I guess most people have had a Grim Reaper dream at some point in their life, here’s mine (my scariest LD ever): In this dream I was at my log cabin doing chores (as usual). I walked into the living room, which has a high vaulted ceiling, and I could see somebody in a dark hood robe, up-side-down, with their face against the wall, and about half way up. I found this very alarming, and I instantly became lucid. The clarity was perfect and everything was vivid. The dream figure then crawled head first quickly down the wall, across the floor, and then it stood up one foot in front of my face. He was slightly taller than I, and it was the Grim Reaper! I was totally freaked out! He had icy, bluish gray eyes, which seemed to be glowing, and a lizard face. His scales and coloring were actually quite brilliant and beautiful as far as a lizard goes (I thought). The first thing that came to mind was, “Kill him!” This wasn’t a normal response for me in any form, especially while lucid. I reached forward and tore his black, hooded robe off and threw it to the floor. This genderless, lizard biped was standing there completely naked with a shocked look of fear on his face! His mouth dropped open and his eyes bulged wide. He looked totally weak and anorexic. I thought to myself, I’m going to destroy you. In complete rage, I reached forward to crush him, but he shot off in faint wisp of smoke right through the log wall and was gone. He was unbelievably fast. I immediately woke up, and I was shaken by the dream. This was no doubt the scariest lucid dream I’ve ever had. I saw this dream figure once again in an LD last year, but I left him alone and ignored him, and he kept his distance.
After doing WBTB (Wake Back to Bed), my mind is consciously awake, but my body is asleep. This can be very boring while in the ‘void’ patiently waiting for the next lucid dream to start. Sometimes this can last up to an hour before a dream finally kicks in. Sometimes there’s hypnogogic imagery, occasional voices, but for the most part it’s dimly lit nothingness, and it’s challenging not to slip into unconsciousness. I’ve recently discovered that it’s possible to engage the void, and make it a pleasant experience. For me, the void can basically become a dream without vision, but you have touch and sound. Here’s what happened: I had just finished a lucid dream where I was at a very scenic boardwalk enjoying the ocean and having an evening walk, and then the dream faded and I was back in ‘the void’ waiting for the next lucid dream to start. After about 10 or 15 minutes in the darkness I heard some people talking, and I recognized one of the voices! It was my daughter’s! I tried to call her name, but nothing happened, and it felt as though if I had tried any harder, my physical body would have spoken. If my physical body spoke, or moved, I would slip out the void and physically woken up. I could still hear my daughter talking to somebody, so I decided to relax and calm myself into the twilight zone of slipping into unconsciousness. Then I said my daughter’s name, and it worked! My daughter quickly replied by saying, “Dad?” She then sang me a brilliant song that lasted about 30 seconds, ‘a jingle’. I told her it was a beautiful song! Then she came and hugged me. I couldn’t see anything in this state of lucidness, but I could feel her hugging me, and I was able to talk to her. I hugged her back and told her I love her. She jokingly said, “Dad, we have to stop meeting like this or people will start to talk!” I then said, “Daughter, we simply need to be together every night while I dream until we’re together again. A father and daughter can’t be separated.” I slipped deeper into unconsciousness and I found myself fully lucid back at the boardwalk again. I was still talking to my daughter, but she was now a small sphere of light, the size of a ladybug stuck to the side of a weathered wooden wall. I told her again I love her, and that we simply need to be together. She then vanished, and I continued my evening walk along the boardwalk. Shortly thereafter I lost my lucidity and continued in regular dream mode. I don’t remember what happened after that, but I did end up back in the void again, and then I had a pontoon boat LD which I’ll journal later

In this dream I wasn’t lucid, but I thought it was an awesome synchronicity/confirmation that there is validity behind dreams. Here’s what happened: In this non lucid dream I was at work, and a co-worker came up to me and gave me a phone number to call. I asked her to repeat it please because I didn’t catch it. Then the numbers appeared in front of me, and it looked like how they display lottery numbers. Well lit numbers were floating in the air right in front of me. It read 888-####. I immediately woke and wrote the numbers down in my dream journal. I figured, “Yes, I’ve been given some winning lottery numbers!” I interpreted this dream incorrectly. A couple of days later we received a phone call on my wife’s cell. She said, “Somebody is calling me with the number 888-####. Should I answer it?” I immediately said, “Yes, answer it!”, because I remembered the #’s from my dream. It was Vice Principal of my daughter’s high school calling us on her cell. BTW – I had no prior knowledge of the VP’s cell #. She asked if we’d like to come and meet with an Interior Designer to review a design proposal for a ‘legacy wall’ for my daughter who had passed two years ago. We went to the school and reviewed the design, and it was way beyond our dreams, it was truly a great tribute to her life. Before we left the VP came up to me and said, “I wanted to call you, rather than you having to call us regarding the generous donations to the memory of your daughter.” It was a very emotional visit.
