I had a dream last night that I was volunteering at a downtown festival in the city where I live. Unlike the dreams I had the night before, this was not the fall festival that I help to put on. I think this was some type of music festival. I know I was just a volunteer doing what I was asked to do rather than helping to run the event like I do for the fall festival. This dream took place in a time where we were not dealing with COVID and things like masking and social distancing. The time this dream was set in seemed more normal. When the dream started, me and my girlfriend were checking in at volunteer registration. We each got a yellow shirt that we changed into and a drawstring bag with some other goodies. My girlfriend had signed-up to help in the Kid Zone and not long after we had registered, some came to her and offered to give her a ride to the Kid Zone in her golf cart. I told her I would try to stop by and check on her when I had a break later on. She picked up her phone and pointed to it with her other hand which I knew meant for me to stay in touch by texting her periodically. As my girlfriend was being driven away, the girl that had checked us in came up to me and asked if I would be willing to help with getting some sand bags. When I hesitated, she told me they were not that heavy and they just needed someone to ride over to a warehouse and help load them on the truck. When I told her that was fine, she pointed to an old While GMC Half Ton truck parked nearby and told me to go on out to it and that Kim would be there soon and would drive it and tell me what I needed to do. She said when I got back and got the sandbags unloaded to see her at they would probably be ready to have my start checking ID’s then. I thanked her and then walked towards the truck. It was the same truck that I had in my last dream the night before. An old truck the city owns and loans every year during the fall festival. I have both driven and ridden in it may times. When I got to the truck and opened the passenger side door, the interior was just like the truck that they loan us for the fall festival. It had a well worn brown vinyl bench seat and dash with brown carpet on the floor with a stick shift in the middle. I went ahead and got in the passenger seat of the truck and closed the door. Since it was a nice day, I immediately rolled down my window to let some fresh air into the cab. I started looking around to see if I could figure out who Kim was and wondered how much longer until he would get here and we could go to get the sandbags. After a few minutes, a chucky girl with shoulder length dark blonde hair wearing a yellow volunteer shirt showed-up at the window and asked me if I was Kim. I told her I was not but was waiting for him. She asked if I was helping with getting sandbags and when I said yes, she said she had been asked to help too. She then opened the passenger side door and kind of blushed and said she kind of hated to ask, but would I be willing to scoot over. I went ahead and moved on over to the middle and let her have the window since I figured since she may not feel comfortable riding between two older men she didn’t know. While we waiting in the truck for Kim, the girl and I talked. She told me her name was Tiffany and she was 21 and wrapping up her junior year of college. Like me, she had never volunteered at this event before, but needed some community service hours and though this would be a good way to earn some while also getting to enjoy some music. While Tiffany and I continued to carry on a conversation while we waited in the truck for Kim, a big lady with shoulder length bleached blond hair and a blue shirt who I had kept seeing walking around with a clipboard approached the passenger side window to talk to Tiffany and I. She asked us if we were the ones helping with sandbags and we both said yes. She told us she was Kim and thanked us for helping her. She told us she had a few more things she had to get sorted out and then she would be ready to drive us to get the sandbags. I asked her if there was anything I could help her with and she said for us to just both sit tight so we would be ready to go as soon as she got done. As Kim walked away, both Tiffany and I were looking at each other with a WTF type of look. We had both expected Kim to be a fit man, not an out of shape looking lady in her late 40’s or early 50’s. We both thought she seemed a little scatterbrained and we both commented to each other about it was we saw her walking around like a headless chicken. After seeing Kim walk around and talk to different people for a while longer, I saw her coming towards us with some bottled water and granola bars. She reached through the window and handed them to me and Tiffany and then told us she needed to get the truck keys and would be right back out. While I was sipping on the bottle of water, I saw Kim walking in front of the truck and then opening the driver side door and sitting down on my other side. The truck cab was big enough that I had plenty of room and personal space even though Kim was big and Tiffany was a few pounds over wight. After spending a minute or two playing with the key, the accelerator, and the stick shift between my legs Kim and the old truck running and we were on our way to the warehouse. One the drive to the warehouse, Kim would start a conversation with me and Tiffany and then her phone would ring and she would take the call. It was kind of scary riding in the truck because Kim would get distracted while on the phone and would start drifting into other lanes. A few times, other vehicles had to honk at her to get her attention. I was glad when we finally got there. Once Kim had to truck backed up to the loading dock, we all got out and then Kim fished for some keys and opened a bay door to the storage bay where all of the sandbags were. At first, she helped me and Tiffany move them to the truck, but then her phone rang and she walked away to take the call while me and Tiffany moved most of the sandbags to the truck without her help. Eventually, Kim walked over to us and told us we had loaded enough sandbags and for us to get back to the truck. When we got to the passenger side door, I opened it up and stood aside hoping Tiffany would get the hint and ride in the middle going back. Her face blushed again and she asked if I minded. I go ahead and get in the middle and give Tiffany the window seat away from Kim. After she is in and closes her door, she blushes again and says thank you to me. I can see Kim is still pacing around in the parking lot talking on her phone. Tiffany and I are both looking at each other in disbelief of how disorganized and scatterbrained Kim is. We both dread the drive back knowing it could get dicey if she is taking on her phone again. Eventually, Kim stops talking on her phone and closes up the warehouse and then comes back to the truck. After she has climbed into the driver seat, her phone starts ringing again and she looks at it and then asks us to excuse her as she get out of the truck to take the call and pace around the parking lot. Tiffany and I both just look at each other in disbelief when she does this to us. Eventually, Kim gets off the phone and back in the truck. As she is putting the key in the ignition, she tells us we need to run out to the airport so she can pick some things up. As she turns the key to start-up the truck, I am dreading the thought of having to ride on the interstate with Kim driving that truck. I look over at Tiffany and she has the same look of fear on her face. When I look back over at Kim, I notice she is having trouble getting the truck starting. Nothing is happening when she turns the key and pumps the accelerator. The only noise that is happening is an annoying buzzing sound. After a little longer of watching Kim try to get the truck started, I am woken-up from the dream by the buzzing of my alarm clock which I expect was causing the buzzing sound in the dream.
I remember I was on vacation and I came back to this hotel. Very vivid and semi-lucid. I lose lucidity and come back to the very orange hotel with one of the capacious foyers visible from space that recur in my dreams. Nevertheless I show up and my $200 room is 12 square feet. I'm calling the cops on these assholes now because I am angry, but feel calm (dream emotion?) I just leave and stop at a different hotel. It's surrounded by trees. The road pattern is similar to the development I live near. The second building came right out of SC 2013. I walk in and go to the elevator, but my luggage is missing. I have to go back to floor one. That is very unpleasant. I am on floor 64 and the time the elevator moves is always the same. At this height, the elevator might as well be free-falling downward. It's slightly painful when I "land", (at least the dream is vivid, I guess). With that bad memory, I leave. Skating down, the neighbourhood, I fall after a complex series of tricks. I'm on a bike, running from a blob eating away from existence behind me Now I'm in a car driving away from a wall killing everything and moving along the road. Now it's a twisted BMW commercial where the driver needn't worry while carnage and screams of horror are emitted behind him. I point out eventually he'll die too. I go to a third hotel, somewhere where I won't be scammed. You have to climb scaffolding not very sturdy, but it's a nice room. Yet again, it's the foyer that seals the deal. It's like they care more about attracting than returning customers. Everything's white or wooden brown. Not Mirror's edge white, a wood paint white easier on the eye. There are tables for a buffet and obligatory steak joint. New dream exposition. I visited a relative and I'm leaving now. I feel oddly satisfied.
I was in our hometown. Was talking to Chona. Then I had to walk. I was in our plaza. Or outside our plaza. I saw the wi-fi guy fixing some wires. I asked when the internet will be back. He said probably later or tomorrow. I complained because I couldn't work overtime. I sat at the stairs, and he accidentally stepped on my fingers, although it seemed as though I was too far for him to step on. I asked then how we can set up my laptop for it to work on the new wi-fi. We checked and it asked for I password. I told him I don't put in any password. I thought I should have, but I also wondered why a network I don't put password in would ask for it. I went home, and a friend was there. At first it was Donnie. Then it was Christian F. We were supposed to set up the wi-fi. But for some reason I brought my laptop, its wires, and a small fan, over to another place. Then I forgot to tell them I can't go "there." I was thinking of asking Christian if he's still around. They must have waited for me, and I felt bad. Around this time, Chona texted she's coming back, and asked if I wanted her to bring something back. I thought of sweet rolls, but I was so scatter-brained I forgot to text back. ---- NOTE: was able to hear the Affirmation when I woke up, although I almost forgot the dream.
