I looked up the history of pretzels and why they were shaped the way they are. There is debate about this but it is generally thought that a german monk made pretzels to give to children who learned their prayers. The Pretzel was thought to look like children's arms folded in prayer. So perhaps it has some religious significance for you? Alternatively, and this one comes off the top of my head, the pretzel is "tied in a knot" so it could be a play on that kind of figure of speach. If you "tie yourself in a knot" it means to get yourself emotionally worked up over something. "Tying the knot" can also refer to getting married - in some cultures anyway. Well those are just a few thoughts. Let me know what you think.
In general, food (eg the pretzel) tends to represent emotional nourishment and/or nurturing in dreams and in your dream, you are lining up for the pretzel. You are waiting patiently for your turn, to get a pretzel. This might be symbolising you waiting patiently for your turn to get some nurturing for yourself or something? When you woke up from the dream, you did think about the possibility of getting together with the man so perhaps this rings true in some way?
Your dreamself might have chosen the guy in your dream because he might represent the unreturned feelings you had for him (you mentioned having love troubles so I am thinking that this is what it is about). You were talking to this guy, but not making eye contact. So representing not making a connection, and not allowing a connection to be made perhaps. Then he jumps in front of you out of turn. (Could be that you feel you've waited long enough for whatever it is, and for some reason, you still haven't gotten whatever it is you are waiting for. You see people getting in before you.)
That this guy got beaten up by his girlfriend is probably representing something about you more than him. Ie, he did something wrong, but didn't deserve that treatment. Is there something like that in your own life? Perhaps you can see some fault within yourself, but the effects this fault has had on your life seem over the top?
The left side that was bleeding, the left side of the brain is associated with logical thought while the right side is associated with creativity, so it could have something to do with this. Alternatively, the heart is in the left side (mostly) and the blood was going all the way down to his chest, where his heart was. The face represents your presentation to the ouside world. This has perhaps been damaged somehow. So perhaps your confidence has taken a blow lately and this has hurt you emotionally or something?
Well not sure if this made any sense in your situation, but I suppose the key could be waiting your turn. Maybe you need to be a little more forward, a little more assertive and direct when it comes to expressing your needs and wants? Perhaps a more proactive approach is in order.
