      clearing out

hi, I,m a 47 year old housewife, two teenage kids, no life of my own. I have been I'll this year and using a drug which has been known to cause depression to give up smoking. Weight gain has followed the giving up smoking. I have felt undervalued, and at times that I have no identity. My dream is as follllows, I am in an old mansion house on the second floor, I own this mansion but only the rooms in the back half of the house is habitable. I haven,t owned the ouse long. I,m in a sitting room with my mother and husband, I jump up and say I might as well get started, I seem quite angry.I go into a rom at the front of the house which is full of cupboards, wall to wall floor to ceiling, at this point I have no idea what is in the cupboards, first cupboard reveals a clothes rail, other cubboards reveal similar stuf. I start sorting through the stuff, the only piece of clotjing I can recall is a fat lady dress, in auk size 30 or bigger. Moving some stuff I can see straight down the front of the house, all the rooms have cupboards in. Whilst I,m sorting things out, my husband is trying denim jeans on. My mother has brought a stranger to me who points to a group of women - who are in my house, and says they are not happy with you emptying the cupboards. I tell them I own the stuff, butt out. At this point I wake up, but then go back to sleep, straight back to the dream and I discover hats and hat boxes, the hats are pretty but old fasdhioned, eighties styles. There are fabric covered hat boxes there, the boxes have strangecoin purse type tweisted fastenings. I awake fully before I can open a box.

Firstly, I'm sorry to hear about your personal problems. As a 20-year old guy it'd be ignorant of me say I know what you're going through, but I do understand how you feel as I've talked my own mum through similar problems. I hope these resolve soon.

As far as the dream goes, I assume by the fact that you've written it here that it felt significant to you in some way - what exactly stood out to you amongst the details? To me reading it, nothing seems all that unusual, so it would be helpful to have more information on what you were thinking or how you were feeling about the various events. Is there anything significant about the clothes you were sorting? Was there something you were looking for or were you generally just organising the cupboards? How did you feel about your husband and mother throughout? Did the hats make you feel at all nostalgic?

The most significant thing for me was waking up and then returning to the dream, I actually went to the loo and got back in bed, I fel my subconcious intended me to get to those hats. The hats did not feel significant though and I wasn,t that impressed with them. I did fel that my husband and mother left me to the task alone' but brought people in to interfere. The clothes just seemed old.
