Non - Lucid v Lucid Dream Control

I've just started seriously pursuing Lucid Dreaming and I noticed quite quickly that I fail at dream control, most of the time. Even though I can manipulate the dream it will usually be in ways the dream dictates or not as I predict. I got really annoyed at this and so yesterday I chanted to myself that in a dream I would be 'God'. Probably not the best mantra but it served a purpose.

That night I had a dream in which I suddenly noticed I had telekineses. I didn't become Lucid, which annoyed me no end when I woke up. Next I noticed I also had total control over the weather. I told a DC about this and they asked me to prove it so I turned the rain on and off a few times before lasooing a car telekineticly. I continued going around summoning and moving things getting increasingly confident. Then, a DC insulted me from somewhere, I think. Well they definately did something to upset me because I turned to face them and the building we were in fell away and storm clouds appeared. I then pointed at him, telekinesed him into the air and shouted "I am God!". I then woke up a bit dazed wanting to attempt a DEILD.

So I'm guessing the mantra worked, but I'm not sure if I'd have actually managed to do all that stuff whilst Lucid. Is is normal to have less ability to control your dreams in Lucid Dreams as opposed to Non-Lucids? If so, why and how can the skills be transferred?

      Actually, sometimes, yes.
      And the answer is self-doubt.
If you know that you are God, then you know that you can do anything.
However, if you are dreaming, and are just beginning to develop dream control you might not be quite so sure of yourself, which kinda takes away your power.
It's kind of ironic. To have complete control over your dreams all you need to do is know that you do.
---o--- my DCs say I'm dreamy.

Yeah in my lucid dreams, I can't do whatever I want, but in my non lucids I have controlled fire and I did it with ease!

Well I learned several powers from non lucid dreams by remembering how it felt to use them later in a lucid dream.

I had a non lucid dream this morning in which I tried to fly.In lucid dreams I will normally justr fly up with full control but this was much more of a glide. I felt almost like a kite.
I accept that my reality is always a dream so if something changes I know I'm right.

My dream control is remarkable. I learned flying with ease in lucid dreams because I have done it so often in non-lucids. It takes next to no effort for me to alter things in the dream. Just remember that it is YOUR dream, in YOUR mind, and therefore you have the utmost power over what happens in it.

Which is why in my non lucid dream this morning my flight was so lame. because I didnt realize how powerful i really was because I didnt know I was dreaming.

I remember reading something on here about your logic center being turned off in normal dreams and turned on (or partially I think) in lucid dreams. In normal dreams illogical things feel logical. You could breathe fire and clone yourself and think it's normal. In a lucid dream though you might still be blocked by logic from the real world. If you are lucid and want to breathe fire, no matter how hard you try, your real world logic might still be telling you it can't be done. You need to reach a point where you are in full understanding that you can do anything because it is your imagination. If you can't achieve that, then you could try to achieve dream controll in more logical ways. Like find gasoline and a torch to breathe fire or something like that. I also day dream 24/7 and I've always been really great with dream control. I think day dreaming could be like exercise for your imagination or dream control practice.
