    1. ccclxxx. Sunken temple, character shading, fight between two women

      by , 05-07-2022 at 01:20 PM
      26th April 2022

      Fragment:

Something about WoW. I remember discussing Sunken Temple in chat and also being near the actual place.

      28th April 2022

      Fragment:

Something about drawing. I draw or notice in a character drawing, some different way of shading around the edges? (Wish I'd retained recall better)

      29th April 2022

      ~9:00
      Fragment:

(Left recall too long, about two hours from waking)

A dream bit where I'm either an observer or just watching in some sense. These two women are fighting each other, one of them is in her mid fourties or so and she's using a pole or something like one to attack the other woman. She has semi Asian features but would otherwise seem Caucasian, with a sort of gristly and greying black wavy hair.

The other woman is in her mid twenties or so. She's white, has straight black hair. The area is like some outdoor stone steps, cream colours, modern architectural feel.

As the two of them fight, the younger one starts growing, at first only her breasts but then all of her, proportionally. The older woman remarks cheekily on this and the growing younger woman complains that now she won't be able to go to the ball or gala (?) and in the end her breasts end up being smaller in proportion compared to how they were before the growth. She's also upset about the fact that she won't be able to get any clothes to fit her now.

(Dream went on, rest of recall was lost)

      Notes:

      - Mostly some notes for the last fragment: It is not too typical for me to be present in a dream only as an observer, though it does happen. In this case however, the relation between the dream characters seems like a dynamic that might happen between some of my characters like S and N, though with a detached relationship between each other in this case.

      - The older woman had more air of confidence to herself than the younger one did, and if anything the younger woman had more anger to her. This may be a reflection of what I've found through my own conscious and waking retrospection as I've gotten older.

      - In a sense, both women were the same woman. The older woman could be said to be an altered or warped version of the younger and what she lacked in drive she made up for in the self-confidence; this seems evident from how she made a cheeky remark when the younger woman started growing, rather than being intimidated by the fact. And likewise, the younger woman's angry drive became more of a hapless confusion as the situation changed unexpectedly, her concerns turning away from the immediate fighting (perhaps because the threat appeared diminished relative to her) and onto concerns about a unspecified future (the clothes, the ball/gala).

      - A side note here, S and N appeared as characters mostly through non-conscious manifestation, whilst their development became partly consciously adopted. So for me the relationship between these two women in this dream is of special interest because it happened entirely out of a non-conscious dynamic, which evolved on its own. I had no influence or interaction, I was simply an observer, which meant that their development was not influenced by my thought, because as the type of observer I was, I had no specific thoughts, perhaps because any part of me that was capable of thought and emotion was inhabiting the women, whilst the senses themselves were not removed from my point of view, as an observer.
    2. No Dream recall

      by , 02-01-2017 at 01:21 AM
My recall was horrible today. I've come to realize I've been caught up so much in my chaos that is life. Therefore, with the anniversary of my Lucid dreaming lifestyle approaching, I am going back to reinstate my everyday routines. I'm meditating with a jigsaw puzzle & implementing timers on my phone to help recondition my mind. As a side note this is the first time I've used my phone for the site & found it doesn't allow for color. So that's why I didn't color code.
    3. A Eureka Moment

      by , 03-27-2016 at 12:32 AM
I've been reading a lot about mnemonic memory techniques & came to the conclusion that for me I don't want a scripted list. Instead all throughout my day I look at things, especially ones with motion & say what color they are, what material it is made of & what motion it creates. Exp: Black fan, spins, has metal on it & then I visual the motion & possible other motions it stimulates in my brain.... WBTS method this morning & did not have a LD but I was thinking about my dream house & instead of dreaming about that I did dream of another house with many stairs & all of the ppl including myself had abilities & the colors & details of my dream were much sharper due to using my own technique.
    4. Dreams and thoughts

      by , 10-05-2014 at 04:44 AM (Delenn's dream journal)
I took last night "off" from attempting to remember my dreams and lucid dream. I don't think I sleep as well when I do that. I was headache-y and just not feeling good as a result. I did remember one dream from last night anyway--I dreamed I was a member of SG-1 (from the show "Stargate SG-1"). Sam Carter and Jack O'Neill were there. We were talking about getting the team back together. I'm excited about the idea, but say that I would need some training. I've been out of action for a while.

I was happy to get a good night's rest, though this came at the cost of dream progress. I'm not willing to sacrifice the quality of my sleep, at least on a constant basis. I'm also not willing to sleep much more than usual. I have a lot to do in waking life! I do not want to give up on lucid dreaming though, by any means.

I talked with my husband. Turns out he's actually a really talented lucid dreamer. (I'm not sure why we haven't talked about it before.) He suggested I get *really* specific about my dream goals. Instead of saying, "I want to say hello to someone", I should decide who I want to meet, where we're going to be, what clothes we will be wearing, etc. Every detail I can think of. He suggested I say "Hello" to Carl Sagan, and then ask him for his apple pie recipe!!! I love that man so much. (My husband. Oh, and Carl Sagan.)

I have tomorrow off, so I can sleep in. Time for some dreaming!
    5. Successful WILD #2

      by , 03-18-2013 at 04:56 PM
I may be zeroing in on an approach to WILD that works for me. I had my second successful WILD due to this approach. It uses a combination of a few established techniques that work synergistically to maximize chances of success:

      1) DEILD: before falling asleep at night, repeat mantra to wake up and not move, while visualizing the same.
      2) WBTB: Wake up after 6 hrs of sleep to use the restroom and have a drink.
      3) Anchor: Rapid cycles timed to the breath keep me awake.
      4) FFA: Forced falling asleep to sink deeper towards sleep

Last night I went to bed earlier than usual and as a result I woke up several times throughout the night. Every time I woke up I would perform a reality check and once I was certain it wasn't a false-awakening I would lie on my back and start cycles. The cycles are the same as the SSILD cycles (vision, then hearing, then physical body sensations) but each sense is only focused on for the duration of one breath. This gets you into a rhythm which eventually becomes automatic. At this point I would normally fall asleep since the automatic nature of the action would make me lose interest, until I discovered the adjustment outlined below:

      1) Start cycles with strong intent and focused attention. Every few cycles throw in FFA for two or three breaths, just to create a faster but controlled descent towards sleep.
      2) After a little while the cycles become easy to do and feel largely automatic.
      3) At this point switch your attention from the cycles to observing yourself doing the cycles. You are passively watching yourself doing the cycles and watching for the moment when your mind wanders. This is a subtle transition, if you don't understand this subtle difference in mental action this might not be for you.
      4) As you continue to do cycles you will feel your mind grow muddier and more confused, as you flirt with unconsciousness. This is a delicate balance. The only way to proceed here is to learn from failure. You need to get familiar with the very specific sensation of losing consciousness but retaining a tiny thread of awareness.

Getting back to last night, I noticed that as my mind drifted away visuals started to appear. If I "noticed" these visuals they would disappear again, because paying attention to them caused my mind to "wake up" slightly, setting back the process. When that happened I would just calmly resume drifting deeper, each time getting slightly deeper. Eventually I had a complete lapse in consciousness and when I came to I was walking down a green-carpeted hallway in an old apartment building. I immediately knew I was dreaming and started crawling around, feeling the floor and staring at the details to deepen the dream.

It turned into a nightmare after that, but because I was lucid I just observed the disturbing events without losing self-control or getting scared. It was unpleasant but definitely exciting and I do not regret having the experience.

I will continue to work with this method and if successful I will create a thread in the forum. I think my approach has some details that are missing from the other techniques posted there.

    6. 1st/First Lucidicidy*!

      IT HAPPENED!!!

After reading quite a bit of past experiences on DV and remembering some of the techniques used by fellow dreamers, I decided that I was tired of letting things be.

I tried the Repeating word technique* (I know there's another name but adding the word technique at the end of what you’re doing makes it sound cool

So any way, I'm getting ready for bed telling myself "I'm gonna wake up in my dream, I'm gonna wake up in my dream." I continue to say this while I'm lying down with my eyes closed and continue to say it until I stop I guess.

Next thing I remember is waking up and having to go to the bathroom and I do, except right in the middle of me going number one, like right in the middle of it, I wake up! Two things hit me 1) WTF!!! 2) I gotta take a leak.

While I'm taking a leak I'm thinking to myself. "I'm pretty sure I was dreaming the first time I did this." I have confirmed that this technique works. Before I even heard the term lucid dream I was using this technique to wake up at certain times in the morning. Having to be at work around 7am meant I had to wake up at 6am. So right before I went to sleep I would repeat the phrase, "I'm going to wake up at 6am." Sure enough without a hitch I wake up SECONDS before my alarm goes off.

Repeating what you want to dream about right before your sleep is a damn good beginner technique. LucidLegend Approved! ;D
    7. Introduction to my Dream Journal and my goals.

      by , 09-13-2012 at 07:33 AM (dolphin's dreams)
Welcome to my dream journal! I'm still relativily new to lucid dreaming. I've had some lucid dreams here and there by chance but nothing until recently purposely induced by any technique. My curiosity compelled me to surf the web and caused me to stumble upon this great site! I lurked around for a bit and tried some techniques to find something that worked. Trial and error caused me to discover a simple technique that made one of my first fully lucid dreams almost effortless! This success really motivated me and let me know that I can do this. So like many others, my goal is to master lucid dreaming.

My goal is to dream about whatever I want whenever I want. Whose isn't! After a bit of thought, acheiving this goal comes down to mastering two things...

Lucid Dream Induction Technique-to dream whenever I want
Dream Control- to dream whatever I want

Mastering my Lucid Dream Induction Technique
My new lucid dream induction technique inspired me on this quest to master lucid dreaming. My technique is simple. I simply think "I'm dreaming" as many times as possible as I'm falling asleep. When I enter a dream, the very first thing that comes to my mind is "I'm dreaming" which immediately causes me to become lucid. As of right now I've only tested this technique once. But, it worked so well that I feel it will be reliable in the long haul. If this technique ends up failing consistantly I'll have to find a new technique but I'm convinced the former will work. As I have tested this technique only once, it might evolve over time if I find ways to improve it.

Mastering my lucid dream induction technique and dreaming whenever I want means mastering these things...

      Technique Reliablity
How reliable the technique is. The success/fail ratio.
      Dream Recall
I know dream recall has nothing to do with my lucid dream induction technique but if I can't remember my dreams, I can't have any lucid dreams!

      Mastering Dream Control
To me to be able to dream whatever I want to me is the essence of dream control. My dream control as of right now is not too good and is the place I can most improve. After a bit of thought, mastering dream control consist of mastering the control these things
      Environment
The setting and all the important objects of the dream.
      Plot
The storyline of the dream and all the characters, including myself.
      Dream Quality
This is the quality of the vividness and the stabalization of the lucid dream.

Occasionally to see where I am I'll give myself a score on each category (1-5) to see where I am and where I can improve. When I give myself a 5 in all categories I'll have achieved my goal! Here are my initial scores
      Lucid Dream Induction Technique
      Technique Reliablilty-5
      Dream Recall-3
      Dream Control
      Environment-1
      Plot-2
      Dream Quality-4

In future journal entries I will only post lucid dreams and a bit of commentary when needed.

That's it for now, gotta go to sleep

      DILD into DEILD chain (~3)

      Recall: somewhat poor

This was my first time using a new flying technique and it worked pretty well. I used the magnet technique by focusing on a destination to take off, but after I was in the air, I switched to my own propulsion. I could feel myself being propelled from my thighs.

The dream started with me walking up a snowy hill in the forest. The snow was like a foot deep so the trek was difficult. After reaching the top, I somehow became lucid.

I wanted to work on my dream snowboarding. (many previous efforts have led to difficulty). I look around and find a snowboard bag. I unzip it and remove the board. I somehow attach the board to my feet relatively easy; I don't remember how exactly I strapped in. (Previous dreams have had strange contraptions to try and strap into.) It is a very shallow slope with a few rails. I decide me make a go for it and I line up my run. I board slide onto the first rail and then switch to a backside board slide. As the first rail is ending, I 360 onto the next one and then ride out the backside board slide cleanly. I was super pumped that I pulled off a sweet trick. I decide to try and do a back flip. There is no real lip to jump off of, and the slope doesn't allow for a lot of speed. Nonetheless, I went for it and hucked off a small roller...no dice. I guess it wasn't feasible enough for me to even imagine a flip. After 2 attempts I lose the dream.

      DEILD

This dream is all sexual. I think I am at some house party, and I find a babe named Lindsey; she is a brunette with a nice body. We fool around for awhile, and I lose the dream.

DEILD (from here on, I am not sure when I restart dreams with DEILD or when they just change scenes)

I think this one starts with Lindsey also. We fool around for a bit and then head outside. There is a car that I want parked out front. Some dude is sitting in there and I ask for it. He is resisting so I decide to try and convince him. I reach into my pocked and feel around for a the cool, metal butt of a gun. My pocked is surprisingly shallow and I can't find one. I can feel my hand be kind of wrapped in something. I pull that out, expecting a gun, and point it in his face. It is just my hand in a weird distorted position. I just pull him out of the car and get in with Lindsey. I get a little road head.

      DEILD (probably)

I am still outside of that house. I decide to work on my flying. I look up to the stars and pull myself toward them. On my way up, I remembered the platform technique where you imagine an invisible platform pushing you. I try that and can feel me being propelled from my feet. That soon moved up to my thighs and stayed there. I had good power and control through turns. I try to go to space, but it turns out the starts were just details on some roof. It felt kind of soft like felt. I turn back down and there is more trouble ahead...

Out of nowhere appears a HUGE robot. It looks kind of like a robotic version of of a person. It is very blocky and square, kind of like the old school optimus prime. Instead of a metallic face, it was just a giant blocky human face. I start flying laterally past him and looking for a way to take him out. I go for a kameyameyah, but it doesnt work. Out of ideas, I shoot myself towards his face and land a forceful punch right to his dome. He recoils from the hit. While he is in defensive mode, I pile it on. Another couple of hits and he cowers to the ground, incapacitated.

I most likely DEILD and have another sexual dream with my Lindsey.
