    1. Alarmed by Alarms

      by , 10-08-2017 at 11:49 AM
My alarm is going off. It's incredibly loud and annoying, and my hands are trembling as I try to shut it off. I'm swiping for all I'm worth, and the icons on the screen are sliding left and right, but that sound continues.

I realize that it's not my phone ringing at all. It's my wife's phone. I grab her phone from her and swipe ... swipe ... swipe! ...

The sound is piercing and persistent and annoying.

It goes on for about ten seconds, and I'm thinking about launching the phone at the wall when it dawns on me that this phone isn't ringing either. The ringtone is different.

I wake myself up, genuinely rising out of sleep, and I open my heavy eyes. Beside the bed, my wife's Kindle alarm is going off.

I reach over like a man clawing toward safety, grab the Kindle, swipe toward 'dismiss' or whatever it says.

      Finally, It stops.
    2. Experiements

I was in a dream place. I remembered doing MILD, and I was like "oh I am obviously in a dream" without doing a reality check. I was, so I walked around my house telling people they were apart of my dream, and they said yeah but didnt really care. So I decided to find a way to wake up in my future dreams, so I closed my eyes. When I did this I tried to open them, but instead I felt the muscles IRL trying to move but paralysed. I could not see, and could not open my eyes for 2 or 3 seconds. It was not scary, but interesting and so amazing.

I will call this my official fully remembered, in control, lucid dream.
    3. Wait, I WASN'T dreaming?!?

Okay, so I had been helping tear down a Superchic[k] concert in a church in a nearby town that I've never been to before. (Because I had helped set up.)
As the last things were being loaded into their trailed, I walked back into the the backstage area, which was designed to also function as a small gymnasium.
I paused and thought for a moment...
      I am in a what?
      Big, empty room. [dreamsign]
      With what?
A small number of people in the far corner. [dreamsign]
      And there is what outside?
      A trailer full of stuff.
      Which is?
A sort of collection of things. [DREAMSIGN]
      And what just got over?
A concert by a band that is probably a step up in popularity than this venue would be hosting.
And you're helping them pack away their gear?
      Yes. (Hmm... that's weird)

...hey, what's that fifteen feet up the wall?
      It's a door- wait, A DOOR?!?!?
      Yes, it's a door.
What the heck is a DOOR doing a foot from the ceiling? Wait-

I promptly spent [roughly] the next 200 seconds performing up to two DOZEN reality checks, many of them multiple times.
      No dice.

Whaaaaat??? All the criteria in the book have been fulfilled, I have GOT to be dreaming... right?

      Well. I guess not.
    4. The Importance of Dreaming

      I haven't recorded a dream in a long time.
Have any of you seen the movie "Waking Life"? It's about lucid dreaming, and the importance of dreaming. We're watching it (for some odd reason) in my Creative Writing class, and it made me want to get back into lucid dreaming. I think it's dumb to be wasting my sleep, yano? If you haven't seen it, the video is on google videos. Here's the link! Waking_Life.avi
Seriously, watch it. It's amazing so far.

      So let's try this again.
