Okay, my first lucid today! Whoopee! I tried all kinds of dream control methods, none worked, all I was able to do is willingly wake myself up. Anyone know how to have better control?

I found that even if I have a hint of doubt in my mind about doing something, flying or creating something, wouldn't work. Have no doubt and just know you can do it.
Hi Taragaram, have a read in the controll section, there are some great tips there, will be very usefull for you :)
Create your own personal assistant, a DC who will follow you in all your dreams (you can snap your fingers and turn around to summon him/her).
I'm not sure why, but I've found that asking someone else to change things for you is much easier and effective :)
Yeah. Either create a personal assistant or make yourself control the dream. If that makes any sense. You have to fully convince yourself that you are in charge. Closing my eyes and saying that I am in charge usually works for me.
eh, I wouldn't suggest closing your eyes while dreaming though :P
yeah that's why im trying not to close my eyes
Try playing with year dreams a little more before attempting control. Aggressively controlling your dreams slightly destabilize them, even I still just use passive control.
Yeah, be confident.
It's not just about confidence you need to have focus, you can't just try these dream control methods out half assed you have to REALLY focus on it while you are doing it. If it doesn't work try it again right away, and even if you think it will work it might not. It's all about what you really think not about what you tell yourself you think.
The three things I can suggest for better dream control are confidence, expectation, and visualization. Each has it's own specific effect that, when combined with the others, can really help you do anything in a dream.
Like others have already said, you can't be in doubt when trying to do something in a dream. Feelings can be powerful in a dream, as can your mindset - nothing is real, so what's stopping you from flying, or summoning a dream character, or tossing a train into the air? You also have to know what you're asking of from the dream; expect an outcome in your mind and it will happen. That sounds a bit cryptic, but it's quite simple! If you want to summon a dream character, such as one of your friends, just turn around and expect them to be behind you. This leads to the last attribute of good dream control, visualization. When you turn around to summon your friend, imagine what angle they'll be facing you at, what they'll look like, and what their mannerisms may be. The stronger you can imagine something, the easier it'll be to get the person to look like.
One last tip I can suggest is to daydream a bit. It helps you to visualize how something you want to happen will play out in the dream; if you rehearse something and go into your next LD with a "game plan", it can be much easier! If you know what you're doing, it can also keep you from stressing out, which can end a dream.
Compare dream control to watching a movie you've seen before. Or, a movie you've seen quite a few times - you simply "know" what's going to happen.
I would recommend keeping an eager and explorative attitude towards dreams. When I get to my lucid dream dreams im eager to explore and it makes dream control much easier.
