      NON-DREAM DREAM LUCID

Coming out of a dream once more, I went back into one, visualizing myself sitting up in my bed with my laptop. I typed "dial.org", trying to get to a site I used to use every now and then some years ago (I believe "failblog.net" is what I meant), but I couldn't type it correctly no matter how many times I tried. When I gave it one last try and found my computer saying "Porn" in my URL bar, I gave up trying to type it.

I realized I only had one eye open, so I opened the other and found everything to be very clear around me, very satisfying. I was enjoying the lucid, so I kept a very serious face to avoid coming out of it prematurely. Done with my computer, I reached under my pillow, looking for a pistol. Of course, I pulled out a beautiful, big black revolver and aimed it first at my computer screen, then out my window, figuring even in a dream I shouldn't shoot my only computer.

I cocked and fired it - but it sounded like a .22 rifle.
(As in, not a very strong gunshot sound.) I cocked it and expected it to sound like a heavy gun when I fired it this time - it made a satisfying, loud boom like it should have. I went for a shot once more, this time expecting it to sound like a cannon - but this time, it sounded like the last shot I'd made, which, while satisfying, wasn't as incredibly loud as I'd hoped to hear.

I cocked the gun harder and pulled the trigger harder, still firing out my window into the bleak overcast sky, and found that I could fire multiple rounds with one pull if I pulled the trigger proportionately harder, much like an assault rifle. I did this several times, making the bullet chamber spin like a high-speed carousel, for several minutes, then I put the gun down to consider other things I could do while lucid.

I knew this was going to be a longer lucid than other recent dreams, so I was determined to make it good. At this point I thought about all my goals that I'd considered before going to bed that night, and sat there on my bed, fully lucid, thinking and taking my time. I wanted to try to contact Julia, so I screamed her name loud. It was so loud I could've sworn I'd heard myself shout it in the real world. I put my hand on my head and felt my hair was really soft while I thought about it - I realized I couldn't have a shared dream with her because she wasn't asleep this time of day.

While I thought, I closed my eyes in the dreamworld, and felt the lucid fading. I tried to open my eyes, expecting a false awakening to occur,
but I woke up for real.

Interesting thought: While lucid and trying to open my eyes, I felt like my lucid eyes were behind my physical eyes, and when I tried to open the lucid ones, they started to open one of my physical ones, which made me come awake, but only after I woke up did I feel like I was fully back in my own body and was seeing the proper perspective from my physical eyes.

Kill them! Kill them all! BWAHAHAHA! Ooh, pretty flowers.

My partner and I are divvying up guns and ammunition from a trunk he brought with him. The pistols are old-style revolvers that take forever to load, so I grab two, stuffing one each down the front and back of my jeans. Which is probably a bad idea, but hey, we're in a hurry.

Our team is comprised of settlers - space explorers even. I think we've decided that we want the planet, and we're going to kill all the people in the compound ten feet away. I don't know; I haven't been paying much attention. I just want to fight.

Vicki hangs a flare gun over one of my shoulders, and I'm smoking a cigarette, for some reason. There's a fuse on the end of the flare, and I accidentally light it with my cigarette, which is now a lit match. Hurriedly, I aim over the wall of the compound and fire, starting off the battle.

A man inside the compound aims some kind of explosive firework at the rest of the team, but I'm not concerned, since I'm not part of the big group standing together like bowling pins. Morons. Things explode, and we rush the compound.

I'm behind the rest of my team, so I don't get to shoot many people. I'm a little nervous about it actually. By the time we've cleared most of the place out, most of my team members are down.

We're only shooting the people with guns, which happens to be the men, mostly. Men and women and children are all standing together, and if you would take cover, I wouldn't be shooting you! I'm holding dual pistols, sending twin shots into the chest of a man that just. won't. die. Never mind, he's down.

I get a message over the radio, saying that some kind of failsafe has been activated. Plant life is withering around the ship, and it's going to kill us, too. The ship is about to evacuate the planet, and I have to run if I don't want to be left behind.

I take off down a grassy path, trying to run as fast as I can. Quickly, I realize that I can pull in more speed, and my surroundings simultaneously blur and come into sharper focus. I was just talking about running really fast in dreams, with Puffin, and it really is the best feeling - wait a minute.

I'm lucid. I stop and look around, urgency of the Run Away task starting to dissipate. I look around at my surroundings, which are very green and very floral. It's beautiful, really.

I wander back to the landing site just because I can. The plants are dead all around the ship, and nothing's left but mud. Most of the crew are off to the side, away from the ship and avoiding whatever deadly contagion plagues the soil.

I walk right through, calling up plant life as I go. I want to talk to one of the DCs,
but I'm being pulled back into the dream plot.

Suddenly, we're all peaceful and getting along with the inhabitants of the planet. I'm talking to Johanna, who's playing one of these people. I'm given a tour of the compound, and I make ivy spring up along the walls, which starts flowering immediately. It should start growing fruit within a few days (you know, since we destroyed their supplies and all).

      ***

Wandering around an RV, which seems to fit an entire house in it. Linkara's giving me a tour, and I'm still making flowering ivy grow along the walls. I wonder what it's feeding on.

      ***

My brother is driving the same car we crashed into the harbour last night. We're driving along a road that's made entirely of ice, and he's going way too fast. We're driving into an underground castle-like structure where his music lessons take place. There's a steep downward slope, and PEDESTRIANS! LOOK OUT! SLOW DOWN! And a sharp turn right after a quick ramp THAT SENDS US FLYING into the air and we're going to crash and I telekinetically shove the car back onto the road.

      We come to a stop.

"Okay," says Ben, catching his breath. "Maybe I'll go a little slower next time."

      Border Skirmishes. Scare Factor: 3.

New rule: DCs aren't allowed to drive. Ever.

    3. Guns, lions, and videogames

by , 06-15-2010 at 05:00 AM (Visions in the Dark)
Dream starts off with me in a very small town in a desert. There is a variety store that sell guns, and a fast food outlet, as well as a few houses scattered around. I am in the variety store looking at the guns that are displayed on a wall. There is something about someone trying to rob the variety store or something but he is chased away by the owners who have their own guns or something. I remember contemplating buying one but I cannot remember if I actually did or not.

I go to a building next door (to the left) that seems like an art gallert or something but it is dark and empty of people. There is a raised platform at the back where suits of armor are displayed along side aquariums filled with gold fish embedded into the walls.

I go back into the variety store and into a hall that connects it to the fast food joint (to the right). The hall is windowless and narrow, its walls made or cork board and it has a dirt floor. In the middle of the hall are two juvenile African lions. They are both male and one is a pale yellow, almost white in colour and the other is a dark golden colour. A women taking care of them tells me that they have been raised together and are the security system for the gun store. The lions are play fighting with one on it's back on the floor and the pouncing on top of it. As I walk by the lion on top growls and takes a swing at me, but then goes back to play fighting with it's brother.

I am not in the fast food joint and the layout is really weird. The door I walked through leads to the eating area but it is seperated from the ordering counter by a stone and glass wall. To get to the counter you have to go outside to a door at the back of the store. I go outside and around and into the ordering area and make an order of a two burgers, some fries and a drink. The man and woman who own the store are of oriental decent and when they are done making my order they go into the eating area and start eating my fries. I have to go back around the store and into the eating area and take my food from them and ask for a refund since they ate half my fries. They say nothing and get up and leave the store.

I eat my food and go back into the variety store which has changed in sixe and is now larger. There are arcade games at the back now as well as a few computers with games on them, though the computers look like open, three ringed binders. I am play a few games, one an RPG with princesses and another a shooting game and break the current records for best gameplay.

      ★★☆☆☆
It's another day at the office. I'm working on changing certain security settings for specific accounts, but am distracted when a lively character comes into the office. She starts up a racing circuit of some kind that involved jumping, running, and phasing over, around, and through cubicles. She invites me to join, since there's only three racers in the circuit, but I'm hesitant to take her up on the offer.

      Dream: Bringing Down The House
      ★★★★☆
I storm into the headquarters of what seems to be a corrupt syndicate, headed by a man with silver hair. Confronting him directly, as women and guards surrounded him, I let him know I was going to bring his whole operation down. When I called him by his name, he freaked out and fled.

He managed to get away from me in the most bizarre and surreal manner, but I knew about his most recent plan. It involved putting on a play for a local school as a front for a much larger ploy, and that was my ticket in. I go to the school and work my way further into the operation, taking out or avoiding any opposition along the way. The dream ended before I could complete my objective.

"What the hell is wrong with you?!" I screamed at my mother as she slammed her foot on the accelerator, the van door still wide open as we sped away from all my new friends. She didn't answer. I had just stepped into the vehicle and hadn't even gotten a chance to sit down. In a matter of moments, the people, with whom I had recently become acquainted, were nothing but specs in the rear-view mirror.

Well this is just great, I think to myself, slightly agitated by my mother's reckless actions. After a little while of driving, a police car shot up alongside us, quickly overtaking the van before cutting us off. The police car screeched to a halt, but my mother was able to brake just as quickly. We had come to a stop right in front of a dank and sketchy dock. Two officers jumped out of the car and apprehended a man near stairs leading to the murky water. Suddenly, several men further down the dock, to the left, opened fire upon the two officers. My mother yanked me down to the floor of the van.

After what seemed like a good while, I looked up and saw a man knocking on the window. However, I was no longer in the van. It turned out I was down at the station, and the window belonged to the door of the interrogation room. Two officers, different men from before, stepped in and began questioning me. I answered their inquiries fully and with such detail that I myself was actually able to see my tale visually unfold around me.

I'm back in the car, by the dock. The policemen have already approached the man near the stairs. Behind them and to the right, someone appearing in civilian dress pulls out a handgun and shouts at the two officers to watch out. It turns out he's an undercover cop who had been placed at the scene for some reason unbeknown to me. The undercover guy starts firing at the group across the dock, and they respond in kind. The two officers let their attention stray from the man they had approached just long enough for him to sneak around behind them, take the gun from the third officer, and put down all three policemen.

With the officers gone, nothing is stopping them from eliminating witnesses. They unload everything they have left into the van. Remarkably, neither myself or my mother were killed. And we were so good at hiding, that when they came to check the car, they somehow managed not to spot us. . .

      NON-DREAM DREAM LUCID

*non lucid about a perverted yeti and shooting it with a Barret .50 Cal. goes here*

*realization that I'm dreaming after worrying about opening and closing a door and having the yeti reappear goes here*

How vivid! Thus the apple juice has proven its worth, three nights in a row. Now, to the air! As I fly off my front porch and skim the grass, the girl from before rushes out, still angry at me for not trying to take out the yeti any sooner, keeping up with my speed. "Wonderful dream we're having." I comment, smiling widely. She smiles back, anger disappearing, and rushes ahead. Goodbye, character of my mind, I will never see you again.

Oh, what to do? I think to myself, rising slowly into the air. Oh, yes, I need to speak with my Dream Guide. This won't be too hard, I think. "When I turn around, my Dream Guide will be in the court below me." The sun shines off the sleek black roof before me. I can see the reflection of everything behind me, but I ignore it verily. TURN! Aha, what is that figure dressed in green lying on the asphalt so far below? Surely, it is my Dream Guide!

I fly toward the female, dropping to the ground as I get closer. I reach out my hand and pull her up. Oh, I'd recognize that face and this strange feeling of, what, connection(?), anywhere. But, alas, something is amiss. She is so young and petite. It is her face, her hair, her presence, but much younger than I've ever seen. We greet each other with a smile. And I go right into why I've called for her. "I have some questions for you, about Ice."

"I know, but first you have to do something for me."

      "What is it?"

      "Take me to Narnia Castle."

      "Okay, let's go."

*change in tense and style because I'm getting lazy*

We head off. She runs ahead of me, taking my hand and pulling me along. My hands are dry, so I wet them and rub them together. She tries to take my hand again, but I don't want her to have to grab my wet hand, so I let the sleeves of my green Trench Coat fall past my hands.

I have no idea where we're going, or why she'd want to go to a place like that, whatever it may be. "Narnia Castle will be right up there when we pass those houses." I see buildings past the houses on the left street from my court. And straight ahead a strange could formation is being created at building level. "Or, if not, it'll form from those weird clouds right there."

We make it all the way to the end, but there's no obvious castle or building which we should enter. Suddenly a person calls out to us, pointing out the building behind them as the entrance to where we wanted to go. We head inside. She lets go of my hand and I start to feel myself slipping away. I can't hold onto the dream, and sure enough, I wake up.

Well, looks like I have some time to write this all down. De derp. All done, now to publish it. De derp. Great. I guess I'll check some email before the test. Oh, look my Dream Guide has replied to my journal. I am currently not noticing that I am in some kind of metro eatery style place or something and my DG is right outside the window. Instead I am having this conversation as I'm reading it. Hearing our voices as I go through. "What did that Castle thing have to do with Ice? Oh, you were trying to give me a clue? Is that where I should go to find him?" She gave me a look that, in retrospect, could be taken as either she didn't want to reveal something, but I was on the right track, or that what I was saying was just plain idiotic. I took it for the former. "So, he does hang out there a lot! Okay, so then he's just a DC!"

"No," she says. "he's a person, like me." I go silent. My Dream Guide has always been nothing more to me than an extension of myself, a way to reach and interact with my subconscious thoughts. I had never payed the connection I felt around her any mind. And at this time, I still wasn't. I felt awkward. Does she not know she's a DC?

"Well, look, some people are posting comments on my journal. I should attend to that."

And then I woke up for real.

I go outside the Restaurant/Bed and Breakfast. They've been shot. Before me lies a ragged body, riddled with bullet holes. Some other teenagers are running around with Uzis, but they didn't do this. Someone else did.

As I start my investigation, I see someone across the street, behind a car door. He tips his fedora down, and levels his sniper rifle at my chest. Oh, he better not, I think to myself. The bullet pierces through my chest, into my heart. Blood starts gushing out.

"Now you're gonna get it! Fucking with my dream?!" I start toward him, "What's it like existing solely within my mind?! Knowing, at any moment, you are subject to my very whim! Knowing, I could utterly destroy you with a thought, you stupid bastard!" A look of horror rolls across his face. He doesn't answer me in words. Instead, he starts to run.

He's getting away. I won't let that happen. I hurl a nearby car at him, using my telekinesis. It misses, and he's getting farther and farther away. I won't let that happen! I ready my short range teleport, point and click. Everything vanishes for a moment, before the dream scene is forcibly changed around me, bringing me within arms reach of the man I wished to end.

He keeps running. I need to move faster. My strides become longer and my speed increases three-fold. Before I know it, I'm upon him. "Now you will know my wrath!"

I forget what I did to him. >.>

I soon find out this is not the way to go, and before long my cursor has grown to several mile diameter. I'm now playing this game with Dwight Schrute from the Office. We've ranked up over 100 million dollars in revenue from our districts. Suddenly we're attacked by a bear. We run away, I expect Dwight to fight the bear with his bare hands, but instead the bear runs past us in fear and dwight hits it with a one of the construction tractor thingies with the large scoop on the front. <.<

I fire up the Xbox, and make a new silver account. There's this new game that comes out free on all Xbox's. It's a foot race game where you try to get the best times against people around the world. I start the game up and make my avatar, it looks more Mii-ish than usual. The game itself has sluggish controls. I'm actually inside the game as my avatar, but that's normal for me whenever I play games, so I pay it no mind. Anyways, I'm having some trouble moving at a fast pace, and the obstacles in my way are getting annoying.

So, I remember the course on Lucid Dreaming I just got out of. I figure it must be possible to do all that control stuff in video games so I just TK throw enemies and obstacles out of my way. As the path gets steeper and the ice slipperier I decide to simply fly over everything. In no time, I'm at the finish line, but I have to drop down for the game to register that I'm there. I get down just in time to beat everyone else who was racing with me. My time is so fast that it's the second fastest in the world by about two seconds. Yay.

'Twas an Epic LD, lots of fighting, but I can't remember too many of the details; it was a long one.

It started out partway into things. I was staying in this odd hotel. It was very large and sprawled out instead of up. The room I was staying in was like any old guest room you'd fine in someone's house, except it was about twice as large. and could fit at least 5 people comfortably. However I was the only one staying there.

Some things happen that I have difficulty recalling in detail, but it involves further developing the area we are in. It turns out the hotel is part of this crappy public school and gang violence is on the rise. I decide I need to leave since this isn't even my school, and half the people here don't even know the school's alma mater. I leave with the counselor, but we are followed by this kid in a red jacket. As we enter the car he pulls out a switchblade and tries to mug us and take the car.

All the while he had been following us I had been fingering the butterfly knife in my pocket and watching his shadow follow ours. I whipped it out and flipped it open, lunging at him. He's much more experience than I am and gets a solid cut across my arm, while I just nick his shoulder. I manage a few wrist cuts, but his form is much better than mine and he tears up my arm and neck, spilling blood everywhere. Not one to give up so easily, I manage to subdue him, and, with several stabs to the head later, he dies.

He turns into a ghost and wonders why I can see him. I explain to him my role in helping people cross over, and give him a stereotypical speel on how he has to scare people in order to gain more energy. It's really dumb, but I don't think so at the time.

I'm back in the hotel room, trying to lie down to sleep. Stuff happens that eventually has me with an old teacher and my brother at the arcade/casino of the hotel. There are some odd games there, one particular game they were playing was like a crane game, but with false gold and odd shaped things inside. They were playing that one for awhile. I told them how dumb it was and how worthless the prizes were, but my old teacher told me to stop spoiling the fun.

At this point, my Chick-Fil-A and Burger King meals were ready, so I took them and started walking away. I wonder how I'm going to eat all this food, but a voice in my head blurts in, saying relax it's a dream, eat away.

Yeah, you're right, it is a dream, I think strolling on as if nothing drastic had really changed. I make my way back to the front doors where this guy shouts, pulls out an uzi, and shouts something along the lines of "Everyone down, unless you want to volunteer to let us have some fun with you." I'm getting a kick out of all the people screaming and dropping to the ground. I just walk up to the guy, bags of food still in my right hand. I say to him, "Yeah, sure I'll volunteer," raising my other hand like you would to volunteer for something in a classroom. He looks at me weird, tells me to stay right there, and then runs back outside where he starts assembling his cohorts. There's a lot of them.

Well, crap, now how am I gonna enjoy my meal. There's no way I can fight that many with only one hand. So I run away. At first they're hot on my tail, but a few short range TPs put enough distance between us for a little more comfort, not that I was worried. The TPs destabilized things a bit, due to the sudden and forcible change in scenery. I stabilized by rubbing my hands together and focusing on the room I was now in. White walls, and lots of people on little white cots. I go into the corner, behind a white shelf that blocks most of the room from view, and pull out the Whopper. I take a bite. I normally don't eat in lucids, but maybe I should, because god this was delicious. The evil dudes were still looking for me and even came into the room and kidnapped a few kids and threw them onto crosses and into cramped coffin like boxes. But, I was chill, knowing it was just a dream, so I just kept eating my burger. It was moist and hot and meaty, with crunchy toppings like cold lettuce and sweet onions and pickles, can't forget those pickles.

At the time I didn't even know I was completing the basic task. *facepalm*

When I was satisfied, I got up and decided to go help those kids from earlier. I needed some more practice, so I did a few more short range TPs until I reached this large archway, with a few henchmen a little further in. I looked at my hand and decided to try out some close range energy blasts, since I suck at them. I start to build up a charge in my right hand and rushed at the closest guard. When they see me, a few random DCs think I'm one of their favorite super heroes and call out what they think is my name. Dumb DCs distract me and all I end up doing is forcibly grabbing the dude's face. To follow up, I punch him in the kidney, bringing my leg behind his, and twist my body, pummeling his head down into the cement ground, creating a big indent in it. With him down, I move onto his friends.

I figure I wouldn't do anything fancy here. Just brute strength and martial arts. A spinning jump hook kick to the head takes out one guy, and the other dude backs off, so I ignore him. Another group of henchmen go scrambling as I approach them. Before they can all get away I grab one by the collar and fling him violently downward, making my way to the carriages that housed the kids, on their crosses, in their coffin-like boxes.

I find myself back in bed.

      NON-DREAM DREAM LUCID

This is a long one, so I'll cut out the unimportant bits.

We're on a bus heading out to a lodge somewhere. There are some douche bags on the bus, some antics ensue, not really that important. We're in Florida and heading through some of the sketchier parts. We've been on the bus for awhile, when the driver finally decides to pull over, stating he will not be going through that section of town. Instead, we're going to be walking around it since there's no other route. We get out and start making our way to a swampy area. A car pulls around and the Bus Driver hangs back. Turns out a drug deal or something is going down, and the bus driver gets killed. By now I'm in the swamp, but I can't move very quickly through the slush. On top of that, the people who just offed the bus driver are coming for us now. This triggers that handy dream reflex of mine and in an instant, I'm Flying away.

The best part is I gained lucidity doing it. Sweet, finally, a legit DILD. I stabilized for a moment, rubbing my hands, before deciding to get right on the Task of the Month. I had it all planned out, I was going to activate the Self Destruct power from CoH. I "clicked" on the power (this is really abstract and hard to explain) and started through the animations. The red 10, 9, 8, started counting down over my head. I crossed my arms and hunched over, there was no electricity shooting off my body like in the game animation, but when the countdown hit 0 I released. It was one of the weirdest and coolest sensations ever. I could feel the blast engulfing and vaporizing my pursuers and the classmates around me. I saw pixelated specks of red and puffs of orange as my body became nothingness. I was gone and so were many of the things around me. I floated like that for a moment, in that serene state, before reconstructing my body.

That part wasn't too tricky, it just involved realizing my physical body was in my bed, and emulating what I felt outside the dream. That destabilized it a bit though, and I had to stabilize again. After that, I went into the nearby house and interacted with a few DCs, my lucidity waning, but still there. Most of them were people from the bus I hadn't seen before. The house was filled with old nerf guns and this one guy had a mini uzi that shot needles. I told him to shoot me with it, he did, and I stopped the projectiles a la Neo. After a short time chatting with them, I figured I'd attempt to locate my DG. It had been awhile since I had talked with her, and our last conversation was very insightful. So I casually asked the group if anyone knew where she was.

Surprisingly, they told me she was just up ahead, and sure enough, she came out from the other room. This conversation proved to be almost as insightful as the last one. We talked about the nature of reality, death, and she told me about a few drugs I should look into. I hadn't remembered hearing about these drugs before, but some of them turned out to be real, which was odd. One was Pepp, a hangover relief thingy (I don't drink, so this was weird), and one was Melox, or Meloxicam, an anti-inflammatory. The other one was Persep or something like that, I couldn't find anything on that upon waking. I knew the dream was ending soon, because my stabilization techniques weren't working well. So I said my goodbyes, went over the drugs once more to memorize their names, and woke up.
    11. December 16th, 2007 - The New Recruits

by , 12-16-2007 at 06:00 AM (Visions in the Dark)
The dream starts off in the small gymnasium of my old public school. There are no children, just new recruits for the military. The small gym is the sleeping quarters, whereas the large gym is for training. There are no chairs and the new recruits are forced to sit on their duffle bags and use small fold out card tables, or in some cases, cardboard boxes to eat and write on. I do not know anyone there, but we are assigned to small groups of five or six people to a table/box. I do not remember any of the details about the others in my group, but there is a guy sitting on my left who looks like a stereotypical jarhead. I cannot remember his name but I think it started with an "L."

L is a real bully to everybody and no one really likes him. I try to be nice to him, but in return he starts harassing me with rude comments and constantly tries to grab by breasts and buttocks. I am able to fight him off but from then on I have to be on alert at all times because L takes every opportunity to harass me. I try to keep my distance, but that is almost impossible since we are in the same training group within our unit. The dream skips ahead a little and it is months later. Our commanding officer is giving us our orders and assigning every soldier with a "war buddy." I don't have to wait to find out who my partner is. Somehow in the dream, I just know. It is L of course and I couldn't be any less excited about it if I tried.

The dream skips ahead some more and L and I have been deployed in a thick tropical rain forest, hunting down the unseen enemy presence. I think that our settings look like scenes I have seen in Vietnam war films, though this though does not bring about lucidity. I tell L that if he tries anything towards me that I will not hesitate to defend myself, and will go so far as to kill him if I have to. L doesn't respond. We travel for quite a while without engaging in any battles, and L concentrates on his soldierly duties and does not harass me. We come across a wide river that is thick with brown silt and is flowing quite rapidly. Crossing it would expose us to possible enemy fire but we have no choice, as our destination is somewhere in the forest on the otherside. As we are crossing someone starts shooting at us. I become afraid and try to go back the way we came, but L grabs me by my munitions belt and forces me across the rest of the way. He is spraying the part of the forest where he thinks the enemies are hiding, but neither of us are actually sure where the bullets are coming from.

On the otherside of the river L and I dive under the tree cover and the enemy fire suddenly stops. L begins berating me verbally for trying to run away, and though I am angry and not in the mood for his verbal abuse, I say nothing. From then on L declares himself the leader of our team of two and starts bullying me around. I am indignant at first, but soon realize that he is pushing me hard because he is trying to keep me on my toes and alive in the dangerous situation we are in. At random intervals we are attacked by enemy units but L and I are able to fight them off. I cannot see the details of the enemy fighters as they appear as sillouettes of people dodging in and out of the thickette of trees and ferns. More then once L saves my butt and a few times I save his. We are unable to stop for sleep and rest only a few times to eat, as we are constantly attacked.

We reach our destination and it is some sort of military outpost in the edge of the rainforest. On the far side of the camp the flat field dips down into a deep lush valley, where several small villages of the local population exist. We are summoned by our commanding officer and are required to report our experience. It turns out that L and I are the only members of our unit that survived to complete our mission. All of the other soldiers in our unit were killed and the commander wants to know what we did to survive. We report our experience and when we are done I openly admit that it was likely because of L taking charge that we survived. The dream ends with me saying "I think L is an @$$hole, but he's also a damn fine soldier" or something close to that.
    12. Little London Invaded

by , 12-01-2007 at 06:00 AM (Visions in the Dark)
This dream starts off in my hometown of London, Ontario. I am on the way from my parent's house to my new apartment on Adelaide Street. For some reason I am in the country side west of the city. An unnumbered city bus comes along and I get on, but I cannot find my transfer. I can find transfers from several days before, but not the one for today. Only after going through ever pocket on my person do I find today's transfer crumpled up in my left hand. The bus driver sighs with impatience as I hurridly take a seat, red faced from embarrassment but relieved. Despite being out in the country side, but bus is packed and everyone on board seems scruffy or rugged, like they have been camping outdoors for a long time. They are all men and seem to be all staring at me and I feel a bit creeped out and threatened.

The bus drives into the city, to the edge of downtown then suddenly stops. The driver tells all of the passengers to get off and promplty drives away as soon as we have done so. I walk down the main road, Dundas Street, for a while before deciding to wait at a bus terminal in front of a white multi-storey building that I do not recognize from waking life. I am expecting the Dundas bus to come along, but after a short wait, the Adelaide Street bus shows up instead. Though I am confused as to why it is the Adelaide and not the Dundas, I happily board the bus, hoping it will take me straight to my apartment.

The bus pulls away from the terminal and passes a group of asian men standing in the middle of the street, waving various melee weapons around and shouting loudly. I cannot hear what they are saying, but the majority of the noise comes from a man wearing a blue hooded sweater over a white t-shirt. He is waving a hunk of wood around and seems to be directing his anger at random pedestrians on the street. I feel the atmosphere change and everything seems suddenly darker, eeiry and inexplicably desolate. The bus suddenly slows down and stops. A burned out pickup truck, and a pile of damaged cars, is blocking the road and there is no way around. The bus driver manages to turn the bus around and starts heading back to the bus terminal.

As we pass the group of angry asian men, the one in the blue sweater, waving the hunk of wood, pulls out a pistol from his waistline and opens fire on a group of people who have gathered by the side of the road to watch the commotion. The first shot hits a woman holding a baby and the crowd panics and scatters as she goes down. As the man begins randomly firing at the running people, the other men in his group start attacking people with their melee weapons. The bus driver floors the gas pedal and tries to drive away from the ensuing chaos, but a large military truck pulls directly infront of us and forces the bus to stop. The doors are opened and the passengers make a run for it. I run towards the white multi-storey building, with the intention of hiding in it or behind it, but asian men in military uniforms start appearing between and around the buildings. At first I mistaken them for London's Area Support Unit, but it becomes apparent very quickly that these military personnel are foriegn and hostile. I run towards central downtown but it seems that the entire area is surrounded by this mysterious invading army of asian origin.

Many people are captured, myself included, and forced to sit together in large groups with hands behind heads. People who do not comply, or who try to escape, are shot on sight. When the street is overcrowded with captured prisioners, the armed guards start herding us into the large white multi-storey building by the bus terminal. The inside is decorated in bright red fabrics and paints and seems to be a giant theater of some sort. The ceiling is open for several storeys up and the parameter of each floor seems to be made up of box seats, except for the ground floor, which is bare tile like a gymnasium. The prisoners are forced to sit on the floor and face a large screen on the west wall. The military men start playing some sort of propaganda film about their greatness or their great leader or something, but I cannot follow it because it is not in english and I am being distracted by several fat white male prisioners who insistantly try to stand up and show their private parts to the rest of the captives. Their penises are very small or severely deformed but I am finding great amusement in their last acts of bravado, as it seems to really piss off the armed guards.

I suddenly notice an unguarded electrical socket to my right. I descreetly pull the plug and hope that I am shot quickly if I am caught. I have no idea what pulling the pull will do and I am surprised when not only does the propaganda film end, but the electricity to the entire building goes out. The invading asians go into a frenzy trying to maintain control of the prisioners while trying to sort out what is going on. Some captives manage to sneak out in the darkness, while others are caught and executed, but the majority stays put in fear and confusion. Whe the emergency lights come on, the invading army is still a bit frenzied and there is a commotion outside. A man I assume is a commander of the army comes in and motions half of the armed guards to follow him outside.

I cannot remember anymore of this dream.
    13. The Swordmaster's Apprentice

by , 01-15-2007 at 04:22 AM (Visions in the Dark)
This is one of those long, detailed, epic-like dreams that my subconscious seems to produce every now and then.

The dream takes place in a post-apocalypic world where small populations of people often battle each other over limited resources. Technology has been reduced to horse-drawn carriages and flint-lock pistols. There is a man who lives away from the fighting and he works in a forge underneath a damaged bridge by a wide river. The Swordmaster, as he is called, made swords (duh!) and armour. He had a reputation of being a ruthless fighter and a loner, and had no known friends or relatives. He sold his creations to whomever could pay, choosing not to take sides in the frequent battles.

The dream starts with a young girl (about eight years old?), with black hair and green eyes, wandering into his forge (I think her name was Jeyna, or something like that). The Swordmaster tries to scare her away, but she seems unafraid of him and interested in the swords that are on display. I cannot recall the conversation they had, but the Swordmaster eventually bribes her into leaving by giving her a delicately crafted knife for free. The dream takes on a kind of montage effect and shows Jeyna returning in secret several times to watch the swordmaker at work with great fascination.

The dream skips a few years. Jeyna flees to the forge because her hometown has been destroyed and with nowhere else to go, she begs the Swordmaster to take her in and teach her how to make swords. He challenges her to a deal and though she is able to deflect a few blows, Jeyna is utterly outmatched by the Swordmaster. However, he is impressed with her skill and determination and agrees to take her on as an apprentice, but warns of his sudden moods and ill temper. Between teaching her how to use the forge, the Swordmaster also teaches Jeyna some swordfighting skills.

The dream skips a few more years to when Jeyna is a young woman. Despite his cold, emotionless demenor, the Swordmaster has grown quite attatched to Jeyna and become very protective of her, though he tries not to show it. While working in the forge one day, and while the Swordmaster is out, the forge is raided by bandits looking for supplies. Jeyna tries to defend the place but the bandits are armed with long-range weapons like bows and spears and she is captured. The bandits are about to kill Jeyna when a group of soldiers on horseback and wielding flintlock guns and rifles show up and chase the bandits away. The captain of the soldiers tries to recruit Jeyna, telling her of how much of the population has come together to live in peace, but says that she can only join if she can use a gun. The soldiers then ride off in pursuit of the bandits.

After the soldiers leave and the Swordmaster returns and Jeyna has filled him in on what happened, the Swordmaster gives his apprentice directions to a trustworthy and neutral gunsmith that lives a few kilometres south of the forge. Before she leaves, the Swordmaster gives to Jeyna his strongest and most cherished sword. It is a rapier with a white and gold handle and the Swordmaster says that the sword is the best made in the world. Though curious as to why he is passing on the sword to her, Jeyna takes it without question and sets out across no-man's land alone.

The Gunsmith's shop is unmarked and located right between two colonies of people that often fight each other and Jeyna has to find it without being seen or caught. When she does find the place, the Gunsmith, a fat, bald man with a thick curling mustach, scoffs at her request for a gun. He claims that she cannot afford his creations and that he only shares his weaponry with soldiers, not children. Jeyna tries everything from threatening him to begging and the Gunsmith just gruffly laughs at all of her attempts. Finally, Jeyna gives up and goes outside, loudly cursing the Swordmaster under her breath. As she starts to walk away, the Gunsmith runs (or waddles, being fat) outside and chides her for not mentioning the Swordmaster before, as they are old friends. The Gunsmith gives Jeyna his best weapon for free and tells her that she is welcome back anytime to learn how to use the weapon. He also says that she and the Swordmaster to come and visit some time.

When Jeyna returns to the forge, the hour is very late and the Swordmaster is no where to be found. It is only after a couple of days that Jeyna becomes worried, though she is afraid to leave to forge unguarded. Jeyna continues to work the forge until she runs out of resources, which the Swordmaster had always provided before. Only when all of the goods had been sold and there was nothing left of value in the forge or shop, did Jeyna contemplate leaving. She was torn between searching for the Swordmaster, or trying to find the group of soldiers who had tried to recruit her. The Gunsmith suddenly shows up for a visit and while he can provide her with the location of the soldiers, he has no idea where the Swordmaster would be.

The dream gets fuzzy here. There is something about Jeyna searching along the riverbank and running into some of the bandits who raided the forge before. They are unarmed and with their children, bathing and washing their clothes at the water's egde. There is a lengthy conversation about something before Jeyna leaves and returns to the forge. As she is going back she sees two people fighing in the wasteland in the distance and when she gets closer it turns out to be the Swordmaster and the Gunsmith. They are in hand to hand combat and both are battered and bruised. Jeyna runs between the two and tries to seperate them, but the Swordmaster pulls her sword from it's scabbard and violently cuts down the Gunsmith. Jeyna stands in shocked silence while the Swordmaster wipes the sword clean and walks away from the bloody scene. He does not return to the forge and disappears again.

Jeyna does not return to the forge and goes to join the soldiers instead. The dream becomes fuzzy and I cannot remember any more.
    14. Chun-li, Walter and Brent.

by , 07-17-2006 at 10:29 AM (Visions in the Dark)
The young oriental woman in a white dress is called Chun-li; the muscular man with red hair and a goatee who dresses in black is named Walter. The young blond-haired man who wears white and blue clothing and rides a motorcycle is Trevor.

The dream starts off with the two men in the street in front of some old decripid apartment buildings. The entire city is very slum like in some post-apocalyptic word and there are no trees or park areas anywhere. I cannot remeber why now, but there was a gun battle going on and Walter and Trevor were trying to get into the apartment building without getting shot or captured. The people who were shooting at the two men were never seen in the dream so i do not know what they looked like.

The two men were able to make it through the doors of the apartment building and found the lobby empty, except for the young oriental woman who was lying unconscious on the floor. Walter picked up Chun-li and threw her over his shoulder in a fireman's carry. Trevor said that he would create a diversion so that Walter could escape with Chun-li. The two men agreed to meet up outside of the city.

The dream skips to a lightly forested area miles away from the city. I do not know if this is how the dream is supposed to be or if I have just forgotten the escape sequence. Anyway, Walter lays Chun-li down on a large blanket under a big tree and then proceeds to hide the vehicle in which they escaped. Chun-li wakes up and asks what happened, apparently not remembering how or why she ended up unconscious on the apartment lobby floor. Walter doesn't have any answers for her and just says that Trevor will meet them soon.

Night falls and both Walter and Chun-li are worried about Trevor, but neither of them want to go back into the city to find him. They dip there feet in a nearby pond and talk about various things to pass the time and eventually they fall asleep under the big tree. The two of them wake up when they hear a vehicle approaching, grab their guns and prepare to fight, but it turns out to be Trevor, who apologizes for being late.

I am guessing that Chun-li, Walter and Trevor make up some sort of personal archetypes or something because they have appeared together in my dreams several times.
