      Trouble with shapeshifting

Okay, i had another LD this morning, by waking up for a few seconds and going to sleep right away, constantly thinking about how i should go lucid and go to a certain place and do something etc. This technique works to me without a flaw, especially in the morning around 9am, and the image is crystal clear too. I could do almost everything, even run (which is one of the most impossible things to do in a dream) but shapeshifting is still one of the things i'm having the most trouble with... That's because i can't seem to fool my "dream body" enough without losing concentration. Does anybody have any ideas on how tro fix this problem?

I would think that the Higher Mind that creates, plans and produces our dreams is very jealous of protecting our Body Image as one of its most important Symbolic Screens. We have all had dreams in which we've seen grotesque versions of our Self, or simply different versions of our Self. It is a way that our Higher Mind tells us what it thinks of us, or what we should think of ourselves. so the Higher Mind would probably resent if we would simply co-opt that important communication tool away in orde to play like some animal or other.

But what I should investigate, now that I am reminded to think about it, is the Dream Phenomena of being a disembodied point of perception. Haven't we all had dreams in which we no longer had a body but was simply a Point of Perception hanging in the air seeing the Action of a cast of characters, and not being in the action ourselves. Now, consider, how efficient such a simple Point of Perception would be. It must take very little energy to generate and maintain the most bear minimum point of perception. Just think of all the Energy that could be freed up for Consciousness and Awareness. And, spiritually speaking, Body Consciousness -- the Primary Delusion that We are Our Bodies -- would best be addressed by dispensing with a Body altogether to become Pure Awareness. Perhaps I am even mistaken with the notion of retaining a 'Point' of consciousness, except that I would not be able to imagine how a non-centralized defusion of Consciousness would work...

Thats interesting Leo, I don't know if I agree with you about the mind creating the views of how it views us in our dreams, personally my experience with my image and changing form in my dreams seems different. I don't seem to encounter resistance or resentment when I change...

Anyway Pesho, What do you do when you try and shapeshift? How do you go about it, like do you use any form of technique(something like morphing your current form into another) or do you just try and think "ok, I'm gonna be 'insert thing/person here'?

I think that the tough part of shapeshifting is because it's hard to fool how your body feels because the brain is accustomed to it, so its hard to change how you felt your entire life...(unless ofcource you have body dismorphic disorder) Shapeshifting is "the final frontier" for me, and I have tried both techniques: i find the morph technique hard to do because it needs too much concentration and is very easy to lose it, just like the false awakening thing. the "okay i'm gonna be" method seems to have a 30% chance of success since it has worked from time to time, but it also can be easily lost for example if you look at a mirror. Or maybe it all comes down to confidence, and maybe that's what i'm lacking...

Hm. A lack of confidence definately would have a detrimental effect on your ability.

Do you ever actually become what you want to be, even if it's for a short period of time?

Very short period of time.. not enough for me to completely grasp it visually.
