Traveling to your room in a LD!

Sorry if there is a thread similar to this but I was curious if anyone has successfully traveled to their own room in a lucid dream. I tried to do this last night and once more a few days ago. Both attempts failed. Every time I realize I'm dreaming, I will spin around, and think of the details of my room. Once I arrive there I am convinced I'm actually waking up instead of being in my dream room and this then makes me fall out of my lucid dream.

Is this just a bad idea? I'm assuming that since this is probably the room I spend the most time in, the level of detail will be so accurate that I won't be able to realize I'm dreaming.

Any help is appreciated. I've always thought it would be chilling to explore my house in a dream.

every single wild I've had (6 of them) all start with me lying on my bed in my room. (as many people's do.) Dild's I guess can be harder to get to your room but I've only had one of those :p

Yeah, attempt to induce an LD through the WILD technique.... works wonders for this. I initially always end up in my bedroom.

Why would you want to get to your room?
      I don't understand...

Is it a familiar place or something? The easiest environment to generate. My room is no more familiar to me than the 15 other rooms I've ever had, I guess.

      ^ Mhm, heard 'dat.

I have had an odd thing happen. Like most I often appear in familiar settings including my room. However I used to try to look in the dream version of my bed to see if my body was there. This alwats woke me up, so now I intentionally avoid my bedroom.

Heh, my first every LD was a WILD in my uni room. I rolled out of my bed, stood up, then turned to see myself still sleeping on the bed. Freaked me out... for some reason, I thought I was stuck outside of my body -- I ended up laying on top of myself to try to get back in. >_>

As the other posters have mentioned, WILDs usually let you start the lucid dream in your own room, but i dont think theres much of a point in going there, theres many more interesting things you could do while lucid dreaming.

Exit your room, and if you live with anyone... attempt to wake them up. That's fun. Such realism really does startle me.

I tried scaring my mothers DC like that once. Before I got the chance she quickly and suddenly started floating towards me in a very scary fashion. I'll think twice before doing that again...

Is it possible that it was your moms guardian?

Yes, most of my WILDs start in my childhood room or my childhood backyard. Kinda tired of it. But it's fun to try and look at your sleeping body, especially if you think it's OBE.

      @ Litt91
You can try incubating your dream by thinking about the place you want to materialize in. Think about how it looks, feels, all the details you can think of and experiences you have had there. That may work. Happy dreams

That's an interesting thought, whatever it was did a good job of getting me out of there...

I had a lucid 7 days ago where I span around, attempting to land on a beach. But instead I was in my bed, still lucid. I guess you could say I mistakenly teleported to my room .

I'm glad, I had a good chuckle when I got over the adrenaline... So did my mother when I told her.
