Thread: Magic in dreams

Think of it as energy-waves instead of magic. Or something simpler atleast.

I like to use a magic wand - it's an extension of yourself so it's easier to believe the it's the wand doing the magic rather than doing it yourself. So I've had more control and better luck using a wand rather then just pointing my finger.

Maybe you have to practice abit more, I know that I'm not good at controling things in my dreams yet, and I've read on other's Dream journals of thier first lucid dreams getting total control is hard. just keep practicing. or maybe you really do have to get a wand and be like harry potter and say the rights words correctly.

I think the biggest thing is that you have to believe the outcome will happen, and not just hope the fireball or freezing magic will come. thats what ive read, not my experience.

And to branch off what Burns said, you could also try using a talisman of some sort that gives you magical powers instead of just assuming you have them. Ex: A necklace, bracelet, glove, etc.

I have had quite a few harry potter dreams and I have to say that the wand is a very powerful tool I mean I used a bunch of spells but when you yell

"AVADA KADARVA!!!!!" and huge green beam shoots out of the wond instantly falling any innocent DC's who happen to be near you get a sense of accomplishment. I would go search for a wand or say to yourself "When I open (fill in blank) there will be a wand" and tah dah got yourself a boom stick.

I've done some magic type stuff in LDs to impress my dream characters. Seems when i'm in the mood to show off it's easy. But when I"m trying to accomplish something on my own it's harder to make the magic happen. I think in my case I need some sort of an audience to fuel me.

I've never used a wand in a LD. Perhaps I'll conjur one and use it to make my one of my pets talk to me so I can finally accomplish a lucid task. Burns, you're a genius.

I get the Harry Potter dreams too when I've seen one of the movies that day. None of them have been lucid though. Last night I did have magical powers, but I just used my finger. I mainly just used it to shut people up by making them unable to talk, but I was only lucid for most of it. I was only a little bit into the dream when I suddenly realized I was dreaming. I just stopped walking and said "Wait, I'm dreaming. I want Jacob." I turned around and there he was, walking down the road towards me. I was still able to use magic after becoming lucid and it wasn't a problem to make what I wanted happen just by pointing with my finger.

I wonder if you would have had to scream that much. But anyway, i would have been kool. As for magic, i find verbal commands work well for me, i will say, i can trow fireballs. And zam, i cam throw fireballs.

I wouldn't call it 'magic'. And from personal experience, it only works if you actually believe it will happen. Sounds strange but it's true

Ahh yes going Super Saiyan in a dream is always something that never lets me down. I noticed I can go SSJ and SSJ2 pretty easy, but whenever I want to go further I have to scream like that ^_^ and I even get that aura and electricity around me.

I am much stronger once this happens and flying is second nature and very very easy to do not to mention how fast you can go.

you can really do anything, as long as you believe it to be natural that you can do it. Perhaps the idea that it is magic (which you know you aren't capable of) that is causing it to fail.

I had a lucid dream where if i concentrated hard enough I could levitate objects and then when I exhaled deeply it would launch them straight forward, they were only small things like a book and such and I couldn't like move them around the room, just lift and launch I played around till I awoke.

I had a dream where I could summon my Firebolt, and blank out people's memories.

maybe you could summon yoda who's going to teach you in the Force

I've never tried because I haven't yet had an LD, but it's worth a try as soon as I've had the first one.

I have no problems with it but I think that come directly from watching too much HEROES. Just let it happen don't force it.

I think remaining passive is the best thing for summoning in dreams. (excited) TRY IT!

maybe trying to feel heat in your hand could work.

another thing is you have to trust that you can do it. making sounds isn't very realistic , its easier when you believe you can do it

only recently have I been able to do these things. like I just knew I could do anything I wanted so I did. I'm not sure if you are but try not to doubt things.

in my next lucid i'll try to sommon one of those oldtime wizards that were really powefull, lol maybe he'll teach me how to use greats amounts of powers including teleportation, energyballs (complex stuff that i myself create) no wands ect lol i Want to use my own confidence and will power to create my own magic hehe no need to waive some stick around..no offense though...but it's that if you do things yourself in a dream, you become a pure breeder in a dream.

hint: what if for some reason you loose that wand, atleast you have your hands and a load of energyballs to create and destroy stuff with. am i right.?

yer ive had a LD with magic in it. it was wierd i just sorta pointed at something, concentrated a bit and the thing just sorta started floatin and i could control it with my mind. wierd

What you must realize is that the Magic you do in dreams, is a more Human Magic rather than a mystical magic. (Not that it cant be completely mystical and spellbinding).
I know that for a long time, When i would LD I would be one of two people:
1.Myself as a neutral being (as far as good and evil are concerned)
or
2. A malevolent being with powers capable of destroying human life in an instant-(incineration, explosion, suffocation, objective murder, or just simply snatching life from people that would stand in my way)

Only with the latter was I able to just do it, seemingly effortless( because when I was him, I had a definite intent. Ergo, I wanted it bad enough and knew it would happen, so it would.) However, I woudlnt feel it. I woudlnt feel my lifeforce making it happen, it was simply my power and my intent meeting and creating a horrific(though quite pleasing scene at the time)

However, When I am myself, I know that I have all these powers, but when I use my "magic" it is an AMAZING feeling. A reverberating vibration that echos from my entire body. I can feel it when I use it. I can see the air around me bend to its will. I have to will it to be, and it surely does. I have done many things

I have Split the earth beneath me asunder, created tidal waves( that one was probably the most fun and by far the most intense feeling ever)
and so much more.

More so, whenever I do work "magic", I feel it alll through my body.
It is not enough to just wave a finger and hope a fireball flies from your hand.
You have to feel it ignite your soul.
You have to give it spark, or else there will be nothing.
