    1. Zombies, skins, video games and rc helicopters. In a shopping mall.

      I don't remember the beginning of this dream - its probably the longest one I've had for a while. What I do remember though, are small fragments. It started while I was playing a video game. I thought that this game was rubish because I was driving a car in a city, and the road was made of sqares that moved down when I drove on them, so i kept crashing. After this, I remember watching a war in the city between two robot armies and then they jioned together to fight some other robots that appeared. The next thing I rememeber is being in a building with two or three people in a different city. The city was infested with zombies but i dont remember what we had to do in the building. Anyway I sent a scout helicopter (a mini rc one) to do something (cant remember what) but then a monster/zombie saw it and soon there were loads coming towards the building. I wasn't scared because I knew that we had enough machine guns to stop them. After that I remember going into a zombie infested shopping centre/mall, but the zombies didnt attack if we didnt disturb them. I went into a shop that sold antiques with lots of people inside, and met one of the twins from skins (I dont know which one). She said she lost her sister and naomi so I said i'd help her because it was better than just staying in the shop bored. Then someone shot their gun (i think it was me) and the zombies started to run towards the shop. I pulled down the meshes (things they pull down when they close the shop) but there was a gap where there was no mesh to pull down (the meshes were weird because they wernt flat, they were shaped like tall hill-like things, that are hard to explain). Everyone in the shop started shooting them so they didnt get in. After that we left the mall, then the next thing i remember is seeing lots of zombies escaping the mall, with lots of soldiers shooting them. I tries to help by shooting, but my pen (that was a gun in the dream) didnt workbecause it was a ball-point pen and the soldiers were angry at me because they thought i was have shot the because i was behind them and the zombies were directly in front of them. After that I remember being in an allyway with the twin from skins and then a bunch of bikers were there but I dont remember the rest. I then remember running out of a garden because a REALLY fat zombie (she was shaped like a ball) was chasig after us and was getting even more angry becuase we were using her trampoline to jump over the fence, and she didn't like that (or she didnt like us touching the netting around it). I then remember going back into the fat zombies house, and she had lost weight, and turned to normal. I then said sorry to her for the trampoline thing. I became lucid here and walked around her house, rubbing my hands trying to stay lucid. After that I came out of lucidity and did something else that I can't remember but it might have been something I wrote already because i'm not even sure if its in the right order :S.

      A note to our teenage adventure protagonist: we're totally messing with you.

      Our surroundings are bright, a world of clear glass windows surrounded by sunlight. My footfalls are light and airy, bearing none of the gravity that this situation should require. I am calm, cool, and collected as I approach the dark-haired man at the top of the dias.

      "You should know, Amon," I say, "That you can't possibly win."

      Amon surveys the horizon, his back turned to me. "We don't have to do this," he says quietly. "You could give up the girl..."

      "That's not going to happen."

      Amon turns to face me, dark energy forming in a globe between his hands. He's still young. I barely have time to process the thought. I'm dodging. Blackness swallows up the staircase I was standing on a moment ago.

      I bring my hands together, pull them apart in a quick motion. A lance of energy surges toward Amon, aiming for the heart.


      I'm sitting at a four-person booth in a restaurant, nursing a cup of coffee. I hold it up and breathe in the warm scent, before setting it back down with a clink on the table. I glance up at Amon, who's sitting across from me at the table. The corner of his mouth is twitching up into a smile, though he's trying to suppress it.

      Beside me is the girl I was talking about before, our protagonist, Sasha. I love playing a supporting character. She's glancing up at Amon and back at the table, trying to look for all the world like she's not about to bolt at the first sign of hostility.

      I have to chuckle. "So. Do you think this counts as an anti-climax?"

      Amon's about to point out the double-entendre, but Sasha cuts him off.

      "What the hell, ---?" she says, twisting to face me directly. "He was trying to kill you!"

      "Nah," I say, leaning back in my seat, "Amon and I aren't enemies. Are we, Amon?"

      "Nope," he says, barely keeping a straight face.

      "Tell him about your problem." I say, my expression far too earnest.

      "I can't remember my parents' eye colours, okay? They keep changing!" Sasha springs up from her seat and stomps away to the restroom.

      "Who pays attention to their parents' eye colours?" asks Amon.

      "Weird people. Or very observant ones?" I wonder. "Anyway, I took a look at her memories, and they have been tampered with."

      "And you just got rid of her. Am I thinking what you're thinking?"

      I nod, gleefully. "We should investigate."

      We slip away from the diner and back into the mall we just destroyed. I press a few random buttons on a keypad and the door opens with a hiss. I walk right in, Amon following close behind. We're in the clothing department, where a couple missing parents should be frozen as mannequins.

      "If we have all of the permutations right," I muse, wandering over to a control panel disguised as a jewellery counter, "We should just be able to enter them here."

      Amon presses a few places on a blank wall. As he touches them, the spots light up in squares. He finishes the combination and steps back. I hear a low hum permeate the air around us.

      "I have a bad feeling about this." I mutter.

      Amon shoots me a glare. "I don't like your bad feelings," says Amon. "They make bad things happen."

      The mannequins in the display near us, half a dozen at least, start to twitch.

      Mind Games. Scare Factor: 2.

    3. Futuristic Gaming

      I'm waiting for my brother to pick me up at home and take me to the mall. He's running late, so I go downstairs and fire up my computer. It has a projected user interface, as in Jarvis from the Iron Man movie, and a very large high-def monitor. I start to browse Wikipedia (text, so failed RC), looking up Super Smash Bros. Brawl, and from there link to an obscure Japanese game that takes place in the Kingdom Hearts universe. It download it and proceed to play.
      The only relationship to Kingdom Hearts is the use of the Gummi Ship. This vehicle is presented in top-down perspective, scrolling in a traditional manner as in Galaga or Galaxian. The enemies follow colored tracks along with a soundtrack, as in Audiosurf, and special flight maneuvers are also order with the music as in DJ Hero. The interface is intuitive and the gameplay frantic enough to keep me engaged for several rounds, and I start to reconsider going to the mall at all.
    4. Mall Running

      I visit a mall, one derived from the Florence Mall in Northern KY that has served as a location for several previous dreams (failed reality check). As I wander around, I hear some snippets of conversation that seem familiar from real life (another failed reality check), including someone explaining their confusion about my roommate's name. The mall is nearing closing time, so nearly everyone is there to exercise. There are runners, walkers, and a large contingent of skaters inside a cavernous skate shop made entirely of wood. There's even a group of people on old-school penny farthing bicycles!
      I start to join in the activity by doing lame parkour moves on the planters and benches. I know I could do better, but I'm wearing leather loafers, a blue long-sleeve dress shirt, and khaki pants. Suddenly, my friend C comes running out of nowhere, his impressive red mane streaming from behind him. He starts to race me through the mall, and he puts on a burst of speed I know he could never have in real life. I fall behind, panting and angered, as he runs out of the mall.
    5. Mission Space... At the Mall?

      Dream 1 - Mission Space

      Type: regular dream.

      This dream began in a mall-like situation. I was in a hallway, similar to the atrium of a mall, but the walls were much closer even though the ceiling was high up. I was walking towards an open box-like space in this mall 'hallway', with my sister and my father. The walls and floor were of a typical mall location: tile, slightly dirty from people walking on them all the time, with off-white walls.


      That's when I saw the Mission Space sign to the left, just before the opening. It looked like the picture above, but at a smaller scale and less bold, as if the colors were less saturated, or paler. I didn't think anything unusual of this, even though the only Mission Space ride is at Disney World. The next instant, I eagerly asked my father if we could go on. He said sure, and so all three of us got into the single capsule (click here to see what it looks like in real life). It looked the same as that, except that the four seats inside the capsule were all closed off from one another, separated by a thin wall. So once I got inside, I couldn't see my father or sister. I paid no attention to how I managed to get inside, into the middle seat even though I couldn't recall the walls coming out or opening up to allow entry.

      Then, the simulation started.

      I recall it looking shockingly similar to the real thing, except that the screen in front of me looked like a slightly fuzzy television screen: one of those with the slightly convex screens with bits and pieces of static all over, and it was not as clear as it should have been. I even felt slight G-forces, or something similar to that, as the ride took off. On the screen, I saw the end of a straight roller coaster track, and then I felt the beginning of forces acting against me as the simulator began working. But soon enough, I felt the dream fading. I began to lose my sense of touch even though I was holding two handles on the sides of the ride, almost like a numbness, and my vision was getting dark. I suddenly realized that was is a dream, but unfortunately, it was too late. I resolved to DEILD as soon as I got back in bed.



      Dream 2 - DEILD

      It worked. I managed to think clearly enough of the inside of the capsule, where I was inside my last dream, as well as imagine the senses of touch, smell, and sight regarding the ride. I ended back up inside the ride. Now, I just had to get out of it. I panicked for a second, but then I summoned a big red emergency button. It looked like one of those glass ones, with very red coloring and a slight light emitting from it. I pressed it and the ride capsule opened, front-first. I got up and walked straight out of it, and I realized now that I could do anything I wanted. I shouted "yes, I DEILDed!" as I usually do and started running towards an exit door that I summoned. I could see, in the corner of my eyes, a couple DCs staring at me like I was a psychotic person, but I didn't stop to explain; I had precious time to spend in this dream. I turned a corner and I emerged out into a city-like area with a large brick building; tan bricks, some triangular roofs...

      But then I woke up.

    6. Samurai Jack and Kalima

      I cannot remember the first part of the dream but there is an image of being near a water front and my dream character Kalima walking with a group of people (her servants, as she is a princess disguised as a commoner) past a dock where people are fishing off of and swimming around. Kalima and her group crest a sand dune and come across some of Aku's robots about to attack the people at the beach. Kalima's group starts to try and fight the robots but are not doing well when Samurai Jack appears and deftly defeats the attacking machines.

      Jack is then invited by members of Kalima's group to join them for dinner and they go to a building that looks like a palace on the outside but looks like a mall on the inside. Kalima walks behind the group and lingers in an area that has books and sofas and children's toys for a momemt. Jack comes back to find her and they follow the group into a room decorated in the traditional Japanese style with three bamboo tables that are easily assembled on the spot. Jack sits down with the men at the middle table while Kalima and the women sit down at the table to the left. The table on the right, which is close to the entrance of the room, has no one seated at it so the food can be placed upon it.

      Jack and Kalima catch each other's eyes several times but each looks away shyly. There are presents in one corner of the room as it is one of the servant's birthday. There is a part where the far wall opens to reveal a grocery store or warehouse or something but other than that I cannot remember any more of this dream.
    7. Weird, Yet Boring

      Dreamed that I was desperately trying to get somewhere. For some reason, I was wandering around a shopping complex that also doubled as a small city. I was lost and wandering through the stores. I accidentally knocked some garbage onto the floor at one of the restaurants, the owner didn't care about it but was concerned about me for some reason...
      I was waiting for a friend to come pick me up, he had a motorcycle, he was supposed to take me somewhere (I would assume the place I was trying so hard to get to) and it required taking the highway... the problem was that when he showed up, I couldn't recognize his bike, and it turned out that all he had was a stupid push-scooter.

      Anyway, it ultimately ended with the cops looking for me after the restaurant owner reported me, so I climbed up onto the roof area of a large building that looked like it was made of adobe and carved stuff into the walls with my little three-inch knife.

    8. Liquidation Sale

      I dreamed I was at Westmount Mall in the Music World store. They have been having a liquidation sale because the store is closing. I am browsing the few shelves that have anything on them, but most of the stuff is crap. There were three cds that were sold individually, but were made by the same band and consisted of the themes body, mind and soul. All of the cd's had white backgrounds, neon pink writing and flowing spiral designs on the cover. The first cd was called "Physical" and was made up about songs dealing with the body. The second cd was called "Mental" and dealt with songs about the mind and perception. The last cd was called "Spirit" and were songs about the soul or something. I cannot remember the name of the band, but since the cds were on sale, and all three were still available, I picked them up with the intention of buying them.

      In the dvd section there were many blue boxs with pink and white writing on them. I cannot remember what movie or television series it was, but I figured that it must suck since no one was buting them, even at 80% off. I saw a dvd for a few episodes of Neo (Genesis?) Evangelion and though I have never seen the series and know nothing about it, I decided I wanted to buy it because it was less than ten dollars. When I picked up the dvd someone across the store yelled that the store was closing and we had to get out. I cannot remember the very end of the dream, but I think I ended up leaving without paying for anything and it was cool because no one cared.

    9. Warehouse, Jet, WE Mall and Motoko Kusanagi

      The dream starts off in a warehouse of some sort. There are hundreds of people seated at desks working away at drawings and animations and the such. I am sitting at the very back and making little doodles because I am not happy and I do not want to be there. Some of the other animators are gloating and flaunting their talents and everyone is giving them praise. I start making drawings that are not a part of the criteria and get in trouble for it.

      There was also some animator guy who stood up and made a big anouncement that he was leaving animation and becoming a wrestler or something, but I cannot remember exactly.

      I leave the giant warehouse-animation room and go outside. I am in a farmer's field that is all dried up and devoid of any crops. I can see cars and trucks passing by on a distant roadway. There are a few small aircraft flying overhead. I gaze up at the aircraft and suddenly the dream changes and I am in the cockpit of a fighter jet. I am supposed to bring the aircraft in for a landing, but the small airport is suspended on the side of a large building or cliff and the runway consists of only a helicopter landing pad. Fortunately the fighter jet has hover capabilities and i am able to put it down on the narrow landing pad.

      I get out of the aircraft and suddenly I am floating high above looking down on everything. There is a group of people looking at the fighter jet and an older man who is very rich and powerful who is gloating about his prestige and his ownership of the airport. Suddenly the dream is back in the bare field, but it is no longer bare. There are miles of grape vines, but all of the plants are dying. I can hear the voice of the rich old man but I cannot see him. He is still going on about how great it is to be him and it is really annoying me.

      I then walk back to the giant warehouse-animation building, but when I go back insode it is different. The inside is now a giant mall (like the West Edmonton Mall) and everything is coloured in an autumn colour scheme. I walk for a bit until I am in the center of some sort of multicultural celebration. I see my friend Rebecca and I run to catch up with her.

      We get some food and sit down to eat and talk. She tells me that she she is scared and does not want me to leave and I say that I am not going anywhere. Rebecca has a sad look on her face, then suddenly she stands up and runs away, dissapearing into the large crowd. I try to follow but I cannot push my way past the huge gathering of people and have to go back. I am really upset that Rebecca ran away from me. I go into an East Indian food display and think about buying some delicacies, but I am sure that I do not have enough money for it. I find a credit card in my pocket and just pay with that. I am sort of creeped out because the two men who run the display will not stop staring at me.

      Suddenly the dream changes again to the inside of an Oriental food store. Everything is dull and grey. There is an old Chinese man at the counter sorting CD-RW disks. His wife comes in through a heavy metallic back door and starts screaming at him for something. I go through the back door and find that it not only leads outside, but is at the top of a tall building (where as the front door is at groud level). The heavy metal door locks behind me and I cannot go back.

      Major Motoko Kusanagi from Ghost in the Shell is standing at the edge of the rooftop and jumps off. The scene is the same as the jump down from the opening sequence from the Stand Alone Complex anime series. I dissapear from the dream at this point and everything is viewed in third person.

      Major Kusanagi lands on a low roof top in a back alley. In the alleyway below there is a black truck and three suspicious looking men loading cardboard boxes into the back of the truck. The boxes are sealed but heavy and the men are trying to load them quickly. The Major draws her gun and yells at them to stop, but the men draw their own weapons and open fire. Two of the men engage the Major in gun play while the last man quickly throws the rest of the boxes into the truck. One box falls out of the truck and bursts open, scattering VHS video tapes and CD disks all over the alleyway. The three men jump into the van and speed off.

      The Major is trying to figure out what is on the disks when some investigators show up (though none are other characters from the GITS show or movie - they appear to be random creations of my subconscious). Major Kusanagi leaves them to clean up the mess and figure out what the disks and tapes are and runs off in the direction that the truck went. She runs out of the alley and into a beach front shopping strip. There are thousands of people and hundreds of vehicles on the road and on the beach, making it impossible to find the truck.

      There is a bus sitting at a terminal on the other side of the road, seemingly abandoned. The Major gets onto the bus and it starts to move under its own power and without a driver. There are other people on the bus but they stare out of the windows and will not respond to anyone trying to get their attention. The bus travels down the road for a bit and makes two left turns around the block. It stops in front of the Oriental food store. When she gets off the bus, the Major can see the three men from the alleyway talking to the old Chinese man through the window. There is one of the sealed cardboard boxes on the counter.

      The four men pick up the box and exit through the heavy metal back door. Kusanagi follows and finds herself back on the roof top in which she started, with none of the men in sight.



      The dream becomes too fuzzy for me to remember any more, but it ended soon after anyway.
    10. The Mall Musuem Adventure

      The dream takes place in some sort of two-story shopping center. The walls and floors, stairs, railings and benchs were all carved out of white marble. The upper floors had ritzy expensive stores, while the lower floors had cheaper, generic stores.

      At the beginning there was some young man skateboarding on the lower floor of the mall. I don't reall his name but he looked like Link from Zelda: Ocarina of Time, but dressed in modern clothing. His boarding escapades led him into the basement of the mall where he ended up in some sort of electrical/janitorial room. I cannot remember now what he did there, but I do remember that he ran into some Canadian television stars that I recognize but cannot recall the names of at this time.

      Eventually the young man returned to the first floor of the mall and as he was trying to grind on some stairs, the lower level of the mall started to flood very rapidly. People in the mall were panicking and screaming and many of them were washed away by the rushing water, but the young man managed to get up to the second floor and to saftey.

      The young man's skateboard disappeared and the mall suddenly changed. There were suddenly no people and though it still looked like a mall, the window displays and stores were now more like a museum. The lights went out and the only illumination came through the skylights in the roof. The water on the first floor disappeared. Three people appeared and ran into the skateboarder. The group of three was led by a black woman who had psychic powers and could detect magic in items. The other two people were a young white woman and a middle aged black man.

      I cannot remember the purpose now, but the four characters had to explore the place and find some magical items. They could not leave the shopping center/museum until they had done so. The dream gets a bit fuzzy, but as the four explored and found the magic items (several magic rocks or peices of jewelry) the brighter the building became, as if finding an item had turned the electricity back on.

      When they had found all of the items, the group of people found a stairs leading the the first floor and into a room that was very much like a standard museum display. They became excited and went in and found a door from which they could exit the shopping center/museum. The dream ends as soon as they get outside into the sunlight.
    11. Strip Mall and Parking Lot

      I was in some sort of strip mall that I do not know in waking life, walking around with a former co-worker of mine named Samir. We were window shopping and discussing something but I cannot remember what now. Some things happened that I cannot recall but somehow Samir and I ended up running into Samir's brother.

      The three of us walked and talked some more and eventually Samir and his brother disappeared and I found myself in a parking lot of a strip mall that is close to my home in waking life. The sun was setting and there were no cars in the parking lot. As I walked across the parking lot I found myself surrounded by a large group of women dressed in heavy black robes (burkas?) and they walked in pace with me and in complete silence.

      When I got to the sidewalk that leads to my street, they group of women dissapeared, and then I woke up.
