Stalked by giant snake whose thoughts I could hear (very long)

I had this dream two days ago, and I would love to hear what everyone has to say about it.

      The Characters:
Me - this dream was in the first person, and through my eyes. I'm 23, female, highly introverted, have been single pretty much my whole life, with a couple brief periods in between, but nothing of substance to speak of. I have been hurt a few times, though, and am very cautious. Very shy, but loyal to those who have earned it.

Eric - Mid 20's, also single, and has also been hurt a few times and is cautious as well. Introverted, brilliant (and, no, I'm not just saying that because I've a thing for him, he really is quite sharp), and very laid back about most things, but when he does worry, it becomes all-encompassing. Very protective of his dog (who we'll call Luna), who's pretty much his baby. (his name has been changed for his privacy) He acts like a troll, but is actually quite nice and sweet to those he cares about, even if those are few and far between. Can be very oblivious to seemingly obvious things when it comes to emotions.

Luna - Eric's dog. She's a toy breed, full grown rescue, about 10 lb, and a fearless little thing.

Eric's mom, brother and uncle - his family who cause him much headache on a regular basis. They haven't been that good to him over the years, and have sabotaged his best efforts to do many things.

      Pertinent details:

Eric is very good online friend of mine, whom I speak to almost, if not every day, and have for almost two years now. We're quite close, and can both be very difficult to read. He lives on the other side of the world from me (unfortunately), and I have a ridiculous, hopeless little e-crush on him which cannot possibly work out but stubbornly exists, if for no other reason, than to cause me greif. I'm pretty sure he's aware of this, but we've not discussed it mainly because out of my shyness and fear, I chicken out every time I know I should bring it up.

We both have a ton of stress, and he's helped me get mine more under control before.

We want to visit one another fairly soon, and are both saving up the money to do so.

      The Dream:

I had just arrived for a week visit at Eric’s (he and I have still in the dream never discussed that I like him). It was early evening, getting dark and we were laying together in a lawn chair talking and I look over and there’s this huge larger than life, hulking snake curved in an arc and sitting up perfectly still and relaxing with its head a good 5 feet off the ground, looking away from us and Luna is sitting next to it not moving (obviously alive, though), crouched down as if frightened to move and watching it. He’s lying there with his eyes closed, relaxing, and I gasp and whisper frantically so as not to alert the snake that I’m aware of its presence and have it attack her to him “Get Luna!” and he opens his eyes, looks around, sees her next to the snake, jumps up, curses under his breath out of fear, inches over (the snake doesn’t move during this) and gets the dog, cradles her and kisses her on the forehead as he makes his way back and grabs my hand, pulls me and tells me to run inside as he runs past the garage and to the front door of his house.

The driveway and front yard have a detached garage, which we have to pass to get to the house. He lets go of me to open the door, which only lets him through with Luna and we get separated while I run after him towards the door, which is closing in front of me (it’s unclear why it’s closing) and I feel something very slowly clamp down on my arm. I look to see what it is, and the snake, moving unnaturally slowly, is very slowly, almost as if in slow motion, biting the back of my upper left arm. Its head is larger than my own, and there’s a moment where I’m just standing there in terrified disbelief, looking into its eyes. I struggle, and manage to pull away (it does get a bit of my arm in the process, but I still escape) and run into his garage, closing the door behind me and locking it fast enough that the snake is unable to catch back up with me. There are huge locks on all of the outside doors of the house and garage, it’s implied in the dream that they’re in place because of huge predators like these. Then, I’m up on the roof of the garage, straddling the peak of the roof looking down at the ground as the snake circles it, trying to find a way up to me. I can hear its thoughts, and it’s slowly and clearly thinking things like “Oh, drain… *test drain to see if it will support its weight as it climbs up* *break drain* no… won’t work… … plant lattice… *test* … plastic… won’t hold…” as it slowly makes its way around over and over. I have to scoot back and forth on the roof and lean over the edge to keep an eye on it because I’m scared if I don’t keep it within my sight, it will find its way up and get me, and this snake thicker than a basket ball at its thickest. I’m not normally afraid of snakes, but I have every reason to be afraid of this one. Eventually, it stops trying, and curls up in the driveway to wait me out, just sitting there watching. I spend the entire night on that roof in a stand-off with the snake, who hasn't given up wanting to eat me, but has accepted that so long as I'm on the roof, I'm unreachable, and knows that I have to come down some time.

Now I’m back in the garage, which is used as a storage facility, and it’s morning. His family, mom, brother and uncle are leaving. They go out nonchalantly and she stops to tell me to be careful while going in to the house because “You never know when it’ll show up. It has a way of showing up out of nowhere” and then get in the car to leave. Now it’s time to attempt to get to the house. From the closed garage, I ask his mom to call him in the main house and help me get to the house, and she does. He helps her over the phone guide me into the main house, and when I get there, he hugs me very close and starts to get off the phone with his mom, and the last thing he says is “Ok, well, I’m going to go spend some time with my wife. See you lot when you get back.” Before he hangs up. Then he hugs me again very tight, and calms me down because I’m still terrified after my ordeal. He apparently slept very well (this does not strike me as strange in the slightest in the dream, though it was the first thing I noticed when I woke up.) and tells me things like that it’s all right now, and that I’m safe now, it’s gone, and holds on to me and talks me down until I’m not shaking and on the verge of tears any more and am feeling better.

He then leads me into his back yard (there is absolutely no thought or fear of the snake out there for reasons unknown), which is beautiful and lush, greenery and beautiful plants everywhere, with a large pool in the center. I see Luna, who’s now a medium to large dog, but this doesn’t seem strange, even though she now looks nothing like she actually does, but I know it’s Luna) and run over to hug her. I’m so happy to see she’s all right, since she came within about 8 inches of becoming a snack just a few hours ago. I go over to her water dish and notice it’s almost empty as she goes to get a drink, so I pick it up and head back to the house to get her some water, and Eric then says “Oh, it’s empty? Thanks.” and takes her bowl to fill it, and I go back to hugging and cuddling with Luna, so happy to see she’s ok. Then, randomly, I'm in an elevator going from the seventh floor to the first floor in an office building, and a man comes into the elevator two floors below me, and presses the basement button. Then a woman gets on the elevator and presses the third floor button. After this, I accidentally press the seventh floor button and feel incredibly stupid and embarrassed at messing up in front of people. The elevator gets to the first floor and I exit it, and walk down a short hall, turn into an office and then wake up.

It's very important that we note that nothing in the dream seemed strange or out of the ordinary, just frightening when the snake was involved. No actions or words seemed odd, my being able to hear the snake's thoughts seemed normal and I even knew what kind of snake it was, as if predators of this nature were a common occurrence where he lived and he'd told me of this before I came to visit, and I just smiled a little when he referred to me as his wife.

Sorry for the Wall-O’-Text >.< I was trying to be as thorough as possible.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance I'd love to hear anyone's input.

I had just arrived for a week visit at Eric’s (he and I have still in the dream never discussed that I like him). It was early evening, getting dark and we were laying together in a lawn chair talking.

(This means that your heart deep down seeks rather love or you admire Eric)

The driveway and front yard have a detached garage, which we have to pass to get to the house. He lets go of me to open the door, which only lets him through with Luna and we get separated

(This means you are afraid to be separated. Afraid that someone or Luna steals your true love)

He then leads me into his back yard (there is absolutely no thought or fear of the snake out there for reasons unknown), which is beautiful and lush, greenery and beautiful plants everywhere,

(This can mean several other things; it could mean you dream of having all this in your life. Or you wish for better things in life)

Ok, not sure whether this can be it or not, but at the danger of being Freudian: a snake could represent a male organ. This could be a dream in part about your sexual attraction to Eric and fear of it - a feeling you cannot escape. Yes, i agree with Rockyz, there may indeed be some element of jealousy of Luna - both the snake and Eric pay more attention to her than to you in your dream. However, you are thrilled that she was not harmed in the end, so I think ultimately you realize how precious she is to Eric and thus she is precious to you too, and your caring overcomes your jealousy. I think the attention you lavish on Luna may in part be due to your shyness, and discomfort with lavishing such attention on Eric himself, so you are more comfortable hugging and cuddling with Luna because the idea of doing it with Eric scares you a bit.

Arrow Snake Thoughts & Super Slow Motion

I'm rather amazed at the quality of Rockyz interpretation. JoannaB also made some plausible points. Before reading JoannaB's post I decided one thing: the giant snake could easily represent all the obstacles between you and Eric. Money, distance, feelings not yet communicated, etc.

Hearing the snakes thoughts - Very awesome. I don't recall ever having a similar experience. The super slow motion is very interesting too. I haven't researched it on Dream Views, but when I was a kid I had a few terrifying slow motion nightmares. I don't recall having them since childhood.

      Hi, LadyDaphne
      Thanks, Joanna for the link.
I've been around a long time and this is the first 'giant snake' dream I have come across, so I was very interested in reading it to compare with my own of some years ago. There are many similarities though the context and impact were different.

For one, the description of the snake, it's movements and posture were almost identical - like the same snake. Did you imagine it was a boa or annaconda - i.e. a constictor, not venemous? It bit you, so probably so. A few recollections of my dream and I think you'll see what I mean. (I wouldnt know where to find my post of it - too long ago). These are only hilights of a long dream.

I'm riding a small motorcycle down a rural road when a guy on another cycle (a little larger than mine) pulls next to me. We understand that he is taking me someplace (being my guide). Soon we arrive at a large multi-story white building. I get the feeling it's a lodge of some sort - like an Elk's Lodge - members only. We mount some wide and long stairs to a hall. I see straight ahead an enormous snake, its head rising well about the Amazonian garden, complete with waterfall, that had been created for it.

My guide walks away into the community area of the Lodge. I understand it is time for me to meet the SNAKE. It's an initiation for membership into the Brotherhood. Now, I cannot exaggerate the imensity of this snake. Its head towers above me and the rest of its body was hidden in the thick foliage. I couldn't tell really where it was or where it wasn't. I was trepidatious no doubt.

Then I spy a line of barrels leading up, supposedly to the waterfall and understand that i should crawl through them. So I enter and crawl almost through the last barrel when I feel something on my legs - it's the snake. I feel it coming up my back, it was moving up under my shirt when all of the sudden, we are eye-eye. Like you said, its head was huge.

But I don't panic, rather I feel a deep sense of security, a motherly thing, maybe. I exit the barrel and I'm on top of the hill. The snake disappears into the forest and then reappears in its original posture - its head high above. Exhilarated I go back down where my guide is waiting for me.

The dreams ends with the two of us sharing a formal dinner in the dining room. I was now a member and felt a tremendous sense of accomplishment.

Of course the snake and Kundalini connection cannot be ignored. In your dream the Kundalini may be stalking you, but I almost bet the bite you suffered would have been nothing except for your fear. All-in-all, I think the dream positive and benign and marks a way-station in your spiritual journey.

Thank you all for your input

I've done some thinking about the possibility of my being jealous of Luna, and it doesn't seem to fit. In the dream, I was frightened for her safety and immediately afraid that she would get hurt. I wanted to protect her, and felt the best way to do that was to alert her 'daddy,' since I didn't know what to do and somehow he may have dealt with predators of this nature. My feelings towards her were completely maternal, and this is backed up by my rushing to love on her and care for her when I entered the back yard.

The snake in the dream was, as said, huge, and it was a restrictor type. It moved very fluidly. It seemed to use the s curve of its travel to get distance and then bunch up when it arrived at whatever its target was. It moved in a way I've never seen another snake move. It was a deep reddish brown and there was a fair bit of bulk at its neck, almost like the hood of a cobra.

The bite I suffered was only an injury, you're correct. I never saw the snake's teeth, which is quite interesting, come to think of it. It was really biting down, though, and when I pulled away, I remember there being tearing and it getting a piece of my arm, but there as no blood, and though the dream never addressed it, it may have healed quickly because it was not a problem when on the roof and when I got inside, it was not there.

I think this dream may have some connection with the one I had last night, where there is another giant snake, but a different one.
