Tiger attacked them and ate them.
Towards end of the dream myself and other people were trying to get away from the tiger, there was this big gate which I locked behind me so the Tiger won't follow than I saw my sister on the other side of the gate, I told her everything will be fine.
Now the weird part: after seeing the Tiger coming towards me again I climbed a very tall tree all while people (other than my sister all the people in my dream are people I do not know) shouting up at me that the tiger will never climb the tree, there was a small animal "family" on the top of the tree, the Tiger kept jumping up to get me even though there were many people down on the ground, he was about to grab me with his paw than I took the animal that was on the tree and threw it down the Tiger wanted to catch it, as it fell down it died from the fall, I climbed down everyone were relived the Tiger died and I woke up.
I wrote it down right after so I think it's as detailed as possible, if it's of any use I'm a vegetarian and love animals so me being attacked by one and attacking one myself seemed odd to me....
I know that my sister was there but most of the dream it felt I was trying to protect myself since the Tiger always kept coming after me.
Any thoughts?

Basically the whole dream consisted of me along with other people trying to escape the Tiger{Largest cat species. Apex predator}, which was just wondering free {No constraints, limitations or boundaries on it}
no zoo {Solitary animal (one issue) focus of dream} or anything like that, from time to time he would try to attack people {Aggressive} and myself {Possibly some self destructive passion or behaviour} and there were also
a few other animals in the dream {Possibly other passions, which are not self destruction} it's unclear to me what sort of animals exactly but the Tiger attacked them and ate them {A dominate passion/motivation}.
Towards end of the dream myself and other people were trying to get away from the tiger {Escape rather than confrontation}, there was this big gate {First sign of a boundary or limitation} which I locked {Secure} behind me {Protecting where you cannot see} so the Tiger won't follow than I saw my sister {Younger or older? Your sister has many of the same inherited attributes as you.} Whilst it seemed "you" were now safe, something symbolising these inherited2 characteristics was not} on the other side of the gate, I told her everything will be fine. {Trying to reassure yourself this is the right approach.}
Now the weird part: after seeing the Tiger coming towards me again {It clearly has not been dealt with.} I climbed a very tall tree {perhaps symbolising self development & emmulation of somone you respect} all while people (other than my sister all the people in my dream are people I do not know) shouting up at me that the tiger will never climb the tree {Reassurance again}, there was a small animal "family" {I think "family" is an important theme of the dream} on the top of the tree {Higher, Healthier characteristics/ motivations}, the Tiger kept jumping up to get me even though there were many people down on the ground {Notice the change from earlier in the dream where it ate other animals & people ran from it. It's domain of fear has been reduced perhaps by your development. But it is still a threat to you.} , he was about to grab me with his paw {Closest contact in the dream} than I took the animal that was on the tree and threw it down the Tiger wanted to catch it, as it fell down it died from the fall, I climbed down everyone were relived the Tiger died {I think this symbolises a positive closure} and I woke up.
I know that my sister was there but most of the dream it felt I was trying to protect myself {Perhaps some kind of defence mechanism.} since the Tiger always kept coming after me.
I am wondering if the tiger symbolises some kind of unhealthy or unsocial behaviour (eg aggressive anger, domineering behaviour, substance abuse) which you have seen in your ancestors, perhaps your father or mother, which you have been concerned might develop in your own life, or which you have been actively trying to prevent in your own life. If this registers with you, some of the symbolism in the dream might suggest you were/are trying to prevent this by disassociating with those/that family member either socially and/or in your heart. If I am reading the symbolisim right, this does not seem to be a proper solution. The solution seemed to be 2-pronged- 1. Developing your own healhty gifts, abilities & passions, perhaps emmulating these positive things you see in someone you admire. 2. By re-discovering your family in a new way perhaps again looking to healthy family models, respecting & honouring your parents in particular in a new & deeper way, even if you feel you can't respect them because of the unhealthy issues.
If I am on the right track, I am not sure where you would be now in the dream time-line. If some of this resonates with you, I would appeciate hearing where you think you are up to.
Hope this helps.

I think snoopy's interpretation is great. However, there is a part of the dream that bothers me: you threw the small animal down. Yes, the tiger dies, but at what price? Do you compromise your family values, become an aggressor yourself, blur the difference between right and wrong? Yes, the issue is resolved at the end, but is this the solution you want?
Although alternatively this could be about self sacrifice: that you need to sacrifice a small part of yourself, or the part of you that is small (fear? Insecurity? Judging others? Or some other perceived flaw that you may see in your own personality) and become strong in order to overcome the issue. So the animal sacrifice is not necessarily bad. The dream is saying that the resolution is up to you: your action, not an external rescue.
