    1. The lucid dream that started it all..dun dun DUUUNN

      by , 08-06-2012 at 05:11 PM
just for fun sakes I'm going to share with yall's how I stumbled onto lucid dreaming, it was very bizarre and to this day I'm not sure how it happened but Im glad it did.

      When I was younger i remember 2 distinct dreams where i had brief moments of lucidity;
the first was a t-rex chasing me when i realized "hey! im dreaming it cant hurt me!" so i turned around to challenge the tiny-armed beast whom proceeded to take a giant chunk of my arm O_O I was stunned and woke up with my arm throbbing.

a few days later i was dreaming of being chased yet again by this sasquach thing, and had that thought again "hey! im dreaming, it cant hurt me!" and yet again i turned around to face my opponent and this time i got kicked in the stomach to wake out gasping for air....

years and years went by with no notable Lucid dreams until 2 years ago in summertime.
I had just gotten out of the shower and decided to take a nap on the couch in my bath robe, my eyes began to close and I drifted away and then this thought came into my head "i wonder if i can control my dream" ( I still have no idea where and why this thought came into my head, i had not read, watched, nor listened to anything that had to do with dreams and dream control)

I fell asleep immediately after and immediately woke up on my couch...fully clothed, and hair dried...I stood up and realized I had just woken up....in my FREAKING DREAM?! I stood up and cautiously walked down the stairs in my apartment hallway all-the-while thinking "i really hope im not sleepwalking right now.." i opened the door to the outside where my eyes were greeted with GINORMOUS gothic buildings across the street from me, they stretched up for hundreds of feet and were a dark stone color, it was astounding.

I continued to walk around baffled by everything, i wanted to look at every single leaf, pebble, and bug i came cross. the street was identical to mine with a few twists, i was walking in the middle of the road and people were looking at me as if i was well...walking in the middle of the road lol
I realized i could do anything so being....human. I decided to make a cute boy appear and try some dream kissin
oh he appeared all-right, I leaned in to kiss him and opened my eyes just a little to see that his face had...shifted....and he now ha a pig snout
I woke up flinging myself upright on the couch.

and that is how I got into the wonderful world of lucid dreaming

    2. The Three Cities

      by , 06-15-2012 at 12:57 PM
      First

I'm at a camping center with some friends. There are also children there. Outside there is a small cottage, very old with gray, slightly rotten wood. Some of the us sleep there and there is a stove. I guess I'm looking for something or cleaning, I'm going trough stuff there and putting them in their place. There is a stove and there's flames coming out of it every now and then. When I look around I see three other fireplaces that are leaking flames and smoke. I'm surprised the place hasn't burned down long ago.

      Second

I'm walking from the center of a city, down some stairs and towards another neighborhood. There is a Hindu monk riding a bike past me. He smiles and I recognize him and smile back. He is from a monastery where i sometimes go and have some philosophical talks or something. We happen to pass some Christian monks at the same time, carrying coffin. One of them reminisces about when they were a small order like the Hindus are now, and he had to carry coffins by himself up the stairs.

      Third

I'm at home in a room with my wife. My parents and brothers are in the living room watching TV. They are watching the lottery. My father gets excited and proclaims he has won 30 000. It's not the biggest price but it's pretty good. They start watching a movie. It's some scifi from a food author so we decide to watch it, too.

I'm in the movie, I'm a young man who lives alone but seems to be pretty sociable. It's a small settlement on an otherwise uninhabited planet. An old man has just died next door. Apparently everybody knew him, but they were all expecting him to die pretty soon anyway.

I'm walking with a bunch on guys close to the border of the settlement. We are wondering about the slow progress of the habitation endeavor. There's a lot of technology that should have arrived by this point. First we think we should investigate outside the settlement area. I tell the others it would be dangerous and there is some rule forbidding it. They abandon the idea and leave, and I go look outside the settlement alone.

There is another city just like ours. It's almost exactly the same but some of the people behave a little differently. A woman who is shy in my city is very loud and talkative in this one. The old man has just died here, too. I continue to the same direction and come to a third city, also identical. But here, the old man is still alive, but just about to die. People are gathered to a center square to see him for the last time.

Then I remember the story, I've read the book the movie is based on. The cities are actually on a planet that is completely livable. They are there for studying how much of peoples personalities are coded in genes. The people in the three cities are genetically identical, but they have been incubated in different laboratories.
    3. Musical Influences

      by , 12-28-2011 at 10:37 AM (Am I Awake?)
So, I downloaded a 45-minute MP3 of some ambient music created supposedly to help you achieve lucidity while dreaming. While it didn't exactly work in the sense you'd think, it did make my dream(s) last night wildly vivid, all based on a mistake on my part.

When I started playing the track, I put it on loop, thinking it would just play over and over again until I stopped it. What I actually did was instead of putting the one track on loop, I put the entire alphabet on loop, so after the MP3 (which I so cleverly named 'Lucid.mp3') was finished, it didn't replay; it kept playing the letter 'L' on my Zune's library. Interesting stuff happened.

I'll now proceed to name the songs that played, and what I dreamed during them.

Lucky Ball and Chain - They Might Be Giants
Iy you are familiar with TMBG, you'll know they're pretty out there to begin with. This song has a very bizarre accordion-type almost country sound to it. In my dream, I was in an RV trailer, and it very very blue outside. Dark, but calm; like I was supposed to be sleeping, but woke up too early and got to see the night transition into dawn. Suddenly, outside, there were three blonde girls, wearing pink dresses, playing Ring-Around-the-Rosie, and... that was it.

Lucy In the Sky with Diamond - The Beatles
Holy goodness, guys. My dream matched with the lyrics, exactly. I mean, I was floating down a rainbow river on a boat made of some kind of green glass, and there were beautiful yellow flowers everywhere. Crystals (the kind you see in Final Fantasy, for any gamers out there) were rotating everywhere, and it was gorgeous. Then, I saw the three blonde girls again, only they were holding hands and flying around. They landing on another boat, and we sailed off together through the river and eventually into the ocean.

      M.M.I.X - Coldplay
This isn't really a song, so much as a transition to another song on their album, but it's a separate track. It's about a minute of some very ambient, fading-in noise. I don't remember the dream, but I do remember still being in the boat from Lucy, and hearing it. Then...

Magical Mystery Tour - The Beatles
Gosh, the Beatles while dreaming is... maybe the best thing ever. I was still in the boat from before, only everything was a lot faster and more whimsical. I liken it to an animated Dr. Suess movie. It was so happy and colorful. Those three blonde girls were still in the seperate boat, only now they were accompanied by a scruffy old blue man, with a white beard, who was now captaining the ship. He winked at me, and we all continued to sail down the river.

      Magnificent - U2
As soon as the strange guitar sound of this song began to fade in, my boat (and the other boat) began disappearing. We suddenly were falling into the ocean, and drifting downward, but at the bottom, there was a glowing yellow bubble. It looked like the underwater Naboo city where Jar Jar Binks is from in the Phantom Menace movie. (I feel ashamed admitting I was that easily able to identify it. ) But, once I was absorbed into the bubble city, there were automatons dancing everywhere and clapping rhythmically. They wanted me to join, and it looked like fun, but I tried explaining to them that I didn't like U2. They kept dancing and I tried to find a way out.

Maintain Consciousness - Relient K (Ironic, huh? Consciousness?)
It was at this point I think I began waning out of the dream state noticing I was actually just listening to music in my bed. My mind kept flipping back and forth between 'How do I get out of this underwater city?' and 'I need to take these dang headphones out and go to sleep...' (Guess which one was more fun? )

I eventually got lost back in the dream world, though, and another song started playing.

      Major Minus - Coldplay
This was probably the freakiest of all the song-dreams I had. It was also the first not directly related to the last. I was standing in a pink and orange cloud, and there before me was the the unfinished pyramid on the back of the American dollar bill. At the top was the All-Seeing eye, staring at me. The lyrics of the song probably had something to do with that. ("We got one eye watching you, And one eye on what to do, So be careful who it is you're talking to...")

I started running away from the pyramid, but every way I went, it was there, staring at me. Then, four or five radio towers sprung up from the ground like plants, and at the top, there were French soldiers holding muskets. They all took aim at me, and it was frightening, that I dropped through the cloud and felt like I was falling forever.

Making Things Up Again - The Book of Mormon Musical
It was at this point I realized it was all a dream, and I laughed at the song until it was finished, and took my headphones out, and went to sleep.

Anyway, that was my experience. I love the idea of being able to basically plan out a dream by the music you listen to. I need to make a playlist of trippy Beatles songs to listen to while dreaming, now. Oh man. SO fun.

      Just not 'Revolution 9.' I don't need nightmares. x]

    4. New Journal

      by , 06-04-2011 at 07:03 PM
Bought myself a nice new leather-bound journal a while back to write my dreams in. Here are the first few entries:

      1. (5/9/11) I remember taking a test and thinking that it didn't apply to me.

      2. (5/10/11) Had a New York City dream. On the bus somewhere, I was hearing this announcement over a PA system about tennis rackets. We stopped at a Walmart for food. I feel like it was morning so the stop was for breakfast. I remember Julie telling this story to the people who decided to stay on the bus when we stopped. She said that she and her family were all coming back from a trip when they were in Dundee. They all got sick outside of this gas station and as an apology, her dad bought the biggest mushroom the store had. It was slightly larger than a basketball. They took it home, cut it into people shapes and put the little mushroom people on their Christmas tree. Julie's story was the end of the dream.

      3. (5/11/11) I remember Eric getting on the microphone at DJ trivia and announcing something.

      4. (5/12/11) Two fragments:
      • Took place at a house in the country and I feel like it had something to do with senior ball, or what went afterwards.
      • Me in the car with my dream-mother talking about something hilarious. I know that this dream was video-game-based and it took place immediately before I woke up.

      5. (5/14/11) Dreamed I was in TWO three-day comas. both from car accidents. Wrecked the truck, then the Honda.
    5. Trying to belong

      by , 04-03-2011 at 09:56 AM

There once was a girl who lived in a small town. She was sad because she didn't have any friends. Her mother told her that she had to come home directly after school and she wasn't allowed to play with the other kids. Then one day she said “tomorrow you can play with the other kids as long as you are careful.”

The next day the girl started playing with the other kids. They rode on their bikes and had fun, but the girl still didn't feel like she belonged. The others told her that if she wanted to truly belong to the group she had to help them with something.

In that town most of the people were poor, but there was one boy who was rich. His father was a doctor or something and he always had much better toys and clothes than the other kids. Because of that everyone hated him and the kids liked playing tricks on him. Now they'd figured out a new way to mess with him. They stole a wallet, some jewelery or something similar and blamed it on the boy. The only problem was that no one would believe that the boy had really done it. That's why they needed the girl's help. The adults would believe whatever she said.

So in the end she stood in front of the policeman and had to choose whose side she was really on. On the one hand the boy was probably really nice once you got to know him, but if she didn't lie she'd be alone again, so she did as the kids had asked.

    6. My first lucid dream.

      by , 02-26-2011 at 05:30 PM
So I've been trying to lucid dream ever since I saw the movie inception, which was about a month ago. I'm too lazy to write in a dream journal everyday so I just thought about my dreams after I woke up, and later I drew an A on my hand which stood for awake.
Two weeks later I was having a dream that was particularly unrealistic and I was falling off of a cliff. I realized that I was dreaming and before I hit the ground I woke up. That motivated me even more to start thinking about lucid dreaming right before I went to bed. So last night I went to bed thinking about being lucid dreaming. In my dream which was very vivid I was in a bright red room with some of my friends. I was talking with a friend saying that we should hang out again when I realized that I was dreaming. I was so stoked that I started jumping up and down exclaiming 'I'm lucid, I'm lucid!". My friends didn't know what I was talking about so I demonstrated that walk around freely. They were still skeptical, but I was too excited to care. I immediately flew right through the ceiling and the roof by doing an upward breastroke sort of thing. I looked down and continued to fly, I was very high up and thats when I think the adrenaline woke me up.

    7. Crossroads of California Love

      by , 01-26-2011 at 09:29 PM
This dream wasn't all that long, and I believe I'm missing some parts, but its starts off with these two people on the street, one a girl and one a guy and they seem to be doing some kind of musical performance. The girl was dancing with what looked like a tambourine and the guy looked like he had a ukulele. Anyways after a scan of what looked like an old downtown area, we see a corner sign that says California love. There is a pan of the sky when we go back to what looks like a group research or education facility.

Sitting on a fence or a tree is a girl and a guy and the people around the camp are talking about working on California and love in the city where some mysterious people are granting gifts to certain families. Everyone in this camp is working to be one of those groups of people who get the mysterious gifts, but only those who have great success or a strong bond can get it.

The people talk about going to some kind of event and the girl and the guy who are sitting on the tree suddenly become very quiet. I ask them what's going on and they say that they can't go. When I ask why, the girl says she has no one who cares about her. I am confused so I talk to the guy next to her and he says that even know the girl next to him is great, he is not who I think he is, and will not be there much longer.

Him and the girl get off the tree and when I turn around for a second, the girl bends down and kisses the man on the cheek. The guy turns into the size of a ken doll, crawls up her arm and starts kicking his feet while looking around. Startled I pull out my camera phone and try to take a picture. I look through the lens, and the doll sized man is invisible, when I take the camera off of them the doll sized man is still there, and then he hops away.

      "He's gone." the girl says.

I ask the girl if she's okay, and she smiles. Some people still in the camp are saying how strange that person was to be talking to her self, and I ask them if they saw that man who was with her earlier. They say that they saw one person but he disappeared and she was still talking. They also said that that person only shows up on certain occasions, usually when someone is feeling really lonely and had something happen to them. They said that certain business positions required a partner, and that the one she had been in for the past month was that kind of position.

The couples also talked about a man who shows up when needed and turns into a doll later on. They say it's some kind of dreamer's luck. The couples I was talking to left for the city and a girl with blonde hair and a maroon jacket asked me if I was going to the bar/boutique that everyone was talking about. I am a little unsure about the location and they told to follow the lights. I tell them Ill join shortly but I want to talk to the other girl first.

When I turned around to see the girl from before, I saw her with a sandy haired man with glasses, and The girl who asked me about the bar boutique gazed longingly at the field of golden grass. Extreme pain, hope, love and loneliness exuded from her aura.

She said something about wanting a partner, and I tried to talk to her, but some laughter stopped me. When I looked, I saw the girl had looked as well, and there was a young child climbing up the hill.On her shoulder was the doll sized man I had talked to earlier, but he looked like an actual doll rather then a person, and a look alike fell by the water side. The kid ran away and the doll sized man winked and hopped towards the girl with the blonde hair. She was thrilled, and I looked on dumbfounded.

I then left the facility and came to an area where there were brick houses with black stairwells and laundry hanging in the air. I saw some people I recognized from the facility gloating over some flowers and drinks in one part of the city, but I walked on until I reached a wooden building with metal stairs and some music playing in the lobby. I walked into what looked like a old style saloon and looked at the wall of pictures in the back. Some were drawings, some were photographs, but all were young kids, couples, or men, and all were wearing old school outfits like from the late 19th century.

Curious I saw one picture of a blonde woman with a maroon jacket, and when I looked at myself, and the woman in the picture I was awestruck. I touched the picture and felt a zap go through my finger tips. It was me, or someone who was related to me, and close by the touch of it, and for whatever reason I couldn't believe I was on that wall. I felt a cool breeze go through the back door, and when I turned around a saw a small man with a black hat and an iron tray with tea and turkey.

"My lady," he said, and I blinked and pointed towards myself.

"Me?" I asked and the small man nodded his head before placing the tray a small table.

"Dinner is served," and he left the dining room.

I took a sip of the tea and was about to bite into the turkey when I heard something outside. When I went there I saw flowers scattered about next to my building, and heard some ruckus from down below. The stranger had made an appearance and he was headed our way. I saw flowers appearing at various houses, and an energy of mystery and excitement filled the area. I tried to go downstairs, but before I could the scene changed and I was in the kitchen. There were some people on the couch in the living room, but I couldn't see any details, as they were just some silhouette's with the TV on. I went to join them with a paper plate, but before I got very far the lights went on, and the living room disappeared.

I turned around to see some flowers on the floor in the kitchen,as well as golden tambourine/ hand drum. When I went to investigate, a gloved hand picked up the instrument and handed it to me.

"Your turn" he said, and my eyes traveled up his torso, however, before I could see his face the scene disappeared and I was on the corner of California and love with a tambourine in my hand. I had a companion with me, and when I looked up I saw a dark haired man with a white shirt and black jacket. With a small instrument case in his hand, he leaned towards me, but before I could see his face, I woke up.

    8. The First

by , 08-24-2010 at 06:22 AM (Dreams I can Only Dream.)
      Date: Aug.22/23 Sunday
      Time: around 8:40 am

Description: To start off I want to explain something. I had this as my very 1st lucid dream to date that I can remember. I had another more lucid one right after this with more details and events and more control, but I will post that at a future time. Most of this is straight out of my dream journal by my bed. I also apologize if it doesn't seem like there weren't many details, the dream really only lasted about 1 minute.

Dream: The dream starts off with me looking at a stack of ps3 games and on top of them are ps2 games, I can't remember any of the titles but I think the very top ps2 game was NHL 2003. As I look at the stack I rotate them to see their spines. The games are sitting on my wooden brown desk at the center. I am sitting on my knees on the ground, and I notice my nephew on my computer struggling to play the ps2 games (pcsx2 for anyone that knows the program). So I tell him to move over so I can go to set it up. He gives me this look of frustration as he looks at the clock in my room, which I think (he never tells me, but I assume) that he has to go soon, that him and his dad are leaving. I tell him "Chill dude, it takes an hour to setup anyways." As I look at the screen and see some text, the text onscreen seem to shift and shake (that could of been my eyes, kind of like the shaky vision you get from drinking to much alcohol) and strange runic symbols appear. At that precise moment I yell out "HOLY CRAP, I AM DREAMING!" My stomach goes to butterflies and I get really excited. I fall backwards, and the scene starts to zoom out, I get the feeling you get when going down hills on a roller coaster, and now I am in a black void so to speak, I instantly remember the spinning technique that Laberge created. To re stabilize the dream, it works for a moment as I zoom back into the dream, I notice someone was sitting to my right, the lights were off and the glow of the computer screen was the only light source, I don't know who this third person was, my suspect is my nephews younger brother. I don't know. Now I zoom back out as soon as I touch down in the scene again but I kinda of lose consciousness so to speak. Now I imagine myself spinning, now a new seen appears where I am high above a city with lots of buildings, they all have a purple glow about them, I can tell it is night time, cause I see the windows have lights coming from out them. I am above the city, but again lose consciousness again (I mean everything turns pitch black) and I shoot out of my real bed, it takes me a moment to collect myself as this was the most intense thing of my life.

Other details: One extra detail I need to say, is once I went lucid, the feeling of being there was so real, except for it feeling like my body was kind of heavy or light, gravity on me seemed way different.

So there it is, I hope you guys have comments, I am interested in what you have to say about the experience, and it was an experience cause I really was there, it wasn't a memory of a dream, I was there!
