I had this dream two days ago, and I would love to hear what everyone has to say about it.
The Characters:
Me - this dream was in the first person, and through my eyes. I'm 23, female, highly introverted, have been single pretty much my whole life, with a couple brief periods in between, but nothing of substance to speak of. I have been hurt a few times, though, and am very cautious. Very shy, but loyal to those who have earned it.
Eric - Mid 20's, also single, and has also been hurt a few times and is cautious as well. Introverted, brilliant (and, no, I'm not just saying that because I've a thing for him, he really is quite sharp), and very laid back about most things, but when he does worry, it becomes all-encompassing. Very protective of his dog (who we'll call Luna), who's pretty much his baby. (his name has been changed for his privacy) He acts like a troll, but is actually quite nice and sweet to those he cares about, even if those are few and far between. Can be very oblivious to seemingly obvious things when it comes to emotions.
Luna - Eric's dog. She's a toy breed, full grown rescue, about 10 lb, and a fearless little thing.
Eric's mom, brother and uncle - his family who cause him much headache on a regular basis. They haven't been that good to him over the years, and have sabotaged his best efforts to do many things.
Pertinent details:
Eric is very good online friend of mine, whom I speak to almost, if not every day, and have for almost two years now. We're quite close, and can both be very difficult to read. He lives on the other side of the world from me (unfortunately), and I have a ridiculous, hopeless little e-crush on him which cannot possibly work out but stubbornly exists, if for no other reason, than to cause me greif. I'm pretty sure he's aware of this, but we've not discussed it mainly because out of my shyness and fear, I chicken out every time I know I should bring it up.
We both have a ton of stress, and he's helped me get mine more under control before.
We want to visit one another fairly soon, and are both saving up the money to do so.
The Dream:
I had just arrived for a week visit at Eric’s (he and I have still in the dream never discussed that I like him). It was early evening, getting dark and we were laying together in a lawn chair talking and I look over and there’s this huge larger than life, hulking snake curved in an arc and sitting up perfectly still and relaxing with its head a good 5 feet off the ground, looking away from us and Luna is sitting next to it not moving (obviously alive, though), crouched down as if frightened to move and watching it. He’s lying there with his eyes closed, relaxing, and I gasp and whisper frantically so as not to alert the snake that I’m aware of its presence and have it attack her to him “Get Luna!” and he opens his eyes, looks around, sees her next to the snake, jumps up, curses under his breath out of fear, inches over (the snake doesn’t move during this) and gets the dog, cradles her and kisses her on the forehead as he makes his way back and grabs my hand, pulls me and tells me to run inside as he runs past the garage and to the front door of his house.
The driveway and front yard have a detached garage, which we have to pass to get to the house. He lets go of me to open the door, which only lets him through with Luna and we get separated while I run after him towards the door, which is closing in front of me (it’s unclear why it’s closing) and I feel something very slowly clamp down on my arm. I look to see what it is, and the snake, moving unnaturally slowly, is very slowly, almost as if in slow motion, biting the back of my upper left arm. Its head is larger than my own, and there’s a moment where I’m just standing there in terrified disbelief, looking into its eyes. I struggle, and manage to pull away (it does get a bit of my arm in the process, but I still escape) and run into his garage, closing the door behind me and locking it fast enough that the snake is unable to catch back up with me. There are huge locks on all of the outside doors of the house and garage, it’s implied in the dream that they’re in place because of huge predators like these. Then, I’m up on the roof of the garage, straddling the peak of the roof looking down at the ground as the snake circles it, trying to find a way up to me. I can hear its thoughts, and it’s slowly and clearly thinking things like “Oh, drain… *test drain to see if it will support its weight as it climbs up* *break drain* no… won’t work… … plant lattice… *test* … plastic… won’t hold…” as it slowly makes its way around over and over. I have to scoot back and forth on the roof and lean over the edge to keep an eye on it because I’m scared if I don’t keep it within my sight, it will find its way up and get me, and this snake thicker than a basket ball at its thickest. I’m not normally afraid of snakes, but I have every reason to be afraid of this one. Eventually, it stops trying, and curls up in the driveway to wait me out, just sitting there watching. I spend the entire night on that roof in a stand-off with the snake, who hasn't given up wanting to eat me, but has accepted that so long as I'm on the roof, I'm unreachable, and knows that I have to come down some time.
Now I’m back in the garage, which is used as a storage facility, and it’s morning. His family, mom, brother and uncle are leaving. They go out nonchalantly and she stops to tell me to be careful while going in to the house because “You never know when it’ll show up. It has a way of showing up out of nowhere” and then get in the car to leave. Now it’s time to attempt to get to the house. From the closed garage, I ask his mom to call him in the main house and help me get to the house, and she does. He helps her over the phone guide me into the main house, and when I get there, he hugs me very close and starts to get off the phone with his mom, and the last thing he says is “Ok, well, I’m going to go spend some time with my wife. See you lot when you get back.” Before he hangs up. Then he hugs me again very tight, and calms me down because I’m still terrified after my ordeal. He apparently slept very well (this does not strike me as strange in the slightest in the dream, though it was the first thing I noticed when I woke up.) and tells me things like that it’s all right now, and that I’m safe now, it’s gone, and holds on to me and talks me down until I’m not shaking and on the verge of tears any more and am feeling better.
He then leads me into his back yard (there is absolutely no thought or fear of the snake out there for reasons unknown), which is beautiful and lush, greenery and beautiful plants everywhere, with a large pool in the center. I see Luna, who’s now a medium to large dog, but this doesn’t seem strange, even though she now looks nothing like she actually does, but I know it’s Luna) and run over to hug her. I’m so happy to see she’s all right, since she came within about 8 inches of becoming a snack just a few hours ago. I go over to her water dish and notice it’s almost empty as she goes to get a drink, so I pick it up and head back to the house to get her some water, and Eric then says “Oh, it’s empty? Thanks.” and takes her bowl to fill it, and I go back to hugging and cuddling with Luna, so happy to see she’s ok. Then, randomly, I'm in an elevator going from the seventh floor to the first floor in an office building, and a man comes into the elevator two floors below me, and presses the basement button. Then a woman gets on the elevator and presses the third floor button. After this, I accidentally press the seventh floor button and feel incredibly stupid and embarrassed at messing up in front of people. The elevator gets to the first floor and I exit it, and walk down a short hall, turn into an office and then wake up.
It's very important that we note that nothing in the dream seemed strange or out of the ordinary, just frightening when the snake was involved. No actions or words seemed odd, my being able to hear the snake's thoughts seemed normal and I even knew what kind of snake it was, as if predators of this nature were a common occurrence where he lived and he'd told me of this before I came to visit, and I just smiled a little when he referred to me as his wife.
Sorry for the Wall-O’-Text >.< I was trying to be as thorough as possible.
Any ideas? Thanks in advance I'd love to hear anyone's input.
