April 15, 2011 Lucid Dream 218: Wandering Samurai Series: Fearless, Episode 5 DEILD ....after a few brief moments, I woke and entered right back into the dream state. I stood up and noticed I was standing on a a narrow stretch of a beach. There were hotels on my immediate right and only seemed to be about 20 feet away. The water on my left was also about 20 feet away. I slowly walked down the beach and took in the scenery as I gave the dream time to establish itself (settle in). For some reason, the way I was walking reminded me of Rurouni Kenshin. I decided to act as if I were a samurai. I attempted to summon a sword, but I only could make the hilt appear. I held on to it and acted as if it were a full sword. I began slicing through clothes lines and other object as I walked around the buildings (which were now on the sand and water line). Moments later, I noticed I was now holding a long sword. I reached into my pocket and felt around until I found what I was looking for. I pulled out a dagger. Now fully equipped I just wandered around the beach area looking for something interesting. I got a sense that someone was following me. I looked over my shoulder and saw a ninja decked out in all black. The ninja saw me looking at him and pretended to be admiring a nearby bush. I laughed at his attempt to play off the fact he was following me (especially since he was a decked out ninja ). I walked slowly and could feel that he had gotten close to me. I spun around quickly and stuck my sword up to his throat in an instant. I noticed that it wasn't the ninja at all. It was now an old lady and she looked terrified. I let her go and told her to never walk up behind a samurai again. I could see several ninjas in the background walking in my direction. I turned and jumped up on the roof of the nearest building. I now saw that the ninjas were running toward me, but they were still a good ways off. I noticed there was someone standing on the roof with me. He spoke and removed his hood. It was Samuel L. Jackson. He said, "The syndicate has brought you some supplies. Now, you don't have to kill everything. You can use one of these bad boys." He handed me a smoke grenade and some rations. The rations looked like coaster sized pieces of corn bread. I stuffed them into my pocket and tossed the smoke grenade down on the beach below. I looked at Samuel L and said, "They will all die." I noticed a couple ninjas running into the smoke. I leapt off the top of the building and fell down on top of the two ninjas. I plunged the dagger and sword into the necks of the two ninjas as I landed on them (assassins creed style). I stood up and licked the blood off of my sword. It tasted like strawberry. Samuel L was still on top of the roof. I looked up at him, spread my arms wide and gave a smirk. He shook his head and said, "Now you've done it. The entire clan will be after you." I smiled and said, "It won't be the first time I've fought a bunch of ninjas." I noticed there was a large group of them approaching. I wanted a larger area to work in, so I ran away as they gave chase. I soon came to an open area. It was a playground, but it was on the sand. There were seesaws, merry-go-rounds, slides, swings, etc. The ninjas arrived and started popping out from all sides at once. I shouted, "Feel the wrath of the reverse blade!" I began slicing them up. I performed several neck plunges with my dagger. I also cut a few of the ninjas' heads clean off. I decided to make it more, "Jackie Chan style." I started using the playground equipment around me to fight. I pushed the marry-go-round and hopped on. I sliced up ninjas as I spun around the merry-go-round. I jumped off and the whole dream scene had scrambled a bit. We were still in a playground, but everything was in different places and there were some new equipment as well (those weird animal rocking things and some of those green plastic turtle sandboxes). I climbed up the slide and a the ninjas closed in around it. They were fighting like the foot clan in the old ninja turtles movies (they would wait their turns and come at me one or two at a time while the others stood in the background and moved around menacingly). I slid down the slide and sliced several conveniently placed ninjas (they were standing right beside the slide). I ran into the middle of a gang of them and decided to let them close in on me. I then held out my arms wide. One was holding the sword and the other, the dagger. I then spun real fast in circle and sliced them up with a helicopter like motion. The dream began to fade and I allowed myself to wake, so I wouldn't forget anything. Series Details Join all the action in the dream series, "Fearless." You never know what I may run into, but you can guarantee I'm ready for a fight. Stay tuned for more blades, guns, and explosions in this series!

NON DREAM DREAM LUCID I am standing in my bedroom, and it's nighttime. I look at my bed, and notice something strange. I can't really explain it, but I see what looks like one of those colorful decorative window stickers kids make, but it was in the shape of a cartoonish old lady, and it was big. I realize I must be dreaming, because what I currently see is never usually there. I do a RC, and suddenly everything becomes vivid, because I can still breathe through my nose even though I'm pinching it shut. I'm not sure what to do, so I slowly walk out of my room and into my hallway. As I'm walking down the hall, I remember reading about how reflections look weird in the dream world. So I poke my head into my bathroom and look in the mirror. The only thing that's different is the fact that I have lots of bangs covering my face. I shrug it off and continue walking down the hallway, into my living room. I'm standing there and I decide I want to try and change my environment. I close my eyes and concentrate, telling myself that when I open my eyes, I'll be in a completely empty, solid white room. Err, I failed. I was still standing in my living room. Then, I wanted to try and change my appearance. I look in the mirror in the living room, and (probably because I had just watched Elf in real life) tried to change myself to look like Zooey Deschanel. Well, that didn't work either. I also remembered how technology usually doesn't work correctly in dreams. So I see my laptop on the table and try to turn it on. It does, but the internet isn't working and Google is wacky. That's when my brother walks out of his room, eating an apple, and keeps bothering me, trying to figure out what I'm doing on the computer. I want him to leave me alone but he keeps irritating me. Yep, he's pretty much being exactly how he is in real life, even the apple eating. Suddenly my mom walks out of her room, and yells at my brother to go back to bed because it's too early. But she doesn't seem to see me. I wake up, very happy.
a Dream 1 : Needy Old Lady Not waking lucid but dream lucid, I could remember past dreaming experiences and fully knew it was a dream. I was on the road behind my childhood home just walking along. I was not lucid but I knew this was a dream. I say some other people ever now and again. Towards the end of the road there was a young guy who looked something like a young Bob Saget, tall, lanky, very skinny, black hair combed over, he was flanked by an old woman who seemed to be annoying to him. She kept talking at him as if she wanted him to say something or understand her motives. I walked besides them. Then she saw a sitting area on the corner of the block where about 20 people were sitting in a circle waiting for something. I had seen this here before in the dream world, it was like an outdoor deck but this was round, on the corner of the homes property near the street and had seating benches in that circle for 2 levels of seats, with a railing around its perimeter. Strange but not too much, still I am not sure exactly the meaning of it or what it is supposed to do. People always sit in it like they are expecting something to happen. The annoying old lady saw it and abruptly broke away from her “victim” almost bumping into me. I stopped short and she turned to me and said “excuse me.” I saw her sit down up there and exhale like she was finally resting after much stress. “I am finished with life!” she said leaving me to believe that she was between lives instead of being a dreamer. “Freeing isn’t it?” I said, “Yes” she replied with a smile. I walked on up the bigger road to see what else was around. After a few seconds I felt her presence behind me, and to my left, and when I looked she was in the appearance of a Halloween rubber skeleton! I’ve seen stranger appearances but I had to roll my eyes at this one, this was a little weird. The old lady was blathering on about some inane trivial nonsense obviously trying to have my attention. I didn’t give it to her and just kept walking and looking ahead. She started to feel my legs like they were unnatural to her and my back and stomach a bit (These were all her height as a little skeleton woman). “Oh you’re so real!” she said as if expecting something unreal. “I am real” I said with conviction. Then the way she was talking changed a bit and when I looked back she was now a little pig woman, with the body of a pig but the face of a woman but with the snub nose. This had to be something she had perfected in her own time, it takes a bit of thinking and manipulations of feelings to get something like this to work. She was saying something about needing help so I picked her up. She sat up in my hand saying something, then I thought that her butt in on my palm, and though this is a dream, it is still disgusting. I shifted her to both hands in front of me so I could toss her out in front of me giving her a bit of a head start. I got a feel of her though and she didn’t feel like a pig instead she had an icky type of old-lady-skin where it is very thin and slips a lot right under the skin, almost how chicken skins slide around on the wet meat after being cooked. This creeped me out so I put her down almost tripping over her. The scenery turned into a home like setting, a long home where we could walk around it like one of those homes that are museums. She was still chattering away as we walked by people to each side of us who looked to be dressed in clothes from the 1700’s. She started to ask why I wasn’t attracted to her. Exasperated I said “I can’t have a relationship with a pig.” She protested a bit with some squealing. Then she changed into a cow-lady! Now she had a fake cow body like if you were wearing a cow costume, but only knee high to me, and her face was her full woman face with white cow coloring. So she was a tiny fake cow woman. I turned and looked at her and said “Udderly ridiculous” Then I motioned like “get it?”, she was not amused, I walked on. Then she talked about some things she had done to help people as if I would like her for these things she’s done, but by now I was beyond pretenses and was on to have as much fun out of this as I could, so in mock adoration I said, “That’s moo-tastic.” She just stood there exasperated as I walked off and hoped she would not follow. I watched a woman ironing with a hot flat iron in her 1700’s era kitchen as I walked away. Dream 2: Airport Still dream-lucid I was in an airport parking lot and while looking for something interesting to see came to a 18 wheeler being loaded by 3 young adults. I gave it a look and walked in. They paid me no attention. I came to the back of the truck where boxes were piled high, bored and a bit angry at this place, I laid down on the trucks floor. If they thought I worked there maybe someone would get angry and give the place some life! A young woman who held herself like she was in some kind of charge of this work asked the guy in there looking at his clipboard about me “Is this guy working?” “Yea he’s working” the guy said surprising me a bit but I decided to play along for a bit. I got up and followed her to the pile of boxes in the middle of the trucks trailer that had to be sorted “They have to have the info down” she said refereeing to the mailing address info on the boxes. She turned to go back into the truck more and tell me something but I realized this was my chance to freak her out, I could wake up, pulling myself out of the dream area with no apparent way to have left. I willed my real eyes open and could still see her portly self in her red hoody as an after image.
1-23-11 Dream1: France Nonlucid I was on vacation in France and waiting with fellow travelers for the tour guide or someone to come get us because the trip was over. I was seated on the cobblestone between 2 walls like this. I was sad because the trip was over. I looked around waiting I looked at people walking by and the giant concrete eagle on the wall above me. On closer inspection it was a giant pigeon. [This alone should have told me this was a dream]. Then I looked at some people and checked out the pigeon again. "Hmmm I could have sworn the thing was looking left...." I looked away then back and it was looking in different directions! Then I saw the giant pigeon head move like the stone was alive! I was relieved that I was not crazy, whew! [WTF? And I am a little disturbed to think that this is just what a crazy person would think! "no need to worry, the stone pigeon is alive!" Still no LD, amazing...] I looked around at what a nice day it was but I was getting board. Then I was in an apartment. I looked up to see a window and it was night. I looked around to see that there was a woman there (white, black hair, mid 20's) this was a living room and I could hear rain. I looked outside and saw it was very dark outside and the rain was pouring down onto the cobblestone ground outside. "I was in Paris twice before and it was raining then too" I said. [I have been to Paris twice but the weather was perfect.] I looked to the girl and she looked back like "so?" I walked off to see what else I could find while marveling at how real everything was. Then I was in a store a lot like Harrods. I strolled around and just when I thought everything was too boring someone said there was an alarm. I was thinking if I should leave or not when a woman came up to me and said in a heavy french accent "you should really go you know, its dangerous." Then she looked off into the store and from her I heard the word "bomb" even though she did not speak it. I looked outside for the massive bomb/anti terror squad there was sure to be but there was only one police car with its lights on and he looked like he was talking to a woman on a bicycle. "Hmmm, doesn't look like much of anything" I thought. Dream 2: Midflight nonlucid I was driving on a road. Then I saw a line of people in a left turn lane, but they were people, no cars just people standing there waiting for the light to turn. This was interesting so I pulled in behind them and then I realized I didn't have a car but I was walking. The light turned green and everyone turned into a parking lot and walked into a bland white building's back door. I walked in a little after them. I felt like I was trespassing but I walked around only to see that it was a factory plant. I walked out the same door and saw a little old lady startled and then she walked off. "Oh this is really going to be boring." So I decided to fly but I was going to try the superman style take off I have been reading about. It worked! Then I realized that I still I had no idea what I wanted to do up here! Then then visionary shapes started to break apart into random lines and then darkness. I was awake, damn and had just taken off too!
Nothing lucid last night (I was lucid the night before, but just explored and didn't do much), but there was a pretty sweet fireworks show. It was one of those amalgams of a dozen different times and places and people who weren't exactly who they are in RL and probably wouldn't be in the same room together, but pretty much I was hanging out with family, and at one point we were outside and a fireworks show started one town over. Someone in our crew had some decent ones, too, and answered with a few bursts and bottle rockets. I remember one was kind of a dud and went into the lake/creek/whatever near us, and kept going off under the water. It was green and lit up the water in a cool way. I also dreamed that I followed an old lady from my hometown down into a subway line hidden under one of the larger small towns around where I grew up. It was made of really old-looking, crumbling limestone. At the lowest level it was pitch black and there were--wait for it--vampire ghosts. I tried to get the old lady out of there, but I was basically manhandling her up the stairs, and she wasn't getting anywhere, so she decided to kick me down the stairs and run :/
OKAY, well... I am running how I normally run in dreams - with great difficulty, huge long strides - down the road at night not far from where I live. I'm in the left lane, which is the one closest to the footpath/sidewalk in Australia. I just pass through an intersection when I hear a car behind me. I run onto the footpath, but the car swerves as if I'm still on the road. It goes onto the footpath in front of me, and crashes into a pole. "Oh no!" I look over and see cars stopped at the traffic lights. I run over and ask one for their phone. My year 3 teacher gives me hers. I look up and see all the emergency vehicles around. I run back over... But in the middle of the road, the old lady who crashed says "Here he is; the boy who was running on the road!!" I think to myself Why was I running on the road, if I wasn't supposed to? I'm dreaming Immediately all the people froze. Okay, I can't panic or I'll wake up. What am I supposed to do? Stimulate my senses! I stare at the road, which gets really detailed, but it's not enough. I decide to clap three times, but as I do, I can hear it echoing around my bedroom. I thought Oh, it's too late. I'm going to wake up. Everything goes grey. I see the word ALLUSION for a second. I wake up. After about 30 minutes I realised Wait a second, I have a cast on, I can't clap! The claps really were in my dream, dammit >

Lucid Non Lucid I am in some kind of cross country race through town. I am coming second. I am unfit to the power of ten so I found this amusing when I woke up. The race finishes at the pines. My old year adviser is at the finish line. I get reprimanded for being unprofessional and squirting water at other competitors (which I didn't do) At my house. Girlfriends car parked on the front lawn. It's night time and I notice The back window is cracked. I go to inspect it when I am attacked by an old lady I don't recognize. She has a big steel knife and is taking swings at me. I retaliate by pulling a big f-off sword from nowhere that looks like a monster sized version of her knife and start swinging at her, but all I can cut is her hair. In an old barn that feels familiar and mine although it isn't recognized. Younger step brother has decorated the roof with crappy skate graphics and glow in the dark paint [Nightmare] Night-time, running Dream recall is improving, especially when I write it down in between dreams.
Morning of April 1, 1972. Saturday. Dream #: 1,930-01. Optimized 1 minute 30 second read. I am on my own, walking through downtown Arcadia, Florida, in the late morning. Eventually, protoconsciousness (secondary consciousness that emerges at a specific point between dreaming and waking) personifies on my right (north of where I am standing). It manifests as an old lady carrying groceries in brown paper grocery sacks. We are standing near the curb. (Even though I was eleven years old in real life when I had this dream, she was about a foot shorter than me.) She is wearing a headscarf similar to my mother’s and is cheerful and friendly towards me at first. I think she needs help crossing the street (even though I see no traffic) and carrying her groceries. I take a paper sack filled with her groceries and hold it in my left arm. When I pull on her left arm with my right hand, I suddenly seem to be holding a small tree branch, so I become puzzled. I think I grabbed her wooden cane by mistake. However, it turns out to be her left arm that resembles that of a stick insect. (There is no blood or gore.) She is now an anthropomorphic stick insect with the head of an old lady. She raises her right fist and yells at me. Dream content meanings: Main Category: REM Atonia (Physical Immobility While Sleeping) Influence on Dream Narratives and Outcomes. My dream’s outcome: The woman’s arm coming off confirms my lack of physical mobility while sleeping. (This event is a protoconsciousness mechanism serving as a wakefulness catalyst.) This type of dream (lack of arm mobility) is usually the second to occur near a sleep cycle’s beginning. (Here, I had been awake for a time before going back to sleep on a Saturday morning.) The first is losing leg mobility (walking, losing my footing, and rapidly sliding on my heels while falling with corresponding myoclonus). My expectation of crossing the street: Anticipation of leaving the dream state to achieve wakefulness. There is influence from the “helping a little old lady cross the street” trope from television and comic strips. “Similarly, he (Herbert Silberer) has shown that the conclusions of some dreams or some divisions in their content merely signify the dreamer’s own perception of his sleeping and waking.”
