Hey guys, |

I have no idea..but these are some things that come to mind |

Quality LD's: 16
Ok Mes, i have not tested these methods properly since i don't have regular lucids like some people :p Ok, here goes, i'll give you a huge list of ideas. |
|
i used to use telekinisis to pull the sun back around the world. I hate it when its dark in my dreams too |

Dark LDs can be nice. But light ones are clearer. I think your problem is expectance. |

Ooooh thank you, those are all great suggestions. I agree confidence is key. Next time I'll just have to shake off that feeling of paranoia somehow. |
|
Isn't it weird how we both had LDs last night that were too dark? Mine is posted in the Task of the month thread though! |
|
Adam, I just read that, that's pretty cool. |
|
Either your parents or pretend you have the clap lights, you know where you clap and they come on, just think to yourself it will work |
|
I would suggest AdaA and Lucid Seekrs idea's all of them should work if you believe and if you can move around in your FA I would suggest you go to the door and say to yourself that when you open it, it will be bright on the other side and then open it and WALA! Repeat as necessary until it works. |

I wonder if you can make the moon shine as bright as the sun... |
|
Perhaps try opening a portal to a completely different dreamscape - one that isnt at all related to real life, preferably somewhere bright and in the daytime. There you might have less holding you back in terms of confidence. |
|
you could get a remote and use that? like to to menu, and then brightness. and turn it up. that was my first thought... |
|
I have a power I call spotlight vision. Spotlights emanate from my eyes and follow my sight. If that's not for you, you mentioned that you turned on a lamp. I've heard that dimmer switches are far easier to use in LDs than on/off switches. |
|
Try summoning a candle or torch/flash light. Hrm actually try being the fire, that'll be interesting and useful. |

hmm, usually my LD's are always too bright =[. I ends up with me squinting so much and running around that I wake up. |

haha, that would be so cool if people could actually merge dreams. |
|
Some great suggestions above. Have managed to do this before. Had to convince myself that the light was changing, and accept it to be truth - much the same as accepting that you are flying. I didn't have any nifty trick for it, just willed the ambient light to magnify. |

We who are about to dream, salute you!
Check out http://www.lucidity.com/NL52.LightandMirror.html, it's a summary of an experiment done by Levitan and LaBerge. It has actual results to show that turning lights on and off is tricky in dreams, and only works about half the time. |

Brightness is what I'm currently working on in my dreams as well. Last night I was faced with this issue, and at first only succeeded in making stars in the night sky more bright. Finally I said out loud "the sun will rise in one minute," and it did! It got brighter pretty quickly, and after that everything seemed not only lighter, but a lot clearer and more real as well. |

What Sky Saw - a lucid dreaming journal
Almost all of my dreams both lucid and non-lucid happen at night. Brightness however has never been a problem because it is always that movie quality non-night in which there is no sun but everything is still perfectly clear and visible, like under a full moon. I will say, though that the idea that light levels are uncontrollable in dreams is wrong. I have made the sun rise and it was the most beautiful thing I've ever seen. I just normally don't bother with the light as it isn't important to me. |
