Dream spinning

In my dreams when I notice that im in a dream the first thing I do is dream spin, because all of the times I`ve tryed this out it has worked perfect! I can get more lucid by using this method and I keep things real, last night in my LD thing were starting to fade away, I did a couple of dream spins and it all stayed together.

Does this work for everybody like it does for me? :wizard:

This one time when I was dream spinning, one of my eyes stayed in one place while the other spun. Needless to say it was very weird :shock:

Yep spinning is definently one of the easiest ways 2 take control in an LD
Or seems the studies seem 2 be leaning towards supporting it 2 be a fact.

In the beginning I used to do this alot. But not really anymore because I have found better ways to increase my lucidity. That and, the last few times I tried to do it I spun myself right out of lucidity or into another dreamscape...when I didn't want to leave the one I was in. So I typically only do this as a last resort if my dreamscape sucks I can use this to change everything. :)

Clockwise or Counterclockwise. If my memory serves, i think the preference if toward counterclockwise spinning, no? Counterclockwise does seem the more natural way. When men lead in the dance, they often turn counterclockwise. When I want to make one of kitties dizzy, I seem to automatically choose to spin counterclockwise. Aviation has even adopted the Left Hand pattern as its norm, and aircraft typically circle an airfield counterclockwise in preparation to landing.

It would be odd, then, if a clockwise twirl would suddenly be the norm for dreaming, though often things are backwards going from one realm to another.

I'm not sure about Counterclockwise. According to the accult knowledge it is believed to generate negative energy. You should work with the Earth and go clockwise for the positive. It does not suprise me that Counterclockwise is the normal. Seen the world lately?

I have tried dream spinning and it really works for me 2. Either to change a scene or to stop it fading. There is some risk in it like Nina said though.

Okay, so let me be sure. You've tried both and Clockwise is better. Or you've just done clockwise and are pretty sure you can vouch for clockwise.

But, yes, just on your say-so I will go clockwise.

It is so hard to remember. Years ago myself and a few other Kundalini Initiates did experiments with twirling our energy columns in our dreams and one way worked out better than the other, but it is so difficult to remember.

If Clockwise was good, then I could remember that Screw On is much better than Screwing Off, and counterclockwise is the universal standard for all lids and nuts and bolts and such, for unscrewing them -- screwing off.

I go clockwise, it may have soemthing to to with me being left handed, or maybe not.


What are some of the other techniques you can use to gain more control in a dream besides spinning?

iv tried spinning both ways :P
the first time I did it it did nothing, then I did it again and the wallpaper on the walls changed, then I did it again and I woke

Stephen LaBerge developed this technique when trying to find a way to keep from waking. First he tried falling backwards and found that it woke him up most of the time. He said the spinning creates the sensation of you dream body in motion complete with the inertia. There is no inertia or gravity in a dream but because we are familiars with these sensations we reproduce them. He said he finds it most useful for entering another dreamscape. Just remember while spinning that you are dreaming.

LOL!!! I used to do that to my doggie all the time. But he's too old for that now. :(

a lot of times when i spin in dreams i fade away from lucidity. i think it tends to distract my attention away from the dream and into the spin. my spins never change the scenery either, usually there are only slight variations to the place i'm in at the moment.

and i naturally spin clockwise. is that weird or something?

Looks like some people are getting the facts a little twisted. Lol :lol:

I also spin clockwise...

If you look ate the earth from the North Pole its turning CCW.If you view it from the south it's CW.I don't know if it matters. I guess it all depends on how you look at it.

I ALLWAYS spin counterclockwise and that just never fails.. I think some people should try that one..

I always spin clockwise, but I figured that was just a tendancy I had because I am left-handed.

and im right-handed.. but why that makes a difference? :shock:

LOL I don't know I was just trying to see if there was any correlation. I do alot of things differently b/c I'm left handed. Like I can only walk on the left side of people or I feel weird. And I have to sit on the left side on an airplane, and I sleep on the left side of the bed hehe.

On the subject of dream spinning, I used in my last lucid and it worked extremely well for changing the scene. The trick is, if you want to change the scene, you have to spin fast enough so that your vision blurs, or close your eyes. For more control, keep everything in focus and think "More control. I will have more control." It worked for me.

Oh, and I spin clockwise :D

I didn't try spinning enough to be absolutely sure, but I think that it does make you stay lucid and keep things more vivid. However, for me at least, it's a horrible method for changing scenes.

Unfortunately spinning wakes me up! So I have to work on alternative methods of changing dream scenery :(

Well... I don't know... maybe you could try looking down, closing your eyes and then saying "And then the scene changed!" then opening your eyes and looking back up... I don't know lol(what is it with me and "And then"? lol). For me it's worked perfectly though

I spin in the counter-clockwise position myself I found out the results for me are far better. I guess I've always had this tendency to project the opposite of whatever is natural for me in the waking world. To me the Dream World is opposite of my waking world.

hehe, closing my eyes also wakes me up ! :( So I have to keep my eyes open at all times.

One of the transportation methods I use is teleportation: I stop focusing on current scene and let it go while visualizing/thinking of another place! I do few hand gestures (kinda like "shape the surrondings"... and "pop" I'm in another setting that meets my specifications! The transition is swift and seemless...
