I am about to hit lucid dream #40 and this is a problem that I thought I would overcome but it is still haunting me. |

I have had this too on a couple of occasions. Luckily it doesn't happen that often, but when it happens it is as if my throat would be really really dry, and because of that I am unable to speak properly, and I really have to force out the words. The thing is, the solution to this all up to you really. What helps with me is something simple, like drinking a glass of water, while keeping myself totally convinced that that will help |

Are you dreaming?
Goals: Get lucid [x] | Get in control [x] | Fly [ ] | Go to Bora Bora [ ]
In that order!
Maybe try using telepathy? I haven't personally done it, but I've heard of people having good results from that. It didn't occur to me until I read your post WhatsReal, but I haven't really said much at all beyond the initial "I'm dreaming!" which is always out loud. In the one LD that I did speak, I didn't seem to have any problem ranting and raving at one of my DCs about how horrible the last dream sequence went (as in, not according to my plans)... |

Ah you took my response!, yeah telepathy is often what I use anyway. The feeling has affected my limbs before too, and usually occurs when the dream is weak, stopping the problem at the source would be my goal, basically the better I got at lucidity the less it happened, I'd forgot about it till this thread reminded me. |

this happens to me to like my throat is numb or super dry and if i do speak it really low |

Realize that you are in control, and that there is NO reason you shouldn't be able to talk. Or you can just think, you don't need to speak. |

flowers shall grow
and I am in them
and that is eternity.

You are afraid you will wake up. The only way to fix it, is to do it. Even I have trouble every once in a while speaking. I think, the sound will wake me, even though it's in my head. It never has though |
|
Yeah, I have that problem sometimes too. But the only thing you can do in your dream to wake accidentally is destabilize it, or change your breathing, or add adrenaline. |
|
Use telepathy. Then, realize that trying to speak is exactly the same thing since it's just happening in your mind |

"[...] As a result, the practitioner may decide that a parallel world has been entered: the world beyond, the astral plane, mental space, or the ether. Although travel in the phase can lead to many places, this does not mean that the phase allows travel through or use of actual, alternate worlds. The practitioner should be reasonable"
Michael Raduga (A Practical Guidebook, p.172)
One reason that may cause this is that you're focusing too much on one sense(taste, hearing, feeling, etc) Try to equalize/stabilize/balance you're senses. If you think your skin is numb, try rubbing your hand. If your taste is numb, try eating lots of stuff or lick everything, etc. I still don't know how you can remove your numbness/inability to speak. I suggest drinking lots of liquid(in the dream world) or try to find a musical instrument(flute, tuba, etc) that requires your mouth. Then try to speak after drinking water or playing the instrument. Hope this helps. |
