      No visuals?

Often times I'll find myself dreaming and I'll be lucid, but there wont be any visuals. But all my other senses work fine, I can hear myself talk and I have a sense of touch. Often times I'll wake up from this state or a few times I've had a FA. Should I just stay still and keep trying to open my eyes, or what? Has anyone else experienced this occurrence?

Yah I have had this a couple times recently. I just saw black, could rub my hands together and RC(nose plug) but I felt like I was stuck in bed. After waiting for awhile I tried really hard to get up to find some light, but I ended up just waking myself up. Bummer.

Yea, it's really frustrating, because it seems like no matter what I do I can't seem to create imagery. Perhaps next time I should try and stay still. I remember reading about dream exit induced lucid dreams or something like that. Apparently you can just wait for more imagery? But I dunno, I'll try and figure out what works for me. Lemme know if you come up with something.

UGH, I just woke up from a nap where this happened twice. I couldn't see, but I could move my dream body and talk. I tried opening my eyes and I believe my real eyes opened, but I couldn't move my body, it was sleep paralysis. I believe this happened twice. But if I closed my eyes after being in sleep paralysis I would fall back into a dream except I wasn't lucid when I re-entered.

To increase your imagery, try to focus on things in your everyday world. Look at the grass, the trees, the clouds, find textures and focus on them throughout the day. See how lighting and shadows work. Once you start noticing these things and you can close your eyes and imagine them, you'll probably be able create imagery in dreams.
      ...And then to dream...

Hmm, I try to pay attention to "waking life" and my dreams are usually pretty vivid, but I'll strive to pay attention more. Perhaps then, like you say, it'll be easier for my mind to create. Oh, wouldn't it also be good to try something I'm familiar with, like my apartment?

Well, I've had the no visuals thing happen to me too. I think that it may actually be the short periods in between REM sleep. So basically, I would just wait for the next dream to form. I remember this happening several times in a row once, and it was actually really cool, because I kept staying lucid. I would sort of think to myself "Ok, now I'll just wait for the next dream". Then after a little while, the new dream would form, and it was great because on entering the dream I was already lucid, therefore prolonging the experience.

If I was you I would just wait for the next dream. It's can be pretty cool.

Here are a couple of things to try that have worked for me. When no visuals you can say make visuals now! or try visualizing something and it may catch and be the dream so you may enter it. Cheers
