Dream about my dog.. plz help

Ok. I never remember my dreams, or never think anything of them. But for some reason I remember this very clearly and I had about 15 different variations of the same dream last night.

The dreams all start out same way. I am in bed with my wife, and sometimes I hear something or my dogs do and wake me up. I have 2 dogs, a female German Shepherd, and a Male (all black) German Shepherd, both are very protective. But I get up and take the male Shepherd (Leonidas) to the door with me and see what is going on. When I step out there is a pillar/shrub on each side of the entrance, and as soon as I step out. The intruder either tells me to give him something or sees my dog and runs.

From there, the dreams vary. In most cases, I let Leo go as soon as I see him or he runs, but my dog never catches him. Sometimes he will chase him around the house, and the intruder jumps a fence. Then the intruder will look at me and my dog growling at him.

Sometimes there will be more than one intruder. In which case, I always had both of my dogs. And as soon as I see the intruders, I let my dogs go and they chase them.

The dogs were very obviously my dogs, and not random dogs. Also I never seen the face of the intruder. So I don't think it was someone I knew, they were always wearing a mask.

I'm really not sure what the dreams mean. But I am fairly certain the mean something, since I never remember my dreams. And I am in Iraq, so I didn't see my dog, and didn't watch any dog movies before going to bed. Also the fact that the intruder(s) never actually get into my house.

If you have any questions, please ask. I remember them very clearly.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Hi there, and welcome to DV.

There is a really solid mix of elements here. First, you have your two dogs.. not only a symbol of protection - as you mentioned - but companionship. Second you have your house, and the well-being of you and your wife. Third, you have an intruder - a threat. Someone or something that intends to harm your family and your home, who is also unable to be identified for his true nature and is always just beyond your grasp. This is pretty strong imagery here, but understanding the story is a bit tricky.

since you've had this dream several times i think it can be understood as a warning or something you are worried about alot. I can imagine that being overseas has you thinking alot about your family back home, and most likely concerned from your safety while you are away.

The intruder is easily warded off because you have a defense in place (that being you and possibly a group of people that are either loyal or likeminded; represented by the two dogs), but slips away because you don't know who he is. If you understood this threat better, you might be able to catch him, or at least prevent his return.

This is where I need to turn it over to you. Does this ring a bell ? your intuition or gut reaction should tell you. You need to think about what worries you the most about this intruder? what does he want? how important is what he wants? if you answer those questions, you'll come close to figuring out the real identity of who the intruder is.

I'll try to give you only an idea to interpret your dream. There are too ambiguous symbols in it and if one try to write a full interpretation, it will be boring...At least it would be boring to read.
First, it is evident that you miss your home much. The house and the wife symbolize it perfectly. It is your warm, tranquil place, where you feel loved(the bed, sleeping). But your intuition(dogs) perceives something wrong( dogs smell dangers in the air)which try to keep you away from your personal space( you have to go out and see what's going on). May be it is your work or someone who tries to persuade you to stay away( wants, runs, makes you stay out of the house while the dogs try to catch him).
The dogs represent your personality. One of the most important qualities in your personality is to be protective. German Shepherds are used in army and police, so their main purpose is to serve, to be useful, they are aggressive but are able to control their anger and obey humans(sense, hierarchy). It is not by accident that you mention the name of the male dog- it means Lion and this meaning adds more qualities to your description- you defend your territory, you are ambitious and authoritative.
When you are in contact with other people you firstly show(or the they notice) your ambition and steadiness(the pillar) and that you are shy at first sight or try to hide your emotions(the shrub). The space around the house is that spheare of your life in which you are in contact with the outer world(work, friends). The chase takes place in that exact area, so look around yourself and try to see the real intruder. Does anybody try to divert your thoughts from or from those who really love? Does anybody of your friends or colleagues demand more attention than is due? What keeps you out?
Just one more thing- dogs try to protect your inner world(your home) and their nature is to be guardians, so they depict the way in which you are able to prevent the influence of the intruder. You know your dogs best and your intuition uses this symbol to show you certain qualities which will help you to keep the intruders at distance.
