Then close your eyes and quickly reopen them, and a whole new scene should appear, this scene being one that more closely resembles the really creative stuff your dreaming mind can present. Also, doing this with your remembered dream goals in mind will very likely help you to fashion the dream in which you had originally planned to be. This process will take some practice to do successfully, but it is much easier to do than it sounds; especially if your desire to leave the current dream scene is strong.
I believe there is something about the presence of your waking-life self-awareness in a dream (aka, lucidity) that encourages your unconscious/dreaming mind to produce dream scenes that best represent the place your current mindset (lucidity) is supposed to be: namely, waking-life. So it keeps the scene as mundane as possible, probably in an instinctual attempt to avoid confusion. The best thing to do, then, is to give your mind a little kick, to remind it/yourself that it is okay to abandon the mundane and let your dreaming mind to take you to the fantastic places you wish to visit.
