tidal wave dream

I was in a povern strucken village type place and there was huts closely everywhere. I heard everyone panicking so for some off reason I put two pairs of socks on then rushed outside. I was in a hut on the edge of the village. I looked and there was a huge tidal wave coming at me. I was so scared, deep water and drowning are my one of my biggest fears. I ran to a field close to my hut and the water didn't even wet my socks. What could it mean?

Those things that are exaggerated, like the "two" pairs of socks and a "huge" wave are often the subject (or point) of the dream. The village setting may mean you have feelings of inadequacy, yet you were secure enough to pull on your socks and go out to meet oncoming trouble. You didn't describe the field beside the hut, but I am assuming something like green grass, a meadow?
