How can I stop my nightmares part 2

Okay last night was different for once.

First off I want to thank everyone for their helpful advice. Trying the fight this thing did show some results but with a strange outcome.
Alot of people were asking what this "thing" is in my dream. At first I didn't know. I t always hid in the dark parts of the building and when it hunted me, the lights would go out where ever it whent so I couldnt see it. But last night was different. I got a somewhat good look at it.
My dream/nightmare last night started like all the others. I'm in an old run down apartment complex/wearhouse and the thing is hunting me down(for identification perpouses I'll refer to this thing as "The Hunter") like most of the time I'm aware that I'm in a dream because I keep having it all the time. So I remember that I should confront the hunter in hopes it would stop. I went to the nearest window (too dark outside to see go figure) I broke the glass and grabbed a piece then started looking for it. I knew where to find it. Where ever the lights go out is usually where it hides. S I'm walking down one of the long hall ways, I saw at the very end the lights where out. I stopped. Then came towards me. The lights whent out one at a time as it got closer and just one light fixture away it stopped when I held up the glass. That's when it stepped out of the dark halfway. It stood upright and was all black. It's skin it's claws it's torn clothes and coat. It had no hair or face so couldn't tell if it was angry or surprised. But it had an all over creepy look to it. I wasn't sure if it was even human but it did have long sharp black claws(imagine Edward Sccissorhands with ebony instead of sccissors) it stood there infront of me and spoke(which by the way the voice was just as creepy as it's appearence. It sounded like a man woman and child speaking in unison)

The hunter: "You shouldn't be here"

Me: "No shit your trying to kill me"

Hunter: "Why do you think that is? Why do you think you can't wake up until I kill you?"

      Me: "How should I know?"

Hunter: "There are worse things out there then I. I'm just trying to get you out of here before they find you."

Me: "So killing me is your fucked up way of 'protecting' me?"

Hunter: "There isn't much time. You need to wake up. Or would you rather stay in this purgatory and see whats worse then me."

Me: "No I want to wake up. And I want you to leave me alone, these are my dreams and your not welcome."

Hunter: "If that is what you think then so be it. Put down the glass and I'll wake you up."

Me: "If its allright with you I would like to wake up on my own. Getting stabbed hurts asshole."

Hunter: "Then go. The door is behind you. But if you go then I can't help you."

      Me: "I'll take my chances."

Keeping my eyes on the hunter I slowly walk backwards and with my free hand I feel for a door. I grab a knob and open it. There is daylight pooring out from behind me and as it fills the room, the light makes the hunter vanish. I dop the glass and run for the outside and as I step out I wake up.

It's the wierdest dream ever. I don't know what it means but at least I didn't wake up in pain and cold sweats this time.
What do you guys think? Is it over or am I gonna have worse nightmares?

Good job confronting it!Thats really brave of you.If that were me i would have been hella scared.Well since it told you that it was trying to protect you,and you confronted it,the dreams will probably stop. But really,i would go back to him next time your lucid and ask it what he is protecting you from. That would be closure for me.

Do you have any worries about LD? Like some people get scared when reading about sleep paralysis. Often it is said, that a nightmare can represent repressed fears. Being scared is a survival mechanism, it is supposed to protect from getting hurt. It is not useful to just ignore the fear away, but instead one should have a look at the message and what one can learn from it. Then there is no reason to be afraid anymore.

      a few things:
was any/all of this lucid (were you aware and in control)?
i mentioned the use of "the fight" as a strategy to confront and stop a nightmare dc (dream character). but i said no small weapons like a pistol--or a peice of glass lol, nice--. but you confronted and talked to to your nightmare dc, quite a conversation too, it was so awsome to read!
when im in sitaution like yours but with lions and such trying to kill and eat me, i have no interest in diplomacy or reasoning with my nightmare dc's. i am so angry and hateful towards them for causing me so much pain that i just want to destroy the fvck out of them.
it really sounds like your making progress though! u opening the door and "daylight pooring out" is significant. i think it means that you are becoming more in tune with yourself, more confident, and so will have less nightmares, and more positive and lucid dreams up ahead if you keep developing your consciousness.

Yes I was lucid. In these dreams/nightmares im almost always lucid because I've been having them so often I can tell im dreaming easily. It was only when I first started having thee dreams that i wasnt aware.

Good job confronting it and talking to it. You should try some dream control, knowing full well that this is YOUR dream. Try and tell it off, if need be, use force. I'm sorry if i missed alot more in the first thread because I haven't gone through it, but it seems like if it's occurring and you don't understand why, the best thing to do is to really confront it.

      P.S. Great analysis, Darkmatters!

Ninja just mentioned on one of your other threads that this could be an archetypal dream. And reading the OP above, this hunter just screams Shadow. It hides in darkness, lights go out wherever it goes, it's all black and in black clothing and has no face and ebony claws.

Recurring dreams are often archetypal - we encounter archetypes when we're ignoring something powerful going on inside - and the shadow is an archetype. It's the part of the unconscious where those parts of us we don't want to face hide - those parts of us too terrible or unsavory to face. He even told you he was trying to protect you from something.. I seriously think your unconscious mind was trying to tell you something and you kept running from it and 'killing yourself to escape it'. This language is very telling.

I know you haven't posted since september, but if you do stop in here I'd like to hear how this turned out.

      ** edit **

I've had a little more insight into this.

The shadow represents pretty much the opposite of all your character traits. Interestingly your hunter is predatory, aggressive and violent and your reaction to him is fearful and timid. It seems clear that your unconscious is showing you the repressed aggression you've pushed down into your shadow so as not to have to face it. And those things we repress can well up and destroy us if left unfaced.

The purpose of an archetypal dream is to integrate with repressed fragments of the psyche that will otherwise do damage. Your hunter offered to help you and said "there are worse things here than me" - worse things than facing and integrating with the repressed aggression inside. Such as for instance letting it grow in the dark recesses of your unconscious till it explodes and destroys you (came pretty close with that car accident). Yet still your reaction was fear and avoidance.

It sounds to me like you should talk to someone - do some dream work or therapy. Obviously you have issues to deal with here.
