Please help me... most horrifying dream ever in my entire life!!!!

Dear all... Im glad i found this forum.

I just woke up from a terrible dream. .. I never had this

kinda dream before... Well i shall describe it as detailed as I can :

I woke up in a hotel room.naked...and it kinda felt real as I saw one

of my possesions in the room. I totally cant recall now what is was.

And I saw this caucasian guy when I woke up next to me...

He was also naked.... And i muttered "shit" realising I had been raped...

Im a straight guy btw [ and no offence to anyone )

I saw the man tossing ard for a few times,looking like he was gonna wake up

anytime.... I pick up the phone to call the police but there was no answer.

I panicked and tried to make for the door..but befoe i knew it the rapist woke up

with a knife and stabbed me repeatedly and I knew I was gonna die. I woke up with a jolt at

this point of time. It scared the shit outta me!

Could any one advise me what this dream.about?

2 days ago my eldest aunt whom I havent seen for a while passed on.

I wasnt very closw to her but she was a dearly old lady whom everyone loved. ( I have alrdy lost my dad and grandma)

I felt bad as i hadnt visited her for sometime as i was bz with work.etc...

I also kinda regret not being able to see herwhen she was sick...

I somewhat feel the dream is connected to her death? Im just guessing but can anyone advise

me on why i had such a weird and terrifying dream?

Why would anyone be offended by the fact that you are straight?

Normally nightmares are caused by strong negative emotions. That may sound kind of "spiritual", but thinking about it from a biological point of view, if your brain has an abnormal amount of :input chemical here: during the day because you have stress, anxiety, anger, or depression. It should carry over to your dreams because those are still in there. It can also be carried into dreams by thought process, but this doesn't seem like something you think about.

It's possible you have a guilty conscience and so punished yourself with a terrifying dream about beeing raped and killed - but it could also have just been a random dream and you attatched significance to it after waking up (maybe because you have a guilty conscience). Either way - it's just a dream after all.

As everyone else seems to have stated it seems to be in part due to some guilt, anxiety or stress in your waking life. Perhaps the passing of your relative has had a great affect on you and you haven't quite come to terms with it yet? Perhaps you feel vulnerable and the world is against you? Although for such a violent and disturbing dream you must be feeling extremely guilty. As Darkmatters said though, it is only a dream, I'd be more worried if it were a recurring dream.

Was the life like manner of the dream the thing that shocked you the most?

I dont think it was necessarily guilt. I mean, it could be, but it could also be just a sort of morbid curiosity about death - maybe you sort of wanted to experience what it might be like for a person who finds out they're dying? Sort of putting yourself in her place. But the fact of the rape in a motel room first seems to indicate a strong negative emotion, so maybe guilt.

For an exploration of death and it's impacts I'm sure there are more positive dreams to have, including murder and rape seems a bit far fetched :P

You're right though, guilt could be only a secondary feature, dreams and the brain are a complex beast and can have many layers and meanings. With that in mind it could be a way of exploring death, the mind works in funny ways.

Haha true! I just didn't want it to seem like we were unanimously saying it's definitely a guilty conscience.

Of course not, if dreams were that simple then we would inhabit very boring dream worlds indeed :P

thank you for the replies ., I believe I do have a guilty conscience with regards to a matter and also have been a lot of stress to me becos of my job .... but the main thing i believe was becos of my aunt passing ....

Stress could well be the culprit. It causes anxiety dreams, which are brutal and often cause you to wake up in terror. When I was having a really rough time at work (the new manager was an ex drill instructor who treated us like his 'maggots' in the core and it seemed like everybody's job was hanging by a thread) I had a terrible anxiety dream. At the time my mom was dying of smoking-related lung disease and I was living with her to help take care of her, and I dreamed I woke up and could just faintly hear her down the hall whispering "help me - I can't breathe!"

At that point I woke in absolute terror, not sure if I had actually heard it and that's what woke me, or if I had only dreamed it. But I went down the hall and listened at her door and could hear her snoring away, so decided it was only a an anxiety nightmare. During that time I wasn't able to sleep well at all, woke up after just a couple of hours each time and had a lot of bad dreams. In fact the anxiety affected me so much I got a bad case of shingles, one of the most painful experiences of my life, which is triggered by stress.

Google anxiety dreams - I think you'll decide that's exactly what happened here.

And you felt vulnerable, exposed.
Maybe all you felt had left was one thing, therefore perhaps was not meant to be defined in the dream.

Not only had something in your experience taken away from you, but in a way that was opposite to you, to your choice.
The rapist was asleep in you, meaning you were not awake to the cause, or acknowledging it. But it looked like it would soon awaken in you.

You sought assistance inside, justice, or right, but none came.
That could mean none could come, at least now.

You panicked and tried to get out of it.
But you became aware of what took from you, which repeatedly hurt you, that you knew would kill you inside.

Wow thank u for yr very interesting explanation/interpretation...im now still wondering why i go tthis weird dream...

Have you considered learning lucid dreaming, if you do not already? If you had bad experiences in life and feared that they might happen again, learning self defense would be a good idea. Lucid dreaming is a self defense technique against really disturbing nightmares. If you become aware that it is just a dream while you are dreaming, you can learn to overcome it during the dream, or you could ask your dream characters for explanation of why this dream is happening, and sometimes they may provide you insights that your conscious mind cannot. Of course, I wish you that you never again have a dream as disturbing as this, but you may consider learning about dream awareness just in case. With a non lucid dream while we can speculate in hindsight what it may have been about, and we can try to reassure you that it was "just a dream" (but how reassuring is that? Depending on how vivid the dream was, I bet not very), whereas a horrifying experience can be transformed in a lucid dream into an empowering experience. If there were no other reasons to learn lucid dreaming, I think this one might be enough.

Have you tried to think of what experience can be like that?

This dream sounds like a feeling of a loss of control, that you are realizing after it is too late to do anything about it. Not only are you becoming aware of the situation after you have been dominated and violated by this other person, your attempt to escape leads to your death. You are in this in between state in which you are realizing this loss of control during a fitful period in which the aggressor has temporarily relinquished their control over you by falling asleep but you are afraid that trying to regain control by fleeing the situation will lead to disaster. Perhaps a better way of dealing with the problem is to confront it head on before it has time to awake and take control of you again by stabbing you in the back.
