    2. Assorted hatsu-yume fragments

      by , 01-01-2011 at 05:36 PM
So... first dream-bits of the new year.

      1. Riding horses to pack down soil that was recently plowed up.

      2. Eating entire bags of carrots and celery at a picnic because I didn't want a ham sandwich.

      3. A strange version of Bejeweled keeps booting itself and my laptop up.

      4. Finding our family's cat, Sophie, in a cabin at a national park that had evidence of a bear break-in.

      5. Investigating a strange hotel where the exterior doors all lead to different dimensions. One of my expedition partners has a wolf on a leash. Near one of the doors, there's a falcon of some sort with a reddish-brown back sitting on a dead tree. I say something along the lines of "Hey, Mr. Falcon" and it perches on my arm. As we all head toward the door, I notice a hot orange glow through the cracks of the door. The wolf starts straying in the opposite direction while its handler tries to pull it back toward the door. I ask the falcon if it thinks going through the door is a good idea, and it responds negatively. So instead of exploring that part of the hotel, we end up eating falafel and scrambled eggs from a food cart.

      LUCID

If my hair keeps changing colour in the pictures, it's because that's what it tends to do IRL.

      09/26/10

Fragment about going to my (late) grandma's church for a Halloween party. There were some really cool decorations. A distinct lack of alcohol, however.

I'm in the front entrance to our house. Everything seems normal, and I do a routine reality check just because. I count my fingers. Onetwothreefour... new ones start sprouting. Well, that's weird. It's almost like I'm dreaming or something.

I try again, and I get to seven before I give up. Obviously I am dreaming. So... Nomad's task. I need to get to a forest. I jump out the nearest window into the front yard. My brother is there, hanging out with a DC from the Halloween party. Definitely dreaming, then, and whoa...

The dream is destabilizing. The entire world tilts on its axis, and white lines start running parallel to every object in the scene, as they do in Assassin's Creed. I stop to take a breath, keeping my eyes open, and I start touching the objects around me. I kneel down and touch the grass, the concrete driveway, a metal railing, and I'm back.

I decide that the best way to get there is to run in a straight line. There's a forest directly to the south, I convince myself. I cross the street at a run, hit the wall with one foot, and leap onto the brown-shingled roof.

I don't stop. From the first house, I jump onto the roof of the next. Keep moving. I land on some kind of antennae, and the structure sways dangerously as I make the jump to the next structure.

I'm on a scaffold. The next building - a warehouse - is an impossible distance away, several feet higher than the platform I'm jumping from, and twenty feet away. I jump the gap, and I'm suspended in the air.

I pull at my momentum, bending the dream to allow me a few more meters in height - and I grasp the edge of the roof. I pull myself up near the chimney. On the other side of the warehouse is a big camping tent set up in someone's backyard. I jump. I land on the tent, and it cushions my fall, billowing out around me. My vision is filled with yellow and red, and I think hard, imagining the demon boy I'm supposed to rescue, and the dark thing that's after him...

The forest is oppressively quiet. I can smell the pine, feel the hot mugginess created by a recent rain. Fully immersed in my character, I stand in the center of a huge clearing, waiting.

A flash of red goes zooming by. I've found Nomad's demon boy. I'm slightly disappointed. I was hoping I could use this opportunity to discover Amon's origin (a DC I've apparently mentored throughout his life). Instead, it's just a regular demon.

He's being chased by a wolf. I recognize the creature as an entity from my childhood nightmares. It's back, and I'll have to deal with that eventually. For now, I allow the demon child to distract it.

I spot a piece of paper on the ground near a pond. Picking it up, I skim the text. Instructions from Nomad on what to do next.

Did you save the demon boy? Y/N

I look up across the clearing. The demon is running as fast as he can, frantically trying to get away from my nightmare creature. The wolf is gleefully giving chase. I'm not sure whether he's actually any danger, or if he's just toying with the demon. Either way, I have no interest in rescuing the child.

Did you propose to the barmaid? Y/N

I look at the paper, and blink. And blink again. No, WakingNomad, I did not propose to the barmaid. Although, I should pay a visit to Denn sometime in the near future.

      Scare Factor: 3

      Also, this result amused me.

    4. Trains, Paint, Cows, and the Justice League-Assisted Escape from a Horrible Church Camp, Plus Wolves

      by , 09-05-2010 at 10:08 PM
      1. I'm on a train with a bunch of drow-elves.
      2. I'm in a classroom, sitting on top of a set of cupboards, making a watercolor painting of a bunch of pink butterflies.
      3. As an odd form of transportation, I'm among a bunch of people who chase cows to their next destination while riding small horses that can be switched for other horses on a bus. I think I eventually get kicked out because I'm too short for the next horse.
      4. I'm forced to attend a church camp. All I want to do is read a comic book I'd brought in peace and quiet, but everyone keeps bothering me because I'm non-religious. Eventually, I can't put up with it anymore, and with the help of The Flash, Green Lantern, Superman, and Wonder Woman, I escape (by opening a window, oddly enough). I try to steal a horse from part 3 of the dream, but instead, I have to take the long route home in order to shake pursuers. There's a lot of hiding in boxes and cupboards, and I don't think I ever manage to get anywhere.
      5. I'm running through a forest with a bunch of oddly-patterned wolves. Then we spot a deer, and next thing I know, I've turned into a wolf, too, and I help the pack bring it down.
    5. Wolves and buried bombs in a Japanese settlement

by , 08-14-2010 at 05:35 PM (Visions in the Dark)
Dream starts off in a light temperate forest by a rivers edge. There is a Japanese settlement by the water's edge at the bottom of a cliff. Most of the people there dress in traditional Japanese clothing and are miner's and fishermen but lately they have been complaining about wolf sightings near the settlement and claim that the fishing huts are being raided at night by the wolves.

I am sent in with two other people to search the forest and do an zoological study of the wolves and alleged behaviour but we search the forest for many days and find no sign of them at all. When we tell the Japanese settlers this they start claiming that they are being haunted by ghost wolves. That same day active but undetonated bombs are unearthed around the village, leftovers from American bombing during World War Two. The village shaman says that the spirits of these hidden bombs were what the villiagers saw as wolves. The people believe that they will no longer see the wolves now that the bombs have been removed.

My team and I are not convinced that the wolf sightings were just apparitions and search the forest again. We split up to cover more gorund and in the middle of one sunny day I am on a mount or a hill or something deep in the forest when three grey wolves appear and surround me on the hill.

They do not growl or otherwise threaten me but also do not let me leave, blocking my path whenever I try to back away or run. They do not speak to me directly but I sense that they are trying to communicate with me somehow. I use my digital camera to take pictures of the wolves and after I have done so they finally back down and disappear back into the forest.

I contact my collegues and we reconviene at the settlement but when I try to show them the images I captured on my digital camera, my camera will not work despite having a new battery in it. My collegues said that they did not see any wolves themselves but felt that they were being followed.

I cannot remember anymore of this dream.

    6. Log 19 Wolf figurines, "Nerf" war, and a T-Rex

by , 07-17-2010 at 05:17 PM (World of Kaos)
Starts off with me on a vacation with a bunch of relatives. We are all down in the basement of wall looks identical to my house at home. There are several fishing rods standing up on a stand that look weirder than normal.

I go in a room and see two small wolf figurines/statues. One is gold, and one is gray in color. For some reason I decide I need them and place both into my pocket.

Fastforward: I am laying in bed with Sookie from Trueblood (I don't know what the hell is with me and hooking up with girls from that show, lol). We hook up.

Fastforward: Me and all my relatives are outside having a nerf gun war. The nerf guns look very real however, and shoot very realistically as well. I pick up an RPG, and it shoots the foam rocket identically to it's real predecessor. I thought about how sweet of a nerf gun it was.

      ______________

I am driving in a suburban to see a surprise that one of my friends has for me. When we get out of the suburban, I see a full sized, as well as an alive T-Rex.

"How in the hell is that thing existing right now?!" I asked my friend.

"They did took DNA from bone morrow of a T-Rex that was frozen." My friend replied (been watching too much Discovery channel I think lol).

I continued to watch in complete awe, as it's trainer made sure the T-Rex would not do anything ridiculous. I remembered watching this whole thing and noticing there was a small rope "caging" in the T-Rex.

      _______________

I decided to try and DEILD when I woke up in the morning. It worked, at least for a minute. I am standing in the middle of a grass-field, and a wolf is standing in front of me. All of a sudden I feel the dream pulling away again, so I start to inspect the grass blades on the ground to stabilize it. It worked for a couple of seconds, however, it soon completely crashed down, even after an attempt to rub my hands and spin.

Note: Starting to notice that the gold/blonde wolf and gray wolf in my dreams seem to be yet another dream sign, as they show up a lot.

    7. Running with the wolves

      by , 07-17-2010 at 01:49 PM (Hidden's Dream Journal)
In case anyone was wondering, no one is online at 5:30am in the middle of the summer. I wonder why that is.

It was dark, and I was next to a field of tall grass. Knowing there was a pack of wolves in there, I nervous, but I went in the grass anyway and started leading the pack. I had to keep moving and be careful so they wouldn't turn on me.

I dove out of the grass and into a tent in the nearby forest, where my fellow campers were staying. There was something in the forest that would have attacked us if we hadn't gotten in the tents soon enough.

Scene change. I was hiking through a desert-like area, and it was really bright. There were a whole bunch of nets and ladders between various pillars made of red stone. We started climbing, which was scary. The nets were triangle-shaped, so there wasn't much to hold onto at the top. Luckily my dad was able to help by pulling me up the rest of the way.

So I'm standing on this brownish, somewhat slippery/crumbly/sandy stone about 20 or 30 feet off the ground, when I notice there's a giant lava geyser right next to the pillar. First it sprayed up a stream of purple stuff, then it burst into flames. Despite the hot, intimidating stream of lava spouting up right next to me, I was most worried about falling off the edge and going splat.

Dang, why can't the dreams I'm having now be this intense? I found that old dream while going through my school stuff. One day I got really, really bored in Spanish class, and I happened to remember a dream, so I wrote it down on a random page. I'm surprised I can still remember the details of it as clearly as I do.
    8. Flying in the woods

      by , 07-02-2010 at 02:18 PM
      2/10 2010
      Awarness and logical thinking: high/medium

I had a long weird dream before I woke up (or had a false awakening). After that my eyes were still closed and I hadn't moved so I figured I'd try DEILD. I kept lying still. Had to swallow once but it didnt interrupt my DEILD and I started vibrating more and more. I think I saw a blurry cube but other than that it was all black. After a while when I felt the transition was complete I decided to open my eyes, it was blurry and I fell down the bed. But by doing so and not feeling any pain when falling down I took the conclusion that my DEILD was successful.

It was night and I was alone in my old room like in many of my lucid dreams. There wasnt a single light on in my house, all that could be seen were the street lights outside, I didnt like that and the light switches didn't work as usual so I walked outside. Leaped a few times and then started flying. I looked at my hands and it was all so real. To gain speed I did some swimming strokes and later on I just flew like superman over a large forest. The sky was now brighter, more like a cloudy day. Some houses started appearing and I flew over a what looked like a cool car from above that gave me the idea to drive. I landed right after the cool car and looked back at it and it was shit ugly.

Still wanting to drive something I walked around in the area with houses looking for a nice car, preferably something from the late sixties/early seventies. But none to be found, then I decided a motorcycle would be even more awesome to drive in a dream but all I found were junk. I saw something interresting just at the border of the forrest but it when I walked over there I heard growling from the bushes. I took a step back but then decided to confront it and two wolves appeared. I killed both with my hands, got a little shooked up from the experience and decided to leave the place to go flying again. I took a few leaps as normal and took off.

I saw some cars moving on the road. One of them was a boat with wheels, just like in the movie Waking life. I saw this as a sign and I flew down to land in the boat. There were two guys inside it, they both looked strange and had big heads. I sat down in the seats behind them and started talking. Dont remember much about the conversation, my awareness were decreasing at this point.
We got to an old town and now I had completely lost my lucidity and the stuff after was a blur.
    9. #93. My Driving

by , 06-28-2010 at 09:19 PM (Things to Run Away From Really Fast)
      Monday, June 28, 2010

A couple weeks ago, I implemented a new rule: DC's aren't allowed to drive. Apparently, I'm one to talk.

I decide to give up my job in Quickton. I'm never going to have enough money for this, so it's time to leave. I hop on a bus, going west.

Calgary is on a terrorist alert; somebody tried to get into the States and do something bad. As such, travel into the States is practically cut off for the time being.

I'm on a boat, out in the ocean. It's a small boat, and I'm just sitting on a bench holding my backpack. I might be drawing on my ridiculously oversize tablet. The captain comes up to me and says we're getting close to the path of my next ship, so I should pack up. He hands me a whole bunch of change to cover the fare for the next boat.

I wander onto the second boat with my tablet and my backpack. I'm shown to my room. The room itself keeps changing. There are huge windows looking out into a hallway at first, and the whole hallway is covered in posters. Later, the windows look out over a hostel-style common room that I remember from another dream. I remember thinking that it would be really cool to have one of the rooms overlooking the common room on the second story.

I step through the wall and grab a book from one of the shelves.

      ---

"They're fucking cannibals! Close the door, close the fucking door!"

This has happened before, I register dimly, we're on another loop. I'm too busy slamming the door on someone's fingers to notice. I kick them free and slam the door again. I'm turning the key on the ignition - Ben, why didn't you turn the car on while I was fighting - and barreling through the two dozen people in front of us. One hits the windshield, scrabbles for purchase, and goes sliding off as we pick up speed.

We're on the highway to Regina. It's night. I'm panicked and trying to decide if I should pull over and calm down or keep driving as fast as I can.

"Slow down," says my brother, "This isn't helping." We're fairly far away from the compound.

I slow down to 110 clicks, but I'm still passing other vehicles. This shouldn't be a double lane highway, should it?

My brother gives me a look.

"Shut up," I say, "The speed limit is 110."

The road is twisty and I'm not sure where the lanes are and I'm starting to get confused. Abruptly, the car takes a random turn to the left, and I'm in the ditch, driving through a field that doesn't feel much different than the road.

We come to a stop on another highway, adjacent to the first.

"Maybe we should go this way?" No response from my brother, so I put the car back in drive and start moving at a reasonable pace.

The road ends. We go flying off of a cliff. I see everything from the third person, the camera angle far above us and looking down at the mountains below.

This wouldn't happen in real life, I reason. This is obviously a dream. I remember making a car fly in one of my previous dreams, so I try to do that now.

I'm alone, falling through the air without a vehicle. I've slowed my descent reasonably, and I land at the base of a cliff crawling with rock climbers.

I ignore them. What were my lucid goals again? Oh yeah, pyrokinesis. I bring my hands together like I'm holding a ball between them, and slowly bring them apart. Nothing's happening.

I take a deep breath, focus on all of the rage and anger and fear that I felt in the previous dream. I bring my hands apart, and this time a chain of beads of fire forms between them. I wave my hands and the fire dissipates.

Huh. Apparently it's easier to summon fire when you're actually being threatened. Good to know.

I grab a cardboard box wedged in the rocks behind me and try to do the same thing. The cardboard smoulders on one edge, but doesn't catch fire.

I climb up the cliff face and sit on one of the ledges. The place has shifted into an immense cavern, and sunlight is streaming in through the many entrances. The rock varies from pure white marble to pale grey granite.

I see a pack of wolves in the distance. They're beautiful. They're on the same level as me. They get closer, and one comes over and sniffs at me. I growl at him, and he dances back, cautious. He comes closer again.

We're standing at the ground level of the cave, trying to communicate. The wolf catches onto English quickly, and soon we're having a conversation that I can't remember.

At the same time, we hear someone approaching in the distance.

"It's a hunter," I tell the wolf. "You should run. Take the rest of your pack with you."

Suddenly, I'm a lot younger, and won't be able to stand up to the hunter.

The hunter shows up and realizes that his quarry got away. He gives me a ride back to town.

"This place is totally empty," he tells me, "You might not be able to get a ride out for a while."

"No worries." I eye the empty stretch of highway, remember what someone said on the forums. I hold my thumb out, and someone shows up within seconds.

I climb into the car with a bunch of girls - there's one seat left - and we drive off to wherever we're going. I try to pay attention to the roads so I can remember how we got there.

      ---

A dream about a bunch of different worlds. Apparently Aslan kicked everybody (including the animals) out of Narnia. Now talking animals and fairies and Faeries are wandering from world to world, trying to find somewhere to live. So am I, for that matter.

I knock on the door. It opens to a short old woman, who asks what my name is.

      "I'm Rory."

"No, you're not," she says, sounding angry. Apparently there's a prophecy about a girl named Rory.

      "I'm Rory, but I'm a guy?"

"Oh, well, that's okay then." She invites me inside.

There are fairies in cages. I can see the daring rescue from here.

      ---

I'm Harry Dresden, and I'm in a city... somewhere. I remember that I was looking for ways to travel in dreams, and I wonder if I can use the Ways through Faerie.

I'm reading the new Dresden Files book. My mom is in the room.

"Oh, come on!" I say. My mom looks up, questioning.

"Everyone is Michael's vessel. Dean Winchester was Michael's vessel. In that last thing I read, Lucifer was Michael's vessel. Now Dresden? This is getting ridiculous."

Besides, Dresden already got possessed by an angel.

      My Driving. Scare Factor: 4.

The Ways might be an interesting way of getting around, though. Dissolve the dream, wander through the Void, find what I'm looking for.

(The Void being that blackness that seems to be behind every dream.)

    10. The Wolf Pack

by , 09-26-2009 at 05:00 AM (Visions in the Dark)
I am walking through the neighbouring backyards towards my parent's house. As I get closer to my parent's backyard I see that there is a large, suspended wooden and rope bride that goes back into a vast forest behind their house. The forest is like the one that existed there when I was a kid but this one isn't small and continues far out into horizon, what would in reality the rest of the city, now untouched wilderness. The day is bright and warm and their is a clear blue sky. It is close to the end of summer and some of the trees are starting to change colour and drop their leaves.

At the foot of the bridge is a pack of wolves play fighting with each other. They are not small but seem not quite adults yet. There are about five or six wolves and they are wide varieties of colours. One wolf is almost completely white except for a patch of black on his face and left side. One wolf is completely black. One wolf is kind of brownish grey and the rest were grey and white. I have the sense that there are several species of wovles present, but they run and play together as if they were one pack, one family.

A few of the wolves take notice of me but do not approach or make any hostile gestures but seem nervous. I think that it is so cool that not only is there an endless forest behind my parent's house but there are wolves living in it. The wolves stop playing and gather into a circle with their heads pointing in. I hear one of them say something in a strange mix of wolf growls and human speech, but the sound wasn't horrible nor hard on the ears. It was almost musical. When he is done talking all the wolves look up at me, then back at themselves, then back at me (which kind of freaks me out a little) before suddenly turning towards the bridge and running along it into the forest.

Almost at the same time many people arrive with cameras and binoculors, from around front of my parent's house, and ask where they can find a newly released pack of wolves. They are tourists and they want to see the wolves in their new home. I suddenly feel very protective of the wolves and demand that the people get out of my backyard. I feel that they will not be able to survive if tourists are allowed to disturb their privacy all year round. I have the overpowering urge to run down the bridge and try to catch up with the wolf pack. I do not get on the bridge right away but wait until all the tourists are gone. I do not want any one to follow me.

When it is safe I start running along the bridge and it twists and turns through the thick forest. I run for some time but do not seem to get tired no matter how fast or far I run, but running on the bridge is difficult because it sways and rocks quite a bit and I do not want to fall off of it (even though it is suspended, it actually is not that far off the ground). After a while a small clearing appears and the suspended bridge comes to and end at a small wooden stair that leads down to the ground and to a wooden boardwalk that continues on into the forest. My unlimited endurance disappears and it is now very tiring to follow this path. I continue on along the boardwalk anyway and as I walk I pass or am passed by all sorts of people dressed for autumn hiking.

I suddenly become aware this forest is a national park. The wolves being reintroduced is a big deal or something because it is the first project of it's time (to reintroduce wolves into the wild so far south in Ontario) but the reason why most of my home town has disappeared and been replaced with a forest is not revealed in the dream and I am confused as to why the edge of the national park is literally in my backyard. Why is it so close to the edge of the city? I walk for a while and the boardwalk comes to an end. A well worn path in the earth continues on for a bit before splitting into two directions at the bottom of a steep hill. The path leading right circles around the hill along a marshy lake or pond. The left path is straight up the steep hill and over. I choose the path on the left because there are less people on it and it seems to lead back into the nature reserve. I am still hoping that I can find the wolves, though I start to feel that I am doing exactly what I want to save them from: constant disurbance of their privacy. I come to at what I first thought was a clearing but turned out to be the sudden end of the forest. I walk out into a parking lot for visitors to the national park. The sun is begining to set.

The parking lot circles around the north park of the park and comes to an octangular tower, beyond which is a soccer field and a rose garden combination. There are many people standing around a fountain in the right side of the field. The fountain is covered with a rose bush that has large, bright red roses on it. The vividness and beauty of the roses seems to contrast the unusually large black thorns hiding underneath the flowers. I walk through the feild and on the other side is a street with houses along it. I see the pack of wolves running up the street towards an overpass that has a large drainage pipe that leads along the ground back into the nature reserve.

I try to catch up with the wolves but they run into the drainage pipe. The wolf that is white with black patches watches me for a moment, like he is waiting for me to catch up before taking off into the pipe as well. I reach and enter the drainage pipe and find that there is ankle deep water and debris. I cannot see the end of the tunnel but parts of it are lit up by light shining through sewer grates along the top. The dream becomes fuzzy and I do not remember exiting the pipe but somehow I end up in the forest behind my parent's house near the suspended wood and rope bridge.

I run along it again, and when it reverts to a path through the forest, this time it leads to an field beside a large cliff. On the side of the cliff is a glass display case containing a minature representation of a city which is labelled "Old London" and I know it is refering to my hometown of London, Ontario.

I cannot remember anymore of this dream.

Dreamed about students at a graduation, but not a run of the mill one. This one was in the woods, for some reason. There were two teachers - an older man, and a younger man who looked kinda like that one-eyed dude from "Sparta". Anyway, both were wearing heavy cloaks. It was very, very early, so it was very misty. Another student approached them, who'd be in their class next year, and wanted to discuss what they thought of her poetry, but their answer was that "not until you rise to study with the morning mists, when the world is white ,will you be a poet". She left, upset and angry.

Dream cut to the student shivering and alone way out in the woods very early in the morning, the morning fog was pretty solid, so it looked like the trees were rising out of a sea of white. She was kneeling and trying to recite poetry. At one point, she managed to avoid a poisonous snake, although she had no idea. Finally, she wasn't able to deal with the cold any more, so she tried to lie down in some very tall grass to sleep, only to land next to the snake, which bit her in the neck. This caused a series of hallucinations, where she blacked out.

However, at some point, she had a revelation when the sight of a black wolf caused her to realize that the memory of the snake biting and poisoning her was false - there had never been a snake at all. The second teacher had attacked her in the woods and cast a spell on her.

There was then something about beaches, and the sea, and the dream shifted. It was the same character, but she was playing PS3. The house they were all in was like my aunt's old house on Day Ave. Her uncle complained that she hadn't produced any artwork and was irritated by this shortcoming, which she would not explain. At some point, we all went out on the screened patio to look at some seeds we had planted but never watered, only to find that it had been so humid that water was condensing and nourishing the plants anyway, which had grown and were getting ready to flower.
    12. Lupus and Lee

Morning of June 2, 1979. Saturday.

This is a much longer, almost movie-like dream in some ways. The main idea is that I have two very friendly and faithful pet wolves. They are both males (perhaps twin males), I assume, and their names are Lupus and Lee. They save me from problematic events a few times, sometimes from just standing around, based on how potentially trouble-making people react to their presence. At one point, I am in the hospital, which seems like some sort of “replay” of when I had the surgery on my right hand back in 1976. They somehow end up in my room in the hospital and I eventually leave with them a bit earlier than I am supposed to, I think, but I am very healthy later on, and for some reason, apparently had recovered more quickly from being out of the hospital sooner.

They save me from drowning when higher waves rush in when I “fall asleep” on an isolated beach. They are even allowed to be on a city bus and travel with me at one point. Their presence is very vivid and “realistic” and even though I feel like my “true self”, the unlikelihood of having two pet wolves never dawns on me.

There is a seemingly unrelated scene with my best friend making a response of why he supposedly does not have to listen to the teacher. This is the ninth grade class we actually went to (northwest corner of the main high school building), and my last full year of public school. His reply to her is “Because my father is Lucas Taylor, that’s why”. (This was actually not his father’s name in real life.)

This is a time period where I had first begun to find it curious that dogs had usually been more threatening in dreams than wolves and coyotes. In this particular dream, it seems that Lupus and Lee will be my companions and helpers for life - the idea seems very clear and almost like a long-term false memory (even for a brief time after waking).
