      Introduction:

      This is a quick tutorial which will hopefully allow those with poor dream control to get what they want.

      You need to understand that good dream control comes from a certain frame of mind. You can want to do something extremely badly, but if you don't know you can do it, you will most likely fail.

      Control comes from knowledge and understanding: you need to understand fully that you're dreaming and what it means, to provide you with the knowledge that you have the power to do what you want.

      The following few steps are a guide to how it's done:


      1) Know that this is your dream

      A common problem, it would seem, is that those new to lucid dreaming still have thoughts at the back of their mind "is this really a dream?" or "what if I'm actually awake after all?". It's understandable; finding yourself inside your own private world, one which can be completely convincing, is a new sensation for most.

      However, you can't afford to be held back by nagging thoughts, or worrying about the potential consequences if you aren't dreaming. Not only does this provide a needless source of worry, but it will prevent you from doing whatever you want. For instance, if you worry about not being able to fly and hitting the ground if it's not a dream, that will likely come true. Dreams are built on expectations.

      The best way to make sure you're dreaming is to do a good reality check if you're not sure. Pinching your nostrils closed (assuming your nose isn't blocked due to some reason in the real world) and trying to breathe through your nose is an excellent test.

      When I'm lucid, I never ever worry about if I'm actually awake. If I do awaken during/after a lucid, I always do a reality check; not only will you catch false awakenings this way, but you will always be sure about when you are dreaming, and when you are actually awake.


      2) Don't make excuses for things to work

      I've seen posts where people who have problems getting things to work start trying to make excuses to get them to work. For instance, going back to flying, they start imagining that they've become radioactive, that there's a large force beneath their feet, or whatever.

      Making excuses for things is detrimental in the long run!

      Firstly, you're trying to play yourself against your own mind. You have to try and delude yourself that X is a plausible reason, when you already know it's an excuse. It will also cause you to rely on excuses, and will prevent you from realising the ultimate truth: you don't need excuses.

      3) Understand what lucid dreaming means at the fundamental level.

      What does lucid dreaming mean at it's most basic level? The answer is obvious, but a surprisingly great deal of people don't seem to understand it. You have as much or as little power as you want. You make the rules. You don't need to rationalise this power, try and invent excuses to get things to work, or obey laws of nature.

      In the Matrix, the whole concept of "freeing your mind" is to realise that the Matrix is simply a computer simulation. That the rules don't have to be obeyed, because that is what they are: a simulation of actual laws. Lucid dreaming is very similar, except the world is inside your head, instead of existing in a computer. Unlike the Matrix where the machines create the rules however, in lucid dreaming you not only create the rules as well as break them!

      The beauty of this, is that when you understand it, you don't have to explain things away to get them to work. By realising that it is you that creates the rules, you also realise that you are not bound to them in any way. Laws of physics? They're completely meaningless here!

      When you understand this completely, you also will have no trouble getting what you want. You might need to focus and concentrate in some cases, but you know you can, and this means that it will happen!


      4) More specific wishes may require focus and concentration

      One thing to point out, is that some more advanced techniques, for instance creating items out of nothing, you may need to focus more to get the results you desire.

      It might be relatively easy to create a shirt, but created a long-sleeved blue shirt with a specific pattern can require more concentration.



      An example of how I use this:

      The first time I tried to do supernatural things in a lucid, it worked perfectly; in my second ever lucid dream, I was able to fly perfectly. Why? Because I knew I could. It was my dream, and there was no reason whatsoever why I couldn't do it. I flew because I wanted to, not because I invented reasons why I could fly.

      When I want something, I make it happen. I don't try to do anything, I do it. There is a difference.

      About me: So far, I've had 4 lucid dreams. In the 3 of them I've tried to do supernatural things, I have always achieved it. To date, I have flown, conjured multiple items out of nothing, conjured people, phased though walls, conjured lightning and fireballs, ripped items out the ground by telekinesis, and demonstrated super-strength. To date, the only limitation has been the amount of time I've had whilst lucid. I have effortlessly done things first time, which people have struggled with after many lucid dreams.
