      confused about a dream

i had a dream the other night where i was in my backyard at home, an hour and a half away from where i was sleeping. It was a weird and pointless dream, but at one point in it, i was starring at the outside of my kitchen window. it was so vivid and i remember looking back and forth slowly at the spider webs on the windows. and in my mind i was thinking about why there were no spiders on the webs. thats all that was going through my mind. why was this dream of mine so vivid, could it have been a lucid dream or something?

If you were not aware that you were dreaming, then it was not a lucid dream.

It was probably so vivid because of either your Creativity is very high or you needed to interpret that dream because it was so dang important.. Remember that everydream is important you just hve to dig and find the meaning's behind them.

TygrHawk is right, it is only lucid if you knew you were dreaming. Also, it could of just been purely your body. You may have reached your highest point of REM then, so it became very vivid.

This is what I would call a "prophetic dream". Don't get thrown by that term, I only use it to categorize normal, insignificant dreams and these ones. The marking characteristic of such a dream is a sense of it being very vivid. You almost feel like it's real, or like it stands out. I get them a couple of times a week usually.

My theory on this is that it is the subconscious mind trying to tell you something. That is part of the purpose of dreaming, to sort out your thoughts, and that goes for thoughts that you've pressed deep down into the subconscious.

Funny enough, I had a dream about spiders once. I was standing in an alleyway, or some kind of dark stone alcove, and there was a shoe in front of me. I was about to put the shoe on, when, out of the shadow where he had been standing against a wall, a man stirred and intercepted me. He shook his head, took the shoe away, and wanted to show me something. I had initially looked inside the shoe and blown away any dirt, to make sure it was clean before I put it on. However, the man reached in and, to my astonishment, pulled out a very intricate net from seemingly nowhere. The net was full of spiders, and they swarmed all over me. I woke up and, for about 10 seconds, could still feel them crawling up and down my body.

When I woke up, and throughout the day, I was aware that this dream was a message,
not just a dream like the others. The meaning has come to be in retrospect. That dream I had in November of 2003. Proir to having it, I was very much disturbed at the direction things were going in my life. It was to the point of being distressed. I could see where my future might lead me, and I thought it would be safe, but deep down I feared I might go down the wrong road. Now think of the dream. The shoe symbolizes a path. At first, I was about to "wear the shoe" (take the path), and through my own inspection, it seemed fine. Then the man (my higher self, or even a higher form of intervention/wisdom) stepped forth and showed me how, if I followed the path, I would end up getting "caught in a net".

The dream was not telling me to avoid the path. It was telling me to take the net out first, or, more correctly, let "him" take the net out, and, after "dealing with the spiders", I could put the shoe on. Looking back, I see very much what this dream has meant: because a force higher then my own choosing force lead my life synchronistically to work as an Au Pair in Scotland in the fall of 2004, completely a tangent of where my main life path will lead me, and, sure enough, there are spiders abound here! So here I am now, "dealing with the spiders" (and on another level, I am learning a great amount of things about myself while I'm here regarding what I want to do with my life), and when I go home, I will put on the shoe...

I provide that anecdote simply to put into perspective how profound these prophetic dreams can be as a guide for your life thread. There is yet a great mystery between the subconscious mind and its connection with the state of being from which we come, i.e. nonlocal existence. However, I am of a conviction that the subconscious mind knows far more than simply what goes on in the world around us. It has an imprint, in some way or other, of the world beyond us, and what we brought with us when we started out life, i.e. purposes and choices to be made.

Now, you members who don't believe in anything beyond science, don't go and spoil this one! I am not arguing that the above is true, only saying that it makes one have to....wonder....

To sum up, I would encourage you to look at your dream and everything that was on your mind before having it, and see if the dream can be taken in symbolic form to represent what your subconscious mind was trying to tell you. A spider net can often symbolize a feeling of being trapped. In this case, there being no spider there can signify something that is/was threatening you but with no evident perpetrator. Was there something in your life that was bothering you at the time but you just couldn't get to the bottom of why it was bothering you? That's just one possible angle, I'm sure you will find the right answers. And I'd be very interested in seeing what they are!

I am deeply sorry that the majority of humanity takes such offense to my "extremist" ideals.

Thats a good point Anelior, i to believed that my subconcious mind was trying to tell me something in this particular dream. i forgot to mention earlier that i think i was in control of my head movement while looking at the webs. im not too sure but thats the whole reason i am writing about this. it stunned me when i awoke. i believe i was controlling my head and eyes in the dream, looking back and forth wondering where the spiders were at. maybe the spiders werent there bc in my subconciouse my life is not a s stressfull as i might think it is.

      Head Movement

That is very interesting, about being in control of your head movement. It's almost indicative of your ability to shift your perception, i.e., how you view the potential troubles in your life. You see the spider webs, but there are no spiders there. By your own expectation, you look around (change your perception) to find the spiders (perpetrators/creators of trouble situations) which create the nets (problems with life). But there are none.

To me that dream speaks volumes, but I'm sure if you think back to your own unique life view and the situations in your life at the time, creating everything that would have been in your mind at the moment, it will speak with an even greater amount of colour!

Feel free to share it in this thread if you want, or if you'd rather keep it to yourself, that's fine too.
