    1. Pretty Sure Assassin's Creed Doesn't Go Like This

      by , 02-09-2011 at 02:15 AM
I'm playing a very odd game. It starts out as some sort of text-parser where you type in a command and a nondescript character does it. The catch is you have to find commands that won't kill him, since some very innocuous phrases turn out to be dangerous. Then I get an expansion pack for the game, and suddenly it's not a text-parser anymore and the perspective has switched to first-person. The theme and character design is very heavily Assassin's Creed-based, and the action is a mix of that and Sly Cooper, as there's less hiding-in-plain-sight and more acrobatics and just-plain-hiding. Also, more stealing.

The first setting is a town, and I sneak into someone's kitchen. I tiptoe on top of cabinets and refrigerators. The objective is to get a box of butter, because then splotches of butter and sauce will show up everywhere in that town, showing me where I can do extra stealth-acrobatics moves without getting caught (sort of taking the place of sparkles in the Sly games, or the pigeons in AC). Other settings include France and a desert, and the Assassins' Bureau locations are, for some reason, spaceships that provide transportation between the levels. Each time, I have to find the butter-boxes in order to make the new map areas stealth-friendly.

Of course, I keep getting caught, and at some point I end up quitting the game.

      Fragment One

I was Batman, and was using stealth to get around the inside of some building. I believe it was something like a community center, because I remember it having a game room. I don't really recall what I was doing there, but I think I might have gotten spotted once or twice. Don't remember much from this dream at all.

      Fragment Two
I had a job interview, and was told that I had to wait for other candidates to have their interviews, before I would be told whether or not I got the job. I ended up coming back, much later in the day, after most everyone was gone. I can't remember the reason, but I think I had to change clothes or something. There was no one around, and I took off my shirt and was either turning it inside out or putting another one on or something. I remember that someone had been playing Modern Warfare on a computer that was in the room, and it was still left running. Finally, I left the building, and was still trying to get my arms in the sleeves of my shirt. I saw LQ walking through the parking lot, who was a friend that I had a huge crush on, once upon a time. I was pretty sure she saw me, but that she might not have noticed, because she didn't say anything. Slightly embarrassed by still only being partially dressed, I tried to stay out of her sight, just in case she really hadn't noticed.

      That's all I remember.

      Mission Accomplished: Corporate Complex Breakout

I was undercover, yet I had been walking along the streets, talking to various people, keeping tabs. I turned around the corner, and there is a man from somewhere that I recognized. I knew that this man was trouble… and "a total fucking douche bag." (very specific memory of this). He was an enemy agent

I turned around and started going the other way, but his partner was around the corner, resting on a motorcycle. Fight or Flight set in, and I decided to both. I ran across the street to a small work site, that was littered with piles of lumber, concrete, rebar and other various debris. I grabbed a big rod of rebar, and I heard a dream character yell out some advice, and told me that it was probably the best idea to get rid off the asshole on the bike.

I was already on the same train of thought as I go back into the middle of the street, and welcome the men to fight. In the middle of the street, the cyclist was circling me, and I tried a few times to shove the rod into the front tire, so that that it would get caught and flip the motorcycle, but I failed. However, after a little bit, he dejectedly left… and I moved on to the mission I was supposed to carry out.

I didn't see either of the enemy agents nearby, so I ran across the street and into a corporate complex. My mission was to break somebody OUT of the large and epic complex. I made my way, undetected, though the ducts of the building. The strange thing about this complex was that in a section, they kept and maintained holding cells, like a mini jail. I sneaked into an empty holding and I pretended to be a prisoner, just long enough to construct something, or do something.

The cell was actually unlocked the entire time, it was just merely the illusion that I was an inmate. The reason I was in the cell was because down the hall, directly across from my cell was another cell, one with someone actually in it. I monitored the inmate.

After a little bit, I left the cell through the unlocked door, and went down the hall. I picked up what I thought be a large wooden rod, as well as a nice little dagger or knife, ‘just in case.’ I had no real intention to use the knife. I went down another hall to where my destination was, an office room

In the corner was a desk with an older man with white hair and a white mustache sitting behind it. I ran up as quickly as possible wielding the wooden rod, and swung it hard over my head, and brought it down on the man’s head, trying to knock him out. The wood splintered, thin and weak, and had absolutely no effect on the old man. I swung again, but to no avail… and he called out to the guards for help.

Panicking, I pulled the dagger out and stabbed the man once in the chest… but I felt guilty about it, so I didn’t plunge it any more to ‘finish’ the job. The problem was that I stabbed him when I was in view of the guards that were approaching, so my cover had been blown.

I ran like a bat out of hell, and somehow, the person I was there to rescue or recover was with me, running with me. We outran the guards and made it out of the complex, with the guards in tow, but further behind. Out in the street I pointed to work site across the road.

Suddenly we had hardhats and bright orange vests, as we ran to a car similar to the PG& E Service Truck, with the elevated box is lifted to high places, like a telephone pole.

We climbed up the arm and into into the box, and got into character as if we’ve been working the site the whole time.

From above we saw the guards and men spill out into the street, looking around. They ran through the work site, and directly underneath the two of ‘us’ who were completely incognito… and we ‘won’ and escaped.

    4. 11/20/2010 - "I Am Batman"

      "I Am Batman"

As you might have guessed, I was Batman, in this dream.
The first thing I remember was sneaking across a dark road, at night, out in the middle of nowhere. There was a large compound, surrounded by a fence, on the other side of this road, and I knew that it was the hideout of a gang of thugs. (I have to start noticing these criminal HQs as dream signs. They have been showing up a lot, lately.) Hoping over the fence, I came upon a parking area, moving swiftly between the cars and keeping my head down, trying to stay to the shadows. There were apparently hundreds of people here, though, and some of them were still coming and going. I could not help being caught in a few headlights, while moving from place to place, but no one who saw me really seemed alarmed - at least, at first. One of the cars sped passed me, missing me by inches. Tracking it with my eyes, I saw the car turn around and come back to make a second attempt to hit me. Again, I dodged at the last second, slinging my fist out and smashing it through the driver's side window, punching the guy in the face. Having shattered his face with the heavy blow, I reached in and grabbed the man, interrogating him and getting information about the people inside.

I was now in the base. It was basically a slum within a large, industrial building; drugs; goons; women; small, ratty apartments; etc. I knew that I was vastly out-numbered, though, so I relied mainly on stealth. Even though the compound was pretty well-lit, and I didn't have many shadows to work with, I used any nooks and crannies I could find, to stay hidden as I moved from room to room. I had the infamous utility belt, with a seemingly endless array of non-lethal weapons, which I used to subdue key criminals and gather information. One of these detainees was a monk of some sort. He was the one that gave me the most information about the organization, and revealed it to be - at its core - some type of cult. He took me to a room where, on a stone wall, I saw something written in what looked like blood. It said something about the coming return of Quetzalcoatl, and that being the whole reason for the cult's existence. It was around here, that I realized I was dreaming. I was still in the Batsuit, and it felt amazing. Enjoying the scenario way too much, I hid the monk in a bathroom, but I couldn't find a pair of cuffs or anything, on my belt (surprisingly), to lock him down. Since I knew I was dreaming, I tried to create a pair, between the man's arm and a steel bar. I could almost see it flicker into solidity, but it just would not make that transition into a tangible object.

Not really wanting to waste too much time on it, I just left the man unchained, and went on about my search for more information. I continued slinking through the hallways, like only Batman could, and it was so much more than just doing an 'impression' of him. I felt like I was him, yet still very conscious of the fact that I wasn't. Interesting feeling, and I was enjoying every minute of it. I came upon a room with two thugs inside, and felt like I could use a quick scrap. They were both sitting in chairs, near each other. I could tell that one of them was much bigger than the other. Knowing that there were two of them, I decided to rush them and take them by surprise. I burst into the room (which wasn't much bigger than the three of us), and sucker punched the smaller guy, laying him out, slumped down into the chair. Immediately, I turned to the left, about to attack the other guy, before he got out of his chair. But that's when I noticed how big this guy was. He hadn't even flinched. He just sat there, within my arm's reach, glaring at me. Slowly, calmly, he stood up. This dude was some 7 feet tall, and like 300lbs of muscle. I felt like a kid, compared to him. And I could tell, by his demeanor, that he and I were on the same page.

Unfortunately, I don't remember too much of our fight. Just a myriad of punches and dodges. I do remember, at one point, he hit me with a punch to the gut that would have crippled a rhinoceros. I actually felt the armored padding in the suit soften the blow - even though, before that point, I hadn't really thought about how thick it was. (I love that the subconscious just fills in these little details, on its own. Always amazes me.) By this time, I was just having the time of my life, being Batman. I was taunting one of the goons and even threw on an imitation of his voice, from Batman: the Animated Series (which is about my favorite incarnation of Batman), and I actually surprised myself at how much I sounded like him. Can't remember what I said, though. Also, while navigating the maze of hallways, I was just kind of "creating" which weapons I would need, from my utility belt. Anything that fit my situation, at the time, I would find. This part of the dream seemed like it lasted a good little while, but I can only recall certain, blurry, flashes of images.

Finally, I made it to the quarters of the compound's leader. He was a young, Spanish dude that kind of reminded me of that crazy muhfucka Peoples Hernandez, from the Shaft movie. It was just he and I, standing in a service area, surrounded by steel pipes and concrete - metal grates and steps. I actually saw something of a HUD come up, in my field of view, as if this were a boss fight in some video game. There was a reticle "on-screen", that showed stats and everything, as we fought. It was an awesome hand-to-hand fight, but I don't really remember too many of the details of it.

(Also, THIS has been my desktop, for the past few weeks, so I'm not surprised about having another Batman dream. Haha.)

      Stealth:
I was in Paris and I was walking along the street during the day. I wanted to turn left but my dad wanted to turn right. Dream skips and I'm doing something I can't recall. Dream skips again and it's night time. I have a tank that a friend gave me that I wanted to sell. I was on a bridge overlooking what was supposed to be an airport. There were no planes, just what looked like a hanger and it was pitch dark. I snuck in to find a buyer but no dice, instead, I saw a general and one of his soldiers. I ran away and tried to hide. They saw the tank and understood the situation. I started praying to avoid them seeing me, maybe as a means of "he's busy, couldn't have been him". I ended up seeing some message that was "9 'heart' s 'heart' g" where the heart was replaced by its symbol.

Thoughts: Interesting enough, I don't recall much about the tank and how it looked. Wonder what the message is supposed to mean.
