Thread: Telepathy possible?

My teacher of philosophy was saying it is possible. They had an experiment where two people in submarines was tested and they were writing what the other thought. Simply amazing, isn't it. Who can do telepathy? I tried it only twice.

Isn't it amazing? I can give you my thoughts right now without speaking. Or even seeing you. We're miles away, and you can read my thoughts just now due to a strange dance of fingers on a plastic board! Almost magical.

To me, language and writing is all the telepathy that's necessary in the world. If our thoughts were involuntarily expressed, I fear great strain on our species. Our social structures, a million years old, were not built upon an open consciousness. If telepathy of the invasive sense came into being, most would go crazy. Not to mention the torrential shifts in our system of government and law enforcement. It's very fun to think about, though.

Telepathy where the sender voluntarily transmits, and the receiver voluntarily accepts, is the most acceptable variety (if it exists at all). However, I'd prefer just telling them what I want to say.

I don't understand how the submarine telepathy would work. But I have seen brain wave reading devices that you can play video games with. Is there a web page that details telepathic events? Also, I heard a little about pyromancing from someone around here, I think that they are similar, but neither seem plausible.

I believe that it is very possible, but not something that I would ever want to be part of. I think that someones mind should be there own. I very much agree with the person above that it would cause a great strain on our world.
