      Am I too excited?

The night before last I had my third lucid dream, unfortunately it didn't last too long. After realising I was dreaming I sprinted down my driveway and jumped onto a stone pillar, with the intention of propelling myself off it and hopefully flying; but just as I was about to do so I woke up. On other occaisions I have wasted good opportunites to have lucid dreams by immediately waking up once I realised I am dreaming. Am I getting too excited or perhaps I'm being too adventurous trying to fly in my third lucid dream, can somebody please help me with some tips on remaining in my lucid dreams and gaining better control in them?

yeah you are get too excited. I know its hard when you first realise your dreaming as there is so much you want to do.I find the best thing to do is just to satnd still for a minute and then shout that this is your dream and you can do what you want. I find this helps you relax and can also help your dream control and try not to be too adventurous for your first few lucids focus on just trying to make them last longer by simply exploring the environment your in which is still really fun. best of luck

No one will care about what I am going to say, although I know it is the truth. You cannot be over-excited in a dream to wake up. Only if you think you will wake up you will. Just be confident and think that you will not wake up because of such a silly reason.

Agreed. What about all those crazy nightmares you have, where you are the most scared you have ever been, and you still dont wake up for a long time?

Its all in your head :O

Maybe you just need to take some time to get used to the feeling of being lucid. Next time, try to focus on just exploring your dream. Be real attentive to your senses, and keep a curious and inquisitive attitude towards your environment. That way, you will be paying close attention to the dream world.

How are you waking up? Do you feel distracted by your real sleeping body in bed? Does the dream just black out? Do you find yourself fully awake in bed afterwards? You can probably reenter the dream, even after you wake up. The majority of the time, when I pop out of a dream unexpectedly, it turns out to be a false awakening.

I tend to find that my dream just blacks out; one moment it's there the next it isn't. I have had limited success reentering dreams, but I will stick at it nevertheless.

I had this problem too my first few times. I feel my heart racing then I start to think I'll wake up because of it and then I wake up! What I do now is take a deep breath and start thinking of what I want to do, this helps me to forget about waking up which, as mentioned above, is the real problem. So take a deep breath and and jump right in to the fun stuff. It took me a few dreams though to get it down and I occasionaly still have problems with it so you just need practice. Good luck!

Yeah, I find that if I think about waking up I usually do wake up.
