    1. Dreaming of Shared Dreaming

      by , 11-13-2010 at 12:11 AM
      Fragments: Dream Share
In the dream, I've just had a shared dream with my brother and William Shatner. I compare notes with my brother, and he tells me the details of his version. My recall of that dream is somewhat poor, but all the main elements are there.

    2. Shadow Demons

      Shadow Demons
      Clarity: 3/10
      Importance:3/10
      Sleep: Poor
      Sleep Position: Unknown
I forget how, but I come into possession of a comic book that details the lore of a certain race of demons that call themselves the Shadow People. The comic lists their abilities, what they want, how to fight them. Oneironaut is there as I'm reading it, and I tell him he has to check his out.

And then the demons attack. They are invisible, and begin to smack and knock us around. But all of a sudden, the demon attacking us becomes visible. It has yellow dehydrated looking skin. According to the comic, these demons draw their strength from humidity or water, and we're in the middle of drought, which is why he lost his invisibility.
(Was very thirsty and dehydrated when I woke up) I stab it through the chest with a piece of wood, but the demon frees it's self and flees into the nearest public washroom.

I kill a couple of other demons with blue skin, then chase after the one with the yellow skin in the washroom. It picks up a chair from the ground, and I pick up a lifeguard chair as my weapon. I manage to force my bigger chair through the hole in his chest I had made earlier, then twist it around, widening the hole until I tear the demon apart. I wonder why his skin was yellow when all the other ones had blue skin.

    3. The Bridge

      The Bridge
      Clarity: 7/10
      Importance:3/10
      Sleep: Good
      Sleep Position: Unknown
My brother is supposed to get some tanks or something, and asks some military guys he knows. Next thing I know, we're riding in the back of an armored personel carrier, with two army guys in the front. The incongruity throws me off for a moment, but I eventually just go with it.

We pass a checkpoint, and I duck down in the back. The people at the gate hardly even look at the army guys in the front, and we barely slow down for the checkpoint.

Next we come to a bridge, and as we begin to cross it. we notice too late that both sides of the bridge are angled downwards. Instead of meeting in the middle, the slope down towards the water. And our vehicle is sliding down towards the gap in the middle! I'm getting ready to jump out and swim for it, but instead we fall into a metal cage on the surface of the water. From there it carries us to land, to a secret military installation.

Our armored vehicle is full of civilians now, like a bus, and my brother and I get off with our parents. There are things for sale on the park benches, and my mother buys a cylinder of gum which I put in my pocket. The building here are supposed to be museums and schools, but they are all just stores. We enter a convenience store, and they guy working sees the gum in my pocket and thinks I'm stealing. A customer offers to buy it for me, but I explain to him that we bought it outside.

Recall lots of other dreams from last night, but they were either boring, or repetitive video game inspired dreams.

    4. Trick of Perception

      Trick of Perception
      Clarity: 7/10
      Importance:7/10
      Sleep: Good
      Sleep Position: Unknown
I'm playing Vindictus, or rather I'm in the game, running around slashing monsters. On the floor above me, I spot two cartons of indian cigarettes where a pot containing healing crystals should be. I climb to the second floor wondering if I'll acquire them in the real world if I get them in this game world when the floor suddenly collapses beneath me. I pick myself up and begin climbing back up when the boss of the level appears and begins to talk about the cigarettes.

The level Boss says the cigarettes can be twice as strong, showing me a chart with the normal cigarettes and the twice as strong ones. The difference between the two, he tells me, is a matter of perception. He then launches into a long lecture on perception, and how to use it. It's a fascinating speech that has me completely captivated.

Suddenly, the level boss stops his speech in mid sentence, and snatches a necklace from around my neck. I realize what just happened here. He used his speech on perception to dmanipulate my perception so that he could swipe my necklace. While I appreciate the Irony of his maneuver, I don't like being tricked, and I hack him up with my sword until there is nothing left of him but a pile of bones.

    5. Doctor Who/Gray Hulk

      by , 11-04-2010 at 03:48 PM
      Gray Hulk: Origins
      Clarity: 6/10
      Importance:3/10
      Sleep: Good
      Sleep Position: Unknown
I see some framed comic books on the wall, and grab one to look at. It's the origin story of the gray Hulk. I see a lab where they are doing experiments on a cellular level. Recombinant DNA experiments that only have a 0.01% chance of producing something useful. Then I see two glowing green cells, from the original Hulk, and then the gray Hulk's face slowly fade into the scene.

Pulling back from the cellular level to the macroscopic world, the scientists who were working on this experiment are nothing but smears of blood. A military guy say that whatever they saw scared them so much, they committed suicide. To me it looks like something squished them after they were dead. In fact everyone in the project is nothing but a smear of blood, and there is no sign of whatever did that to them.

I pop out of the story, back to holding the comic book, and decide I like this dark re-imagining of the story.

      Doctor Who: Universal Implosion
      Clarity: 6/10
      Importance: 5/10
      Sleep: Good
      Sleep Position: Unknown
Doctor who is standing there, and things around him are fading out of existence. First it's various people that disappear right in front of him, then more important characters. Davros is one of them, which would normally be a good thing, but his existence is essential , otherwise the universe would unravel, which is exactly what seems to be happening.

Soon The Doctor is the only thing left in the entire universe, which is imploding around him, crushing him into a singularity of golden light. Everything is gone but him, and just as he's about to wink out of existence too, he vows to remember everything. Apparently this was all it took to restore the universe, because after the golden flash of the implosion, everything is restored, and the Doctor is standing there with everything normal.

    6. Chuck Norris Cult

      by , 10-26-2010 at 04:20 PM
I haven't bothered taking notes of my dreams when I wake, relying instead on memory. I recall my dreams until I fall back asleep. Unfortunately, that causes me to have the same dream over, only with knowledge of the first time around at my disposal. Then when I wake up for good, having two versions of the same dream makes it very difficult to properly recall either of them. But they were all pretty dull anyways.

The only dream of note I can recall was a fragment from 3 days ago.

      Fragment: Chuck Norris Cult
A guy walks up to me and asks in a tone of voice that implies a joke "What does it take to join the Chuck Norris cult?"

"I don't know, what?" I reply, waiting for the punch line.

"If you knew, you'd already be a member." he tells me.

This somehow seems profound and makes an odd kind of sense. "Well them maybe I'm already a member", I say to him.

Somehow it seemed funnier in the dream than it did upon waking.

    7. Nuclear Catastrophe

      by , 10-20-2010 at 05:37 PM
      Fragment: Ruler of Poland
There are elections, and anyone from Canada or Portugal can apply to run for President of Poland. I apply for a laugh, but actually get a lot of votes.

The people of Poland need to be evacuated, and I send them to an old radioactive bomb site. One of my advisers warns me about the radiation, but the bomb there went off so long ago most of the radiation is gone. Plus there really isn't anywhere else to put them.

      Looting
      Clarity: 6/10
      Importance:8/10
      Sleep: Good
      Sleep Position: Unknown
There's been some sort of nuclear catastrophe, and there are hard times ahead. Being the keen survivalist I am, I determine we're going to need supplies to make it through this disaster. There is a Bi-Way down the street, and when I look out the window, there are already people breaking into it.

I lead my small group inside the store, and instruct them to grab non perishable foods and supplies. I tell them to think long term and to stock up on everything we need now, since other people are going to raid this store. We fill several shopping carts and go back to our house.

I go to bed and wake up in my underwear. I need clothes! I ask if the men's clothing store is still there, but end up back at the Bi-Way for some reason. Other people are catching on and raiding the place en masse. Still in my underwear, I pull some blankets around me and crawl through the smashed glass door, stepping on broken glass in the process.

Once inside, I see employees restocking the shelves and cleaning up. They all stop to give me a dirty look and I run out. Seems like things are getting back to normal, and the power is back on.

    8. Fragments and a Dream

      by , 10-08-2010 at 03:41 AM
      Fragments: Broadsword Class

I'm in my high school gym class, and we're having broadsword battles. The one battle I'm currently watching has been going on for over 40 minutes when it finally comes to an end. I'm up next, but there is only 20 minutes of class left, not enough time for an epic sword fight. The teacher asks us to complete our match on our own time after school. I think that would get me arrested.

      Fragments: Sloan Concert
I'm at a Sloan concert, but I can only see one member of the band onstage, and 2 fat chicks running the show. I go closer to the stage and see the other members backstage, playing instruments behind the curtains. I walk back to my seat and see Steele sitting there. We leave the concert and I try to tell him I saw Dave there, but can't remember his name.

      Gems of Power
      Clarity: 7/10
      Importance:5/10
      Sleep: Good
      Sleep Position: Unknown
I'm working in a warehouse with some other guys, all of us new to the job. We're cleaning out the leftover crap from the company that just left this building. There are other guys there walking out with dollies full of files. We go out back and find the parking garage full of more files. The boss tells us to move them out front, but I want to leave them for the other crew. He makes us do it anyways.

Out front, I find the files we've brought there have all tipped over and spilled all over the place. I have an "I told you so" moment, but the boss makes us clean it up. As we clean, two guys in black show up and begin attacking us. I defeat them, and they drop a little flat house shaped ornament full of tiny gems. I begin picking out the gems, notice some larger ones, and then a very large one help by a little figure on the roof. The largest gem has a ribbon attached to it.

Two more guys attack me with super powers, but the ribbon gem renders me invulnerable to their attack. I fight the two guys, imbued with other super powers from the other smaller gems. I have super speed that marks my movement with cool vector graphics, and all kinds of other powers from my gem collection. My opponents have powers as well, but I defeat them easily.

The enemy dealt with, I begin to pick up more tiny gems off the pavement. I explain to my co workers that the real reason they are here is so we can form a team with the special powers these gems grant us. Next thing I know, we're in a monastery where we will be trained by monks.

The monk lays out several of the gems on the ground along with some mundane items like paper and string, and tells us we must figure out how to activate the gems. I find this odd since I was just using them and all I needed to do was have them in my possession. But I start to fumble with the paper trying to figure out this puzzle. And that's when a bunch of guys attack us. Those tricky monks set up that attack so we would be forced to figure out to use the gems!

I have a fascination with gemstones in my dreams, not for the monetary value, but for the geometry.

    9. Htler's House and the Nazi Time Machine

      by , 10-05-2010 at 11:11 PM
      Nazi Time Machine
      Clarity: 7/10
      Importance:7/10
      Sleep: Good
      Sleep Position: Unknown
I'm in the heart of a Nazi territory, and I see Hitler himself walking down the hall. Hitler enters a room and gets his scientists to fire up a machine. The machine comes to life and produces a round electric blue ball of sparks in a chamber. I'm not sure what this device does until I see Hitler walking down the hall with an older version of himself from the future. It's a time machine! I wonder if there is an older version of me wandering around in this time line somewhere.

Hitler orders me to stand guard at the end of the hallway and not let anyone in while they do their experiments. I take my position and try to look tough with my arms folded across my chest. But I see everyone in uniform, which I'm not wearing, and think that's not a very militaristic pose. I put my arms down straight and wonder how I'm going to stop these Nazis with guns if they want to get by me.

The door I'm guarding is in a class room full of young Nazi kids. When the teacher sees me, she asks if they're doing the experiments in there, and nods her head when I tell her yes.

A large Dolph Lundrum looking dude enters from the experimental side and tells me to follow him. Me and several other people follow him into the time machine and we find ourselves back in the past, in my hometown. Dolph points out a large abandoned mansion, and says it's Hitler's house. I recognize it, but never saw anyone living in it growing up. We enter and Dolph gives us the tour, pointing out elaborate stone work that broke building codes, which was why the house was never finished. I tell him I knew that, because I was the one who put in the floors.

Wanting to show my up for being a smartass, Dolph walks up to me and opens a secret hatch in the floor, swinging so it hits me as he opens it and bowling me over. We all go downstairs where Dolph and some scientists enter a lab room full of equipment. Once the machinery is up and running, Dolph begins killing all the scientists. I watch as he snaps that last woman's neck and then turns his sights on me.

I'm aware I have radioactive spider powers, but since I'm not in costume, I run. Dolph catches me outside, but I manage to bash his head in with a brick. I run back into the house where Dolph follows and corners me with the last female survivor of our group. As Dolph grabs me, I realize I don't need my costume to activate my spider powers and I quickly overpower him. Spider powers for the win!

      Hunting a Crime Lord
      Clarity: 4/10
      Importance:3/10
      Sleep: OK
      Sleep Position: Unknown
I'm down by the yacht club with some guys, trying to find a crime boss so we can take revenge on him. I think he might be doing drugs in a party fort I remember from a previous dream, but then we catch a break and someone hands us 4 tickets and a picture of the guy we're looking for.

We walk to a secluded path in the woods that is guarded by several asian men. We give them our tickets and the let us pass. Down the path, we find a black market bazaar. There are drugs for sale, black market goods, prostitutes everywhere. It's an all around cool place!

We spend days walking up and down that bazaar, showing the picture and asking if anyone knows him. Everyone is pretty tight lipped, and we only get a few clues to his location. But on the 4th day we hit the jackpot, and someone with a grudge against the guy gives us his exact location.

      Clarity: 5/10
      Importance:5/10
      Sleep: OK
      Sleep Position: Unknown
I'm hanging out with a group of people I don't know, and they want to go out on the town. I tell them we can use my car, and we all pile in and go over to a hospital to visit one of their friends. Once inside his hospital room, the people begin filling up fat syringes with smoke and breathing them in. The room is littered with these smoke filled syringes, and as I pick one up to inspect it, they give me shit to keep it down so we don't get caught. The stupid door is wide open, they're not trying to hide them, and the have the nerve to give me shit! I don't know what kind of crazy drugs they're smoking, but I want no part of it.

Next several of the girls decide to practice dancing. Two of them are rather clumsy, but one is an olympic class dancer.

Then I'm talking with Albert about Andrew, and how those drugs have completely changed him and warped his mind.

    11. A Woman Spurned

      by , 09-30-2010 at 02:10 AM
      Fragments: Spurned 1
I'm playing a video game, but the shifting nature of dreams makes the rules of the game less than stable. Assigning and dispatching heroes and troops doesn't exactly make a lot of sense, and as soon as I think I have a handle on it, the rules change. Before I've fully grasped the rules, I'm attacked by another player, Jenny O. She's relentless and attacks me over and over again.

      Spurned 2
      Clarity: 4/10
      Importance:2/10
      Sleep: Poor
      Sleep Position: Unknown
Jenny O is being really vicious, yelling at me and turning all her friends against me. The lynch mob keeps growing as I try to leave and get away from this bullshit. Finally, a couple of guys in her corner decide to try and get violent. They attack but I take them out without effort. Yet more guys threaten violence, but I'm not worried in the least and try to point out how easily I dealt with the last two,

I again hurry to leave, but the lynch mob follows, yelling at me. Then 4 of them wheel in on motorbikes, but the guys riding them are like cyborgs. One has chains with spiked iron balls in the end for arms, and the others have various limbs replaced with various weapons as well. As the ball and chain one drives by me, I grab his chain arm and use it take out all of them in one mighty swing. The bikers break apart like they were made of lego, their weaponized limbes flying off.

I keep going, trying to get away, and have almost made it off the military base. As I cut through a foot path, I see what at first appear to be zombies rising out out of the ground all around me. But as I look closer they are some kind of cross between zombies and flesh eating plants, writhing around in the darkness. I book out of there.

There is now someone running with me, and we come to a field at the school. As we turn the corner of some bushes, there is a humongous UFO above us. We hide in the bushes to avoid being seen by it's occupants. It try to get a better look at the UFO, but it's just a huge dark shapeless mass in the sky. I can't exactly see it, but it's presence is overwhelming.

      Fragments: Publishing a Comic
I have a comic book I've come up with based on some characters from a game I was playing, and the comic was backed and published by Betty White. She wend ahead and printed the first issue without much input from me, letting the artist have his way with it. I think that worked out better than if I had been involved.

I have the initial batch of comics in a bag but when I show them to someone, he says it's the same page printed over and over. I look and one comic has all page 1, the next has all page 2, the next all page 3, and so one. The ones after that have random colors, some are black and white, some have only one color. It's a printing catastrophe.

      Between Worlds
      Clarity: 5/10
      Importance:4/10
      Sleep: OK
Sleep Position: Left Side (Right Brain)
I'm in England with some guy, and he calls for a halt by the roadside next to someone's yard. We squat down on our haunches waiting for something. Behind us in the yard, there is a gardening show taking place. I hear the announcer talk about daisies, but the yellow flowers I see don't look like daisies. They work at setting there flowers up to thrive in the yard, but at the end, the wife of the guy who owns the property and was letting them do the show had other plans for the yard that completely undid all their efforts.

I get tired of sitting by the road and want to explore this new country. From what I can see from the roadside, this place might as well be my home. There are two paths behind me that lead into the woods and I follow one. Down the path the tree are all twisted and gnarled, with stone fences and structures mixed in with them. I has a fairy tale feel to it.

I go back to get the guy with me and convince him we should explore the country side. But when we return down the path, it's getting dark and we can't see anything. We return to the house we're staying at, and end up getting chased out and back to our own universe. Turns out we weren't just in another country, but also in a parallel Universe.

I need to return to that parallel universe, and can do so using certain items imbued with random powers like in the TV show the Lost Room. My parents drive me to antique shop where they own one of these items. I was here before and it took a lot of convincing for them to let me use theirs. The object here is a glove that looks like Michael Jackson's which transports you to the other universe when you put it on. The glove doesn't come with you.

I enter the building and the couple greet me, then inform me that their glove was stolen. I ask them if they want me to get it back, but they don't want it anymore. Too many people seeking it out. There is another object I can use, a playing card, but it's not as good as the glove. The card always puts you in the same place in the other universe, while the glove puts you in the place you used it from.

As I'm about to leave, the wife tells me she's discovered more objects, a glass sheet that makes you taller. She brought it up because she saw my mother in the car, who is very short. She shows me the supposed object, a sheet of dirty cracked glass. Then shows me others, a comb that removes earwax, ect. I get the feeling she's just trying to pawn off her junk on me.

      End Times
      Clarity: 4/10
      Importance:3/10
      Sleep: OK
      Sleep Position: Unknown

The world is ending, sort of. I see to be the only person who's planning on surviving, but I'm not clear on whether that's going to be on the ruined earth of in space somewhere. Either way, I fill up several 2 litre pop bottles with water and grab as much food as I can carry.

The time comes, and I'm standing next to some sort of tall demon/monster thing. The earth begins to crumble and fall away beneath us in chunks. The monstrosity and I are left standing at the edge of a cliff, and we know the ground beneath us will fall away too. The monstrosity says falling down will give him a good view of the earth being destroyed.

The ground give way beneath us and we fall. As I fall, I see all the waters of the earth being compressed far below me into a glowing white singularity, accompanied by a voice like in a nature documentary describing the process. The waters expand again into a large sphere, and the remaining debris of the falling earth rains down into it creating new land masses.

The monster and I both land on this pristine new world. All pollution is gone now. The planet has been reborn fresh and pristine.

      by , 09-25-2010 at 05:09 AM
      Rockin'
      Clarity: 8/10
      Importance:6/10
      Sleep: Good
      Sleep Position: Unknown
I'm at a music festival. I know Gord Downie and the Country of Miracles are playing, but I don't plan on seeing them because I don't really like Gord's solo stuff. But the band I'm currently watching is really awful. So awful in fact, that they get pulled off the stage, and replaced with Gord Downie. I'm surprised to see a crackhead I know take the stage with them on the guitar.

So they start playing, and to my surprise, it's awesome! Song after song and it's all great. They even play some Tragically Hip songs like "Looking for a Place to Happen". After the show concludes, I walk away from the stage and see a woman rolling a joint. I approach her and ask if she has an extra nug she can sell me. Turns out she has lots. She hand me a nice looking bud, only a couple of grams worth. When I ask her how much, she tells me 50 bucks. I'm offended by the high price and we get into an argument. She's really rude and I tell her I might just keep it without paying her anything.

Her boyfriend shows up, an ugly old dude, and shoves me. He talks crap until I finally hit him, but my punch is weird, kinda slow and no power. The guy, who now has crutches, comes at me trying to use one of his crutches as a weapon. I grab his other crutch and wield it like a staff, nailing him in the head over and over, but still I'm landing weak blows.

I'm now concerned with my lack of punching prowess. I toss aside the crutch and decide to focus on the basics. Since my form is fine, I focus on drawing power from speed. I punch him a few more times, and my punches are improved, but they still don't feel right.

      Clarity: 5/10

      Sleep: Good
      Sleep Position: Unknown
Some local kids come to my door to show my their weapons. They have some swords and bows, although their bows are rather small and crappy. I take out my bows to show them and try to draw the string, but I can barely move it. I keep trying and eventually get the bow to give a little, but when I release it, the bow doesn't spring back and the string just sags. That's weird, I think, so I go to my room to fetch my other bow.

I enter to find two of the kids running around in my room, and that angers me. I yell at them and chase literally chase them out. My brother chastises me for being so mean.

In my room I see an empty case of beer, but it's full of melted ice. I worry it's going to soak through the cardboard and spill, but when I inspect it, it's not leaking. It must have been made to hold ice. But when I try to pick it up, the corner rips and water floods everywhere. I grab towels and blankets to soak up the water so it doesn't ruin the hardwood, but the more I try to clean it, the more water there is.

      Clarity: 4/10
      Importance:2/10
      Sleep: Good
      Sleep Position: Unknown
I'm at a water park with friends from high school. We run around the facility and I recognize areas from a previous dream. The bunch of us go on a ride aboard this huge wooden raft like boat down a river. Everything is fine until I spot this huge violent waterfall. I fully expect us to plunge over the falls and have the boat crash beneath the water nose first. But when we go over, the boat glides slowly though the air like it's made of light styrofoam, and we gently touch down in the water.

The ride stops for a moment and we disembark. We're waiting for it to start again, but the employees have all gone left. I see the other boats ahead of us traveling down the river. I walk back to the building that contains the change room to get my close, but it too is closed and there are no lights on. Several other people show up who want in.

I begin to worry because my wallet, clothes and car keys are in there. Someone tries the door and it's unlocked, we we all head to the change room and get our stuff out of the lockers. I can't seem to find the right locker.

I go out into the backyard to smoke some tobacco through a bong. I try to stay out of sight because it looks funny and I don't want the neighbours to see, but someone moved the table out in the open. There is a round patch of dead grass, dirt and ants where the table was before.

My father comes out and informs me he moved the table. As we walk across the dead patch, our feet sink deep into the ground. It's very soft. Where our feet sank in, an infestation of ants and insects bursts our of the ground from our foot prints. It's disgusting, and my father says we're going to have to tread the whole yard with pesticides.

I know where they are, and go into the basement to fetch the bottle. I enter a room and see it's set up like a laundry mat, with very old washers and dryers and a stack of wire carts suspended from the ceiling. I think it's a very cool find, left behind by the previous owners of the house, and I wander around inspecting things before I decide to lay down for a nap.

My nap is interrupted by voices calling me, and I remember we are supposed to have family visiting. My aunt is in the doorway and I feel a cat curled up on my head. I begin to yell "Cat on my head! Cat on my head!" after an old Kids in the Hall sketch. The cat very friendly, practically hugging me. It tucks it's head in the nape of my neck and begins to make a horribly strange sound.

I'm driving with my boss, some bald guy in a cowboy hat, when we pull over because we're having problems with the truck. We stop in front of a hair dressing salon, and a friendly hair dresser takes a look under our hood. She identifies the problem, pointing out several plastic containers of yellow fluid underneath a cover plate, and says something like they've lost their acidity.

Luckily for us, she has just the thing to fix it. She opens the plate covering the fluid to reveal a barrel of yellow liquid. She spray and aerosol into the liquid, and it immediately begins to roil and bubble, turning a bright blue. The violent chemical reaction subsides, and the fluid goes back to yellow. She pours the rest of her can into the barrel, this time changing it back to the blue color it's supposed to be.

She then tells us the mechanic (now there's a garage in the building) has offered us a little wager. If the boss can guess how many needles are on a pine branch she shows us. She then informs us the mechanic has decided to sweeten the deal, saying he'll give us 245 dollar is the boss guesses it even remotely close to the actual number.

The boss and I discuss this wager in private, and he looks a lot like general Hammond from the original Stargate series. I inform him that the wager is for 245 dollars every week, but if he loses, he has to pay the mechanic every week. The boss thinks it over, especially if he looses, and says "That's 10-15% of what I make selling those creatures."

I now see the mechanic and a bunch of cowboyish looking guys in a rocky desert. One says "That's too easy! You've got a shiny silver target dead center", and others argue that it's not that easy a shot. I then see a small rectangular mirror hanging from a chain in front of a rocky outcrop of stone. The wager has morphed into if the boss can hit that mirror with a bow and arrow, and he's supposed to be a pretty good shot.

Next I'm leading the boss towards the target and the men. The boss is collared and and I'm holding a thick metal chain attached to the collar high in the air, to give the impression he's a mad dog. It's an entrance like from a wrestling match.

The phone rings and wakes me before the contest concludes.
